Lemon and pretty packages tied up w/ string~

I think many of us collect lemon loaf recipes..from a girlfriend .. our mom ..an aunt.. a neighbour..a blog..Foodgawker..Tastespotting ..Pinterest..Lee~Ann:)

I picked up a new Nordic Ware pan..(2:))..one for someone and one for moi..and decided to try a new recipe..

Googled..and this one popped up..I had everything I needed except lemon essence but I had my home made ..baked rinds:)

They  add a terrific lemon punch..and I must say ...this cake is a little winner and popped out quite perfectly indeed..
I was seeing my hairdresser for my streaks..
I decided to pack up a few slices so she could have some w/ her coffee..
The Graphics Fairy had just posted a post about printing on tissue paper..I dare NOT print on fabric anymore..I think it led to the eventual demise of our previous printer..so this one..knock on wood ..is about 18 months old and still printing..the tissue paper worked fine..do go read the tutorial..the tissue lying down..is from The Graphics Fairy one of her free beautiful French Typography downloads..and the M one is from a blogger I miss..this is from 2009 I think..she also made me a cute one w/ my blog name and I have LOST it in my files somewhere..

Boohoo..anyways hope you try the cake and have fun w/ the GF tut..
PS

Laura Calder makes a fun little lemon cake too..the reason I bring hers up..is that many French recipes call for the little glass yogurt containers..

we made yogurt at home the whole time the girls were growing up..and then we stopped and who knows who I gave our SEB yogurt maker and little glass pots to..?
Anyways the pots were French..but not French  cute and to make this recipe w/ kids? How fun w/ the proper pot.
I was going to bring back a pot or two during my next French getaway..hahaha..
imagine ma JOIE..when I found the above little pots in a local store♥
J'aime beaucoup.
Hope they are here to stay.
I couldn't stop looking at them..I mean..turquoise accents to boot.

  1. Monique, lemon cake is one of my all time favorites! Yes, to the little yogurt pots. When I was in France last year, I discovered the BEST lemon yogurt at the little market across from my apartment. It was the best yogurt I've ever eaten! As a bonus, it came packaged in the sweetest little blue crocks. I had a yogurt every morning, and all those little blue crocks traveled home in my suitcase. But of course!
Thanks for visiting my tartan parade. Not certain which photo you referenced about my closet, but no closet shots. The rack of all those gorgeous tartan and paisley throws was in a booth at Round Top. Not to say that I don't have my share of warm cozy tartan throws and a few paisley too.
Thanks for sharing the recipe. I think lemon cake is on the agenda this week.

  2. Monique, just when I think you've made the most beautiful concoction, here is another. I wish we lived close so I could share my lemons and blood oranges with you. I have been buying some French yogurt in little milk bottle shaped glass containers and now have a cabinet full. They are just so cute, I don't know what to do with them. The yogurt is thick with a layer of cream on top. It is expensive but very good. Have a fun week. I am still unpacking at the new house and won't be cooking until Thanksgiving. The kids are all insisting we have it at the new house. Having never tried out the oven and cooktop, I fear it all may turn out ruined.

That would be so nice..I would bake w/ your produce and bring some over..:I thought of using them as mini flower pots..paint pots..little pudding pots for the LITTLES:)
The yogurt is delightfully different..just washed my second one:)

  10. I can't get another Nordicware pan but do love their pans. Lemon anything is great and this one sounds nice. Oh I love those yogurt containers too. So many possibilities for future use. The printed paper is the finishing touch, but you always make a package pretty with all your artistic touches. I would be afraid to try the tissue paper. I could see me jamming the printer for sure! Thanks for another great recipe.

  16. Oh my such a beautiful pan and those yogurt pots. Just lovely. I love everyrhing you post. It's always beautiful. You have such a talent for presentation, and your photography is so lovely. I have only one complaint . . . you don't post often enough. LOL I know, I am greedy! I will content myself for as and when. You to me, are as enticing as Susan Branch. Seriously. I am just as excited when I see you have posted, if not more excited than I am when I see a new post from her. Trust me on this. I mean it from the heart. xoxo

  19. Oh, you ALWAYS have cake pans I lust after! That spiral bundt pan, and now this one. And lovely printed tissue, clever again - but those yogurt pots are really to sigh over. I hope the yogurt is spectacular, because you'll be buying it a lot, I'm sure. Just reading up on your new PM, he's really a smart, fresh face in politics and the people seem to be delighted with him.
