I was 21 having my first daughter..
I didn't even know what I was doing:)
Turned out alright:):):)I think..just loving them is key.;)
I sure knew how to decorate lol..I don't think there was an undecorated part of her ..maybe 5 yr old room..♥
I had lost my mom in Dec of '73..and when I saw this head of black hair like my mom's..♥
I hear crickets..I hear end of summer..very few clematis remain..
and they did poorly this year.
Zinnias are popping..but I wanted fields..
Dahlia..only one..and no buds yet.
We've had some rain so things look a little greener..it's been the driest summer ever..
My tomatoes are starting to turn..but I saw my son-in-laws garden Sat and let me tell you chickens make a HUGE difference.
He is already harvesting and the 4 plants I gave him are monumentally huger than all my 12 put together.
I am going to worry about Blogger later.
Maybe after Covid.
Please tell me by Christmas we will be in each others homes..

Summer is bday season..Oli will be the last Sept 8th.
I have missed every outing with them this summer.
Lunch and shopping.. so many things by the wayside for so many people..
And these are infinitely microscopic things compared to most.
Strawberries and blueberries have come and gone..
Now CORN..my favorite..
Gosh..Peaches and Cream deliciousness.
It's the bee balm and yellows now..and hydrangeas..
Japanese Anemones and annuals ..
Russian Sage..
And Phlox..
I am still thoroughly enjoy Chris Petri's You tube watercolor tutorials..I got a nifty little water container w/ brush holder..as if I needed it but I like it..I'll share it next time just thought to tell you now.
I hear crickets..did I mention that?

DeleteI decided to buy some manure to add to some of my garden beds. I know it's not the right time of year to do that but the older I get I just do things when I feel motivated or it may never get done. I spread most of it around my herb bed. I plan to add more to a few beds over the winter....if I find the motivation!

Today is my sister-in-law's B'day too.
Enjoy the summer. Indeed a sad fact that nothing is going on right now.
We spend 3 lazy nights at our favorite Hyatt Place. No hot breakfast served... just grab and go and NOT healthy, nothing for me that's allowed. I called ahead and knew it would be like that so we did bring our cool box with things for keeping in the room's fridge. Sad discovery when we went to the Hilton Head Outlet Mall. Barely a car parked and stores almost empty! We were waited on eagerly... So SAD for the economy!
When we got home UPS delivered our hardcover and it looked great. Feeling so relieved and happy. WHY did they not ship the paperback together with it? That arrives on Wednesday.
Feels like summer is winding down already without us having a fair taste of it.
Praying hard for normal times!

Young entrepreneurs n my town are working sooo hard to keep their businesses afloat.
Personally ..I am going nowhere..s I am not doing my part for restos..but we never went before.
Travel to the US is now out of the question.Who knows when things will return..

The squirrels and chipmunks are biting off the tomatoes..taking a nibble and tossing..grrrrr..Thing is I grow these from seed..so..I don't have a lot of love for the beasts lol.

It just clouded over..hope it rains..I have fungus on my tomato plants.. spots..ohmgee..I sprayed a peroxyde mixture hope it helps..
DeleteWhen I was pregnant w/ M my friend Susan made me a Raddedy Ann and ndy..all in reds etc..they ended up in y red kitchen when we moved and I made these pink ones for each of my girls..not even sure I could still lol..

DeleteHearing crickets here too, and I sit and wonder what they are feasting on in my garden. Have I mentioned I love the way your write? Of course, many times, but it is so poetic. Your post are soothing to me, pretty images and text that reads like the lyrics of a song. I wonder too if life will ever return to normal. I know some things will never be the same. Our restaurants are closing daily. They can't pay the rent. How will they ever recover? I've not seen family or friends and long for hugs and conversation about just anything. Schools will open with virtual learning. I worry for our young community. They need to be in social situations, they need direct teacher interaction for quality learning. Our retired life is not so different, but for active young families it is a stark change in reality.

Happy Birthday to Mylene! I'll bet you can't believe you have a 45 year old daughter and she does have beautiful dark hair :) I love her room! Dolls and butterflies. She looked so happy. By contrast we've had such a rainy summer. Crazy wet! I've been picking tomatoes for at least two weeks now but because of the wet, humid weather, the leaves are curling and turning yellow and brown with spots on them. I'll be lucky if the rest of the tomatoes ripen before the plants die. I know you have water restrictions there so I'm sure keeping your garden watered during your dry summer has been very difficult :( Yes, crickets singing at night her now too. Sad to say it's a sure sign that fall is near. It was such a sad and lonely start to summer and then no pool until the end of July. Let's pray for a mild and warm fall! I love your magnolia painting! I still have just a few clematis blooms left. Nothing in abundance right now. Waiting for the dahlias to begin. The 4 o'clocks are a bright spot in the garden. ♥

DeleteSusan I have just started picking tomatoes and today I noticed yellowing leaves and brown spots..on ALL..I cut them off and have sprayed w/ a peroxyde mix..just after dinner..and now it poured..I'll try again tomorrow..It's this HUMIDEX..Oy not my fave gardening yr at all..

I only have 1 dahlia.. and not one bud yet..like I said..pitiful yr..and those friggin beetles..one thing after another!!

My clematis are blooming again minimally, but it's nice to see blooms. Our phlox, gladiolus, hibiscus, yellow day lilies and anemones are stealing the show at this moment. I'll be canning tomatoes this weekend.

DeleteWhat a sweet, sweet post. I was 21 when I had my oldest daughter also, although I had my son at 19. Dark hair like your mums, that must have felt like an angel's kiss. Just look at those beautiful long pony tails. My oldest is 45 also. Our lives echo each other's in so many ways! Love her bedroom. I always wanted to decorate like that, but we always lived in Military housing so we had to keep some restraint. I think the craziest I ever got was with wall paper, the easy strip kind. I think that painting of yours is my most favourite yet. I need to take some of his lessons. Our clematis has not bloomed in two years. I think the Honeysuckle has choked it out. Summer is definitely on the wane. xoxo

I think your's might be a dark charcoal rather than black. It looks softer than black but it is beautiful. Someone said my black background made her feel sad so I changed it back to white, which is not as easy when using the new blogger.
