I do freeze pesto, but have never tried with fresh herbs. (I add spinach to my pesto too. Think I saw that on Ina's show.) It's an expensive little machine, but all the herbs I've frozen after using one sprig have not held up in the freezer. Thanks for the reminder Monique.

I left the bay leaf tree and the rosemary out all last winter and they both survived. I think I might just move them closer to the house so they are protected in case we have a colder winter.

~Ann

Thibeault's Tablehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05802905531600373021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5220978989894261816.post-28273764672695544282013-09-17T20:38:34.383-04:002013-09-17T20:38:34.383-04:00LOVE LOVE herbs!!! especially basil and mint - the...LOVE LOVE herbs!!! especially basil and mint - the photos are gorgeous!
Mary xAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5220978989894261816.post-60590537354097346752013-09-17T16:51:52.802-04:002013-09-17T16:51:52.802-04:00The FOODSAVER seems to keep it all green Marie..A...The FOODSAVER seems to keep it all green Marie..A little wonderkid of preserving it seems..so far:)La Table De Nanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04358539954508050792noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5220978989894261816.post-78221759231789403932013-09-17T16:50:32.269-04:002013-09-17T16:50:32.269-04:00I will make a pasta sauce soon..and tell you if it...I will make a pasta sauce soon..and tell you if it stayed sparkling..so far everything in the freezer is still bright green whereas before..it was black already.
For basil plants outside..this is the yr I followed a Pinterest tip..and it grew bushier and bushier upon pruning..we were really happy with it this year:)
Pesto stays very green frozen..my friend adds spinach:) Greener even!
La Table De Nanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04358539954508050792noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5220978989894261816.post-34002128519022628942013-09-17T16:09:27.846-04:002013-09-17T16:09:27.846-04:00I wish I had read this sooner. Pesto freezes beautifully. I always freeze mine. Basil does not do well in the cold normally. The leaves do turn black. I guess it's the oil in the pesto which helps to prevent that from happening. I don't know how it works but it does! I have apples to pick and pears as well and the blueberries are still coming. I am not complaining! Happy Harvesting to you!
