It snowed..it's grey ..so , let's go to Gordes..~

Because it's one of France's pretttiest places..

the wind was fierce market day..tablecloths blowing in the wind!

Gordes is gorgeous..the day we visited..The Mistral was blowing wild~
We could not hold onto our hats..the market appeared to be blowing away!
It's simply a magnificent medieval village..Life is good there.

The vistas from above are outstanding..the vistas leaving are astounding..
the shops..the market..the restos..the buildings..all of it♥

We went in 2008..HAD to go back♥

It is a dream.

The murals in black and white are huge..

We ate indoors..no pics..great food! The high velocity winds made us seek refuge to eat:)

One of our hosts at an AirBNB..grew up there..these are the grapes he brought us freshly picked..

Clearer water you will be hard pressed to find..than  in La Fontaine De Vaucluse~we went there après Gordes..

Everyone flips over LFDV:)♥

Cigales (cicadas) are big in Provence..I brought one home (ceramic) that actually makes  sounds when walking by..I put it in our screened-in porch for the boys ~

It is a GREAT place to visit♥

  4. That is a beautiful place. So different. I thought OK was the only place with ferocious winds. Wonder how that water is so clear. My bread turned out. I thought I was going to be the only one who couldn't make it. I am making a loaf for my friend's 90 year old mother this weekend. It is her birthday.

  6. Such beautiful vistas and architecture! How wonderful to see rural flowing hills and medieval castles. With the age and size of France, I am happy they still have preserved such lovely areas. Too bad the wind was so fierce while you visited. You'll just have to return :)

  7. I'm so in love with these photos and your beautiful tour -- and so pleased you are warming up my very cold day with pictures of sun and bright colors. It looks just fabulous. Vauclause -- wasn't that in the book too? I think so! Oh, the shutters, the market, the water, the kayaks, the menu sign. Le sigh...

Stunning place..hard to not stand still..for long..but so much to see..you keep moving.I find these places in Provence..quite Zen..not on market day..at the height of it..but all the rest of the time in September..just ..well.. like you said..le sigh..:)

    1. Provence is DRY..it is the opposite of Paris..the South Of France is ttally different..light colored clothing..blue skies(mostly).
When we went to Paris June 2016..the water leves were higher than now..I have photos of pieces of furniture..floating down La Seine:( We were never able to walk the banks of La Seine while there:( The last day..and of course all was in shambles:(

  10. You get all "oooohhh's and awwwww's" from me today. Such gorgeous photos and a wonderful adventure right from my desk chair. Thanks for sharing you beautiful adventure. Do most of the people in France speak English?

    1. I found that many shopkeepers..and there are many..speak or understand English.St -Rémy itself has so many ex-pats and tourists(In a good way)..that you would have NO problem in St-Rémy..don't expect everyone to speak English..but we met many tourists that get around perfectly..EX..in a parking lot..to pay..the machines..are French..we had English speaking people ahead of us..I helped them..it seems like there is always an answer in Provence.
Ad areas ahve different dialects..in many parts of Provence..people would exclaim..vous venez du Canada? Du Québec? We love your accent..we want to go there etc..in other parts..they thought we wee English lol:)

  12. More beauty from your trip! What a lovely visit for the eyes on a grey dismal Winter's Day. Those Cidadas how very charming. I love LOve LOVE French markets! Market Day was one of my favourite days when we were there. Most days there were not a lot of people about, but on market day the town came alive and there was so much to see, smell, hear, taste, etc. There is so much charm in a French Market. They are a feast for all the senses! xoxo

Penny I am lucky w/ these pics.I didn't bring my cameras..I brought Caroline's pocket point and shoot..and that's what I did..because it's not a photo holiday w/ Jacques;) Iff he was into photography..I wouldn't be walking and shooting at the same time;) But he takes MOVIES ..and I can't wait to watch them..so when he stops..I take it all in ..and have more time:)
It is a great place..what a wonderful anni you must have had!

    1. I think it helps..although I think everyone would help you:) I do!
But I know what you mean..we went to Italy in 2008..and loved it..but we don't speak Italian..and realize that it was often needed in Italy..particularly smaller towns. So although San Gimignano is calling to us.. ;) not sure..as you know we like to be on our own and drive around..no hotels.. so shop for the meals etc..directions..
I must say the markets in France are totally different than in Italy..and I prefer the French markets by far ..in my limited experience..but the vistas..landscapes..in Italy..♥♥

    2. I know just enough Italian, French and Spanish to get me into trouble! Italy is a wonderful place. I have dear sweet friends who live there, so a visit is in order. I haves traveled to Italy on my own and also with a group of friends. My grandmother was French, and I learned to speak some French at age 5. Most of it escapes me now. I think it might come back if I were to follow a dream and spend a length of time there,

    3. I think it would come back soo fast!I think I remember some of your Italian friends from your blog..♥I think there is an adventure waiting for you inside you:) I feel it.
Your love of beauty must be fed with travel:)It's so different.
Never even thought I would love it.
Bon weekend:) Je te souhaite un voyage plein de jolies surprises:) Et surtout..n'oublie pas ta caméra:)

  16. BEAUTIFUL reprieve from the grey and beige surroundings we have here! Thank you, Monique. And thank you for your advice about knowing the market. The folks did end up coming to look last night. It was a frenzy of getting ready... then, they didn't show when first scheduled to come Friday. We left before 6AM yesterday to go watch the boys play basketball in Ft. Worth only to get a text mid-morning that they would like to reschedule for yesterday afternoon. Mercy! We cut our trip short to get back and they did come. Probably a big waste of time, but the house is VERY CLEAN! LOL! Have a wonderful week! blessings ~ tanna

    1. One thing you must know..is that you need a GREAT sense of humor when selling one's home;)

I bet they loved it..I have seen what you do to homes:)♥

And we always think the first person will buy it..;)

I have sold homes..unseen ..conditional upon approving the inside..that's when a home is that charming or the location is that hot..I met and agent this week that told me I got out at the right time..nothing is the same he said..he says he will die with an offer in his hand though..he has a sense of humor....cannot imagine retiring.I used to feel like that.
      Not anymore..
Life is better w/out an offer in your hand..but a paintbrush or crochet hook.. or a spatula..or seeds♥
Although while I did it I had the best clients:)♥

      Good luck..good luck good luck..:)

      Oh I know spotless..

Can you believe sometimes..RARELY maybe 3 times in almost 30 years..a client chose a number of homes..to see..the internet was big and they picked..I would graciously suggest or remind them..that it was lacking a few of their pre-requistes such as location etc..lol and they would insist..fine..we would get to the house and He..it was always a he..would say..I'm not going in..I hate it.. well..the owner went to a lot of trouble..so perhaps we can just take a quick tour.. twice they refused..Arrogant.. I still remember lol..I hated making that call..and it was hard..and I did white lie twice..saying their time was cut short. No way you can say they just hated the look..or location..:(
I would come home.. for almost 30 years and Jacques would hear everything:)
      Bon Dimanche:)
