My in house seedling trials..I have mixed reviews..the sunflower sprouts failed ..I found..Got very little ..these radish ones are faring better.:)
Pretty last minute garnishes for salads and such.
My fave clematis are group 3s.Probably because I can grow them.
I can grow group 1..but they bloom too early for me when all else is not pretty.
I like Tik Tok at night:)
Best tip..so far..
apart from make up lol..I love that too..
Stawberries..wash them and dry them as you usually do..(I add a bit of vinegar to the water) And then bottle them up.My strawberries have NEVER stayed this fresh.
We love them..but right now I have blueberries..watermelon..bananas..had pineapple..we can't eat that fast.
Try..FABULOUS.
I tried yet another no knead lol..how many now ? 10 plus for sure..This one uses less water so you can decorate a bit more ..I'm all for that:)
It's from Rock Recipes..and again T at Instagram... handle 2002kcmd introduced me to it.This girl non stops bakes and such in the kitchen and send me recipes and tips.I just enjoy that so much.So this recipe is really thanks to her. She's a Canadian girl worked all her life now retired. she is so crafty.Even used to make her own tailored suits.
She crochets.. Cricuits..etc.
Young:)er than me..lol.
I love making cute lunches once in a while..because we really don't go out and eating a cute lunch reminds me of Provence..
One lunch I loved was this poor man's Nicoise salad with canned tuna lol and kalamata olives. So good.
I drizzled a touch of Gaby's Vinaigrette..not much ..and invented my own dressing..with olive oil ,lemon juice, garlic, Dijon...shallots basil, salt and pepper and some thyme.
That pie..if you have always wanted to try and never found a good recipe..Ricardo's works..I ve been making it for years.
From crust to filling.
That top pic is dear to me.We had MUCH needed rain yesterday ..
Linda gave me hollyhock seeds a few years ago and they didn't grow, last yr I had success, just leaves..the second year they bloom IF you're lucky.
These are my success story. The rain ..helped to start the blooms..
They were supposed to be yellow..apparently seeds of hollyhocks have genetic variations.
I am over the moon with these.
Lots happening there but ..Queens..look how tall and regal♥
Have a great week..
Heat warning here today and so windy you could blow away.Yet I walk my humble gardens..again and again♥
Your garden is looking lovely. I love your salad. I make it with canned tuna all of the time.
ReplyDeleteIts just so handy right?:)
DeleteI am terrible at seedlings in the house but I did have better success this year than in the past.
ReplyDeleteCan you ever have too many clematis"? I need more! I have three, two bloom in the spring & one I moved because it never blooms. I'm hoping it will bloom before the end of summer.
I'll try this strawberry tip..do you rinse the vinegar water off with plain water?
The salads look so good. We eat salads almost every day during the hot months. I love trying different variations.
I've sprouted some new hollyhocks. I'm hoping for blooms next year. I'm guarding them very carefully.
Oh yes I guarded these so carefully..none of my other hollyhocks have had this treatment:)
DeleteI just put a bit of vinegar in a sink of clean water with the berries..I have a spray also..if I just have a few..there's very little vinegar.I don't rinse off..no taste..dry them well before packing..you will see some humidity in the ar but they will be crisp and fresh!
I love your dialog. Vinegar on strawberries? Does it rinse off easily so you don’t taste it?
ReplyDeleteNo taste A.. I even keep a squirt bottle w/ a mixture..VERY LITTLE vinegar..in a bottle..I wash my fruits and veggies in a sink full of cold water with a generous splash of vinegar..but a splash..let them float..swim.. I don't rinse we don't taste a thing..dry on a drying mat..Life extended by soo much!
DeleteI will have ti try!
DeleteIt works!
DeleteSo much to love here. I am in awe of your climatis. Stunning -- all of them. I got two blooms and they died early. I didn't even plant it -- I think it migrated from the neighbor's yard -- and it migrated into a bad spot. The strawberries look great that way. Salad -- looks divine and so does the bread. Oh, Monique -- it's all fabulous. I honestly do not see how you do it!
ReplyDeleteWell .. I seem to have energy..some days I love to do a lot of things..others ..meh…☺️
DeleteI was super lucky to be on Gardenbuddies 20 yrs ago and learn about Clematis from very know, edgeable people and I went for the easy ones.A stroke of luck.
The strawberries bowl me over..sometimes things seem too good to be true..this is true🙂
Thank you for coming to visit Jeanie.
Your plating is stunning. If you opened a restaurant I’d be there every day! 👏👏👏
ReplyDeleteI like to make believe I am in one lol ..faute de ne pas y aller.
