Chunky Chewy Oatmeal Choco Chip and Pecan Cookies..and WN...and pumpkins.

These cookies are absolutely perfect..soft chewy chunky and packed with flavor..
I know I should be baking pumpkin stuff but these cookies were calling this family's name..meaning I wanted to bake and taste.
Not disappointing in the least..in fact I would say one of my favorites..
I did add a new vanilla sugar imported from France..Bourbon..just a hint but packs a nice nice punch..
I always say desserts are not my favorite..I think I know why..a rich chewy cookie..for breakfast..pleases me more that  piece of frosted cake after dinner:)

You can find the recipe here..as you know I don't invent recipes..I encourage others by trying theirs:)♥I used milk chocolate chips.
They are soft  and chewy.
Thank you ETK.

More painting sessions with some of my collection..

I have a little box....it's the Winsor  and Newton Sketcher's box..it was a gift to me..maybe 20 years ago..when a group of us sat in a basement for several weeks and learned a few things..
undoubtedly my favorite classes.

I have since bought another..maybe 10 yrs ago..I never thought or knew about refilling pans:(
Now I know..
It's a handy little set..comes w/ that tiny silver brush you.
I don't know why white is included in sets..it's opaque..does nothing for me at all:(..Payne's Grey does:)
It's the set I brought to Paris..as my Cheap Joe's one weighs more..

Maybe 6 years ago..I found a large WN set on Ebay from the UK and bought it..it was in the $20 dollar range then if I am not mistaken..and my canadian dollar was worth gold:)

I am ashamed to say I have another kit..from WN..that I bought in Fl..w/ a water bottle..the bottle never opened and closed properly so it is all taped together in a traveling cigar box..the Field Plus Travel Set..I hate my bottle:(..
Anyway as you can see over the years I've ..but increased my paint supplieshad a fondness for paints and papers...
The little pumpkin on  a neighbor's porch was painted in this fun book..
The Moleskin Japanese Accordeon Album
I fell in love with it while visiting Rita..
I love how hers is like a book that is a story..or of similar scenes..mine is haphazard..
It's not watercolor paper but works well:)It holds the paint..looks vibrant..and really so cute.
I would definitely get another when I finish this one.
Thank you Rita for the inspiration.:)

It is amazing how fast time flies..the collage you see  above.. above ..is about 5 years old..yet it feels like yesterday..when we packed my car w/ our cameras..bought pears..snapped things that were past their flowering prime but full prime seed forming..
fall does in effect have the richest colors of the wheel..the warmest colors..
my mom's favorite colors♥

Bon weekend~

  3. The cookies look and sound fabulous, but what I love most is your chat about art and your paints and this glimpse of your journey as an artist. You are so kind to share these thoughts with us. I treasure them. I love all your work. You are an artist with the bowl and spoon, the brush and colour and the camera, and your words are spellbinding. Love you to bits. xoxo

It is raining cats and dogs..strangely enough everything is glowing in the darkish landscape..not in a sunny way..like..lights:)

  6. I love, love your photos, Monique. The one of the leaves is amazing. And I always love to read about your art finds, even though I have no talent in that department. Really....NO TALENT.
And no, I wasn't kidding about the biscuits. The devil DID make me do it...I am dieting (as usual) and those are loaded with butter. That crunch all over the top is butter!!! I only had that one corner one and gave the rest away before I could nibble away rest. No will power here.

    1. I will try them..I tried a beautiful wonderful recipe last week..proven winner and I goofed it..flat..and cupcake texture..I am a scone..bread..biscuit girl..I think we always have weight in the back of our minds and that bugs me.There I said it.We are watching a show on TV..called This Is Us..
THis past week's episode..the little girl in the bathing suit..was me:(
      So much bullying...
      Anyway..that's la vie I guess..

  7. Oh, so beautiful - all your pics. I use milk chocolate chips too and have made a batch for my baby boy (30) and his wife and Penny Lane are coming for the weekend. Can't wait to see how she's grown. It is cool here this morning; mist is rising from the lake though its been hot and dry. You do have many sister's. We love you like a sister and tell you things and talk. That what sisters do. Only fly in the ointment, is my daughter-in-law is a rabid Trump supporter (always republican) and I adore Hillary. Will have to bite my tongue. I can't wait to start painting again. You let me know about testing. Okay?

