~Pretties~
And in the garden..~
In the Kitchen~
I love my daughter's little Zinnias..I picked one on our way home the other night:)
I love my friend's potager..
And her zucchini blossoms..
I read up on them and you should only harvest males~
She told me to go ahead.
I love my friends forward of a cute little blossom topped quiche..But made my own..It's the look and idea I loved..That little topper:)
I was worried I could create an ugly duckling in 1/2 hr.. but a swan emerged:)
A treat to make and eat~
So in a less than 30 minute meal:) Well part of meal..
I softened 1/2 a shallot in 1 tbsp melted butter on low heat..
I beat 2 eggs w/ a whisk..added 1/4 cup half and half..1/8 cup pecorino ..1/4 cup mozzarella, the softened shallot..some finely chopped Jacques basil,, some finely chopped Nancy Zucchini Blossoms..Herbes de Provence,S and P.
I prepared 5 layer Phyllo dough in 4 muffin tins.. and added the mixture..
I baked at 375 for 10 minutes..and then 11 minutes at 350.
Once out..make a small hole and fit the blossoms on top:) C'est tout!
Will make again~
Oh my! Another post of deliciousness!

ReplyDeleteKate it looked like a sundial to me.Just luck that it stayed so i could take the whole clock almost:)
Yvonne your gardens are splendid..You're fortunate..I know you put your heart into it~
It's funny how one little email from a friend with a cute pic can inspire you..
Can't take my eyes off of the zinna in the white ironstone pitcher. Lovely.

Lovely! I planted zinnias from seeds this year and they are coming up nicely. No blooms yet but I'm hopeful.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
I used to grow zinnias. They are so easy from seed, I need to scatter some again. Love your blossom tarts!
ReplyDeleteI need to do some next yr too:)
ReplyDeleteI did buy some Zucchini plants today though:)
Monique....
ReplyDeleteBeauty follows you where ever you go.
This made me smile...
Love to you...
Bisous!
i am so jealous of your garden! And I love how you have used these blossoms too. Much healthier and cuter than deep frying them!
ReplyDeletePretty flowers and gorgeous tartlets! I wish I had a garden...
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Rosa
Such a beautiful idea to top the mini quiches with zucchini blossoms. It gives it a rustic touch. I also like how quickly it can be whipped up.
ReplyDeleteI've missed your beautiful posts whilst I've been away! Love this pretty recipe, definitely saving it to try it soon.
ReplyDeleteMonique, you truly did create a lovely swan. It makes me want to find a place to grow zucchini just so that I could have blossoms for this lovely little bite of goodness.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Monique! I won't have any squash blossoms this year . . . the slugs have eaten them all. It's been so wet the slugs are like a scourge devouring everything in their path. Most annoying! xxoo
ReplyDeleteKaren..I did the same..with your gardens you should have no problem..oh Marie..it's all that ran you have had:(Still your gardens look great!
ReplyDeleteThey do look like little yellow swans :)
