~Apple Caramel Cake...and fall's gone y'all;)

As fall comes to a close ..you know..fall y'all:)
Y'all..is all over blogs and Instagram..it's not a term we use really in QC..makes me smile because it seems it's everywhere!

..I thought I'd post these pics here on my blog ..to remember a beautiful fall day...  s..
Beautiful fall days which were few and far between..

It's not been the prettiest fall ..lack of sun to make our trees shine and unseasonably cold.
But some days ARE diamonds and some days dust right:)

Turn your day into diamonds w/ a cake recipe I gleaned on IG..

Y'all can find it here:)
It's just that good.

One of my all time fave pics..so tender to me..Oli wasn't even 2.. I think..
He's 9 now.
Still our baby doll.

Time flies by so quickly...we've been very lucky to have 4 boys who helped us go back in time..if even  for a bit♥
By the way I still love that coat..it's almost ankle length and pure wool..from France..it was Nancy's and she bought it in the SW of France when she lived there..she gave it to me and it is one of my favorite things.Brass buttons..warm..some small gold threads It's fall to me.I look like the trees.

And then it snowed..No kidding. And snowed again..and this weekend we are expecting quite an accumulation..

PS The cake is an absolutely delicious cake.I find it is at it's peak same day..once cooled..The topping stays amazing but the cake loses a bit of it's moistness..Still good !
Perfect same day of.

The boys all had great season finales at football.
Parents..coaches and kids put their hearts into it♥

Have a great day y'all;)For some reason it does not roll off my tongue..;)

  1. What gorgeous fall pictures. We still have some snow on the ground because it has been so cold. I will be nervous until spring to see if part on my lawn sprinkling system froze. That coat is beautiful. I'd wear it with patches. Cake sounds very good. It is a southern thing, (I think) to say y'all and I use it all of the time. I think that is how people from other state back east know where we are from. Donna@gather

Not sure but you know how cold it gets where I live:)
The coat is so unique! I tell her I get great pleasure wearing it..It's heavy..I should weigh it;)

  3. Oh those fall photos are so lovely! We went from the 80’s to the 20’s F,. The leaves never had a chance to change from green to orange. Now they will simply turn brown and drop off! Love your beautiful sweater, what a sweet image.💖. People in the south say y’all fairly often, but it has never been in my vocabulary. Funny how that works. Craving a slice of that cake with my morning tea!

  4. Beautiful photos and I remember Oli blowing milk weed pod seeds ♥ How precious those memories are of our little Littles! I love that fall-colored sweater and the cake looks so good! Long gone are the beautiful fall leaves here. It seems like they were never gorgeous this year, so gloomy, dreary, windy and rainy. It snowed last weekend and there is still a trace on the ground. It's been freezing here the past week! Our good friends from Georgia were here last weekend and she says y'all too ;)

  6. Such pretty photos of your fall scenery. Ours was not as colorful and did not last long either. Now we are into winter. Well over the 5” that had been predicted and now sleet. My girlfriend made it into NY just in time before it turned into an absolute nightmare for driving. We should be baking Christmas cookies to match the weather!

  7. Y'all is a very Southern expression I think! That could be why it fails to roll off our Nothern Tongues with ease! Oh, that photo of you with wee Ollie is so precious. Why do they have to grow up so quickly! Its not fair! Your coat is beautiful and very autumnal! Love the photos of the leaves. My brother posted photos of the snow in Ottawa, so I am sure if you don't have it now you will have it soon! That cake looks fabulously tasty! We are having the allergic missionaries for supper today. I am at a loss as what to cook, but I'll just cook and what he can eat he will eat and what he can't he can leave! xoxo PS - One thing I do miss over here are the snowstorms. So cosy, unless you have to shovel I guess! ♥♥♥

    1. Lots of snow already..roads are bad..but it's QC and people get used to it.Rare now do we get snow days where all in canceled..not because there's not enough snow..but because we're like Tundra people.
I get my winter tires on so early!I prefer being early than late..
I too love snowfalls..just the work involved that is no fun at all.
Jacques likes a challenge..it's exercise for him.
      His Fitbit is his best friend..Me/ A hoe..a paintbrush..or a crochet needle..or a whisk;)
      My wrist are thin:)And fit.

      Thank you God.

      Have fun tonight!

  8. Happy Saturday, Monique! I want to fall into your fall photos. Our season was never so beautiful as that this year -- not that we had a sunny day to notice what was. Those photos, each and every one, take my breath away. That first one, with the red car in the distance? Prize winner! I'd probably blow that up as big as I could on canvas and display it if I'd been lucky enough to take that. And paint it for sure, which I bet you'll do on a cold winter's day with loads of snow (next week?!) when you want to be reminded that the leaves will return on those trees.

The cake looks wonderful and I am totally in love with your beautiful coat. That's a keeper.

It's snowing here today too and did in the night so the trees have a thick layer of snow on them. It looks gorgeous and if the sky was blue would look like a fairy tale. I hope it all melts fast.

  9. We like oursnowy fairy tales don't we?
Jeannie thanks for your kind words..that shot is our street..not as beautiful on recycling day w/ the large blue bins for recycling or green for everything else..new brown ones for food things..Oh lala all very good for the environment but quicly turns a vista from pretty to not so much!
We're getting pummeled today w/ snow..driving not great at all..Winter tires are obligatory as of Dec 15th..so many don't have them yet..Next yr..we hear Dec 1rst.smart thinking.Mine are on..Have a great day!!

  10. Such beautiful fall colors. You and your long coat blend in with the trees. A fun photo to reflect back on. The boys have grown so much! The cake looks divine, I might attempt to make it. With my mom living with us, I have had to adjust because she can't have a lot of sugar. Happy Weekend.

  11. Dearest Monique,
Wow, you are so right about LOVING that lovely wool coat from the SW of France! Perfect for the season and so attractive.
It is the time of baking, which I managed to do yesterday. Pieter is very happy with my Baked Oatmeal with pears and pecans...
Snow is something else... we got now the third sunny day after weeks of dark, rainy weather. Not good for the painter and anyone working on the renovations. We're making progress, only the threshold and the safety bar + glass door needs to get put in. The door was custom order and that takes time.
Bedroom has been painted and the office got done. Now the hallway... We're looking towards a neat and clean place soon again!
Stay cozy and wishing you a happy Sunday. Have to perform today at the Mistletoe Market, one hour and 15 min. away from where we live. It will be fun with the ladies of our choir and we love to cheer up others. We did so on Tuesday for a luncheon and they begged for encores but most had to rush back to work.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  14. Wow!!! Such brilliant colors they were. Today, on Nov 22, our autumn colors here in Maine are all gone. Snow came to point that out. (my post today is just about that...) That is a gorgeous, charming photo of you and Oli.
