In The Morning Light~
Things are soft and special..
Different from any other time of day~
The golds are starting to glow..
"The foliage has been losing its freshness through the month of August, and here and there a yellow leaf
shows itself like the first gray hair amidst the locks of a beauty who has seen one season too many."
- Oliver Wendell Holmes
What a fantastic post, love the idea that the fall foliage season is just around the corner!

beautiful nana~
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, Monique. Our summer started very late but it looks like autumn will arrive on schedule. It will soon be time to rake leaves and get flower pots ready for cold weather. Fall is my favorite time of year.
ReplyDeleteDo you know I have been noticing the same thing; my herbs and flowers seem to have lost some of their glow and that is a good thing. I am ready for fall and all it's glory.

Beautiful images! I will welcome fall. ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteI have been catching up on all of your recent posts! Beautiful!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe beet root cake is amazing! I have never heard of it before.
I am also checking out the blog book!
Yours looks gorgeous!

Lovely! I do enjoy fall--probably because I grew up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia where autumn is just glorious.
ReplyDeleteOur son still had power as of last night. Haven't heard if he made it to work in New Bedford or our DIL to Providence.
I'm not sure where you live but I just dropped my husband off at Midway to fly to Quebec City. I hope Irene has not harmed that lovely old place!
Hope you are back on the power grid very soon.
Best,
Bonnie
You've captured the morning light so beautifully ~ eye candy, and such a treat to peek into your world Magical Mme. M.
ReplyDeleteIt's so true . . . my August garden is looking mighty tired. xoxo
Lovely, peaceful light...what a way to start the morning.
ReplyDeleteIs that a bird house on the pole? if so, what type of bird houses in it?
We are scheduled to finally get some rain this Friday and Saturday; a 50% chance each day. I hope the weatherman is right...my plants and yard are looking very thirsty and tired looking. Judy/Houston

Lovely photos Monique. Summer is my favorite season and I'm holding on, but I know fall will be here in the mountains before I know it.
ReplyDeleteSaw your lovely photos and tomato tart on Stone Gable today.

Hi Judy..that's our borrowed landscape birdhouse..it's the golf course's.. in the grassy wildflower patch..I am not sure which type of birds they house as we have feeders and houses here..Our birds are mostly finches.. we have blue jays..cardinals.. a gorgeous orange bird.. sparrows.. CROWS..ugh..but mostly darling little gold finches.
ReplyDeleteI love fall too..just wish as I said it lasted 2 months longer:)
Fall is glorious and was my mother's favorite season..the artist in her I am certain.
We have had a dry dry summer and Irene's quenched the fading garden's thirst..Very tired gardens here also..This is when I look around and see everything that needs chopping down soon:( I grow the gardens all yr..yes..to cut them all back..A cycle...
Lots of branches here and there..system restore is done..and power is back on:)
I love power.
I love no power for a candlelight dinner.
A golden post.....lovely photos and beautiful words Monique.......I resonate with Autumn more than any other season.
ReplyDeleteLove Karen
You are right...the golds are starting their glow and your photos captured it perfectly. Our leaves are just starting to change at the edges of the trees. Before long, curls of smoke will be coming from the chimney and we will be raking those beautiful gold and red leaves.
ReplyDeletei love shooting in the mornings not so much those cold winter mornings but you are right the light is beautiful then.
ReplyDeleteExquisite....that quote is so true and beautiful too!
ReplyDeleteThank you for everything my friend
Shel xxxxxx
It's brisk this A.M..Lucas just got on the school bus for grade one..sniff..
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day everyone~
Aside from the bounty of the garden... I always feel that way about the last of August. Things begin looking frowsy and sad.before they all get turned under and the leaves do one final show of color. Lovely quote.
ReplyDeleteVery, very dry here also. I've decided it's too late in the season to try to lug hoses around. I'll just keep my containers watered. It is such a bittersweet time of year. I look forward to the colors and cooler temps, but then...! It's a good thing nature doesn't know Lady Clairol :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure my heart will ache when Mack gets on the school bus for the first time.
Susan..yes I agree:) with everything..
ReplyDeleteBonne Journée tout le monde...
Thanks for posting this MOnique! I'm definitely going to have to try the figs out.