DeleteYour garden looks lovely. Such a pretty salad for lunch. You make everything so pretty. Great little tips along the way too.
ReplyDeleteThank you! From the queen of tips..what a lovely thing to say!!!
DeleteYour Provence lunch looks delicious! Yay for rain too! :)
ReplyDeleteWe were in dire need!!!🤗
DeleteThankful you got rain!! We did too!! Such a gift. Your flowers are beautiful. I especially love your hollyhocks because my grandfather grew them. He's been gone for 60 years, but I still remember him smiling at his hollyhocks. Sweet memories. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteMy friend Nancy wrote to me ..she writes beautifully..and said she loved Hollyhocks..that they brought dignity to a garden🙏I love them even more now.
DeletePraying for more rain it seems to have skipped our town😢Your gardens are beautifulPam
So much prettiness in this post. Glad your hollyhocks are blooming. Mine are not there yet, but hopefully soon. We're in the midst of a dreadful "heat dome" and I would be very thankful for a good rain. Your Provencal lunch will be on my list for a cool meal!
ReplyDeleteHi Lorrie..we have heard about your heatwave..trust me..so hot and humid here too!
DeleteHope you share your hollyhocks!
Try to stay cool😊
Your hollyhocks are stunning. Well, done you! I need to try your way of doing the berries. Had a girl stop by today at the door selling berries from the boot of her car, just picked this morning. Beautiful berries! My dad stopped by and ate half the quart I bought just sitting here. It did my heart good. That salad, the tart, pies, it all looks delicious! Everything looks so pretty. The bread too! ❤️
ReplyDeleteI bet dad was over the moon marie..We just don't eat things fast enough here.We think its because a jar is CCCCOLD.. a baggie..Tupperware..not as cold..and NO air gets in.My fave tip.Even seeing moisture doesnt alter the berries.
DeleteI am going to try it for sure. When there is just me, I find I am throwing things out sometimes because I just can't keep them long enough.
DeleteDo it..I promise you:)
DeleteThose hollyhocks look beautiful, even if they didn't come true to the parent plant! Your clematis are beautiful and I do love the group 3s the best! I love growing sprouts in late winter when I need a little lift of green in the house :) I never knew that about strawberries! I will definitely try the jar next time I buy some! Does it work for other fruit, like raspberries or blueberries, I wonder? I would love to be eating one of your salads with a slice of bread, right now! Both look delicious along with your rhubarb pies. Maybe I'll have all three :) Crazy weather here today. Went for my yearly mammogram this morning. Left the hospital and drove through torrential rain on the way home. The freeway was backed up because there was so much flooding cars were afraid to go through the water. Now we could use some wind to dry everything out!
ReplyDeleteThe hollyhocks are making me happy..whats not making me happy..I bought Shirley Grey Poppes.. sowed this Spring..they germinated beautifully and fully..I even moved some to blend in other areas..
Deletethey all came up..CORAL.. like ones I have..2 lone poppies were grey.
I took a pic and sent.I had reserved a designated area for them to have a small oasis of greys..UGH..so now I have a shocker area of corals(which I love too but not where they are)..UGH.
The hollyhocks thrilled me...
I have a large bowl of blueberries..washed the way I wash them and dried.. and they are till good but my future is jarred for sure!!
Try it onmygosh amazing.
Mammo..I think it's been 3 yrs..
I had to look up Shirley Grey Poppies, they are gorgeous! What a shame about the seeds. Same thing with the Double Delight Nasturtium, remember? Now I can't even find seeds anymore :( They must have been too fickle to sell. Now I have planted yellow French marigolds in their place and they are filling in nicely. I am going to try hollyhocks next year, Maybe in between my dahlias if they will get enough sun there. I am hoping to do all one color to keep things calmer in the garden. ♥ Mammos...I have to :(
DeleteIn a patch of what should have been 2 bloomed..she said save the seeds..well you should see the seed head I will show you and the other I'll have to look.Heavens to Murgatroid.
DeleteYou inspired me to all my specialist Ill see her in Oct..Ill book a mammo♥Thank you.
They informed me I missed an appt in April..LOL nope.I did not.
My gardens are not classic.. chaotic this yr..but growing♥
I like harmony too ..the hollyhocks work here:)♥
I've never tried marigolds..I will I love their name.
Your photos!!! I look at your garden photos and wish I could be there walking and talking with you. It's just lovely!
ReplyDeleteSarah..Thank you so much♥