I bet you cannot wait for the visit..I met a lady named Penelope..and I know one..I worked with but we called her Penny..it's funny..when the lady told us her name I thought of Penny here and Penny there:)PLane.
      What a nice nick/love/name.
I didn't watch the last presidential debate..I watched the second one..
      I 'm not voting ..of course ..
It will be very interesting to see what happens..
I know there are supporters on both sides..it's funny..here I vote for the person..not the party..except a few parties..that I will never vote for regardless of who is running.
I can't wait for you to paint again either:)
      Have fun..with your visitors..:)

  8. Big chunky chewy cookies are my favorite too. I'll take one over a fancy dessert any day of the week. I'm home from my adventure and trying to adjust to the time change, something that gets harder and harder with each trip. Fall colors are my favorite. All wonderful pictures, and I especially like the little car in the shadows.

  11. Oh, I would love those cookies! I'm an oatmeal cookie gal but rarely make them for myself so I don't eat them all :) I am tempted! I love how you've styled them. Glorious scenes of autumn there and on your watercolor paper ♥ Sad it's over so quickly once the leaves fall but the build up of color is exciting. Payne's Grey is one of my favorites too :) Bon weekend!

    1. They are moist..some prefer cracker -like these are moist..I pick off little pieces..I am really bad w/ soft oatmeal cookies:)..young I loved Dad's Oatmeal Choco chips..Nice Cookies....:) Loved those and Speculaas..I cannot remeber my mom making cookies..

      I wonder why..

Today at Costco..they had a box..called Cookie Exchange..4 packs of cookies..to bake..all done..I guess you just add the wet ingredients..
I marveled at 3 tea loaves..marbled..vanilla..forget the other one..$6.89..(gotta love their pricing..) they offered a bite..EXCELLENT melt in your mouth..Jacques said you will have a bite and the 3 loaves will be for me..they had so many delicious all ready made things that look home made..!
      But..then..where would my fun be?
      The gathering..mixing..baking..smelling ..tasting..taking pics:)
And so we bought no baked goods..as usual;)

Today was umbrella a must day..except when a change of wind happened and umbrellas turned inside out!

    2. We were just at our Costco yesterday - didn't see the cookie exchange nor the tea loaves. I so agree, would rather make and bake myself - more fun :) Bought Jarlsberg, baguettes, organic raspberries and wine for our dinner with L&W last night. My mom wasn't a big cookie baker either except for refrigerator cookies with harvested black walnuts and hickory nuts. She loved harvesting nuts :)

      Delete
    3. We bought Jarlsberg too:)

Funny..you know Jacques makes our wine..but we buy for guests..:)
      My girls love Kim Crawford:)

  15. Such beautiful images of autumn! We are having some cool weather with temps in the 50s at night. Feels fabulous! I'm curled up in a wool throw as I type. ;-) Wish I had one of those chewy cookies with my cup of hot tea. Delicious! Love seeing your water color work in your journal. 23. Merci, et à toi aussi! What brand is the box in the photo? (maybe I missed that) I think Cotman & W & N are my favorites, but yesterday I broke down and bought a 12 cake Koi set, it was just so cute!. The paints were gummy and streaky and weak, so I removed the plastic tray w the colors and put in empty half pans, waiting for my W & N tube colors. Your painting, soooooo sweet, are they growing more vibrant and confident? Might you make prints of that little painting (& send me one?) You are a multi talented artist!!!!
I brought some new paper goodies too: Do not like the Strathmore soft cover wc sketch book but it was cheap. Hand•Books, the super white paper, is my favorite now. I'm thinking I must make my own long accordion book with wc paper as I am favoring the white instead of the Moleskine beige at the moment...

I am so bad for art supplies..
the set is Cotman W-N..I do like it..large pans..we do get to enjoy certain products more than others..Oh I would send you the original but then my accordion would fall apart:)
I received Killimanjaro in a travel kit fro Cheap Joes..a 4x6 block and I like..

I is the one you had in your post:)
I was smitten..I must tel you know I tried tw landscapes and they were awful:( I wish I could tear the pages out;)
Thank you as alwways for the encouragement and inspiration Rita!
