That Follow It would be so easy.
You know friends that can be heavy.. and friends that are light..
Follow It is light;)
May is resurrection..it really is..How can all these marvels of nature..quite frail..subsist under terribly cold climate conditions during our winter months..and come back to instill awe in us every year.
Anyone watch Ted Lasso?
Ohmy gosh I will be sad to see the end of it next week.
Episode 11..all about forgiveness:)
I cried..I usually do..
Meanwhile in the garden I should have waited for Queen Lime zinnias to sow..my zinnias.. seeds collected here have all sprouted..well enough to make me hope..But I should have waited for the lime ones.
And a little note re Dill..once you plant dill lol you will always have dill..so much dill..I sowed anew..and then all reseeds have sprouted.
Another I should have waited sowing..Shiso..
I mean I hope it will germinate but slowwww.
You have no idea how often I annoy my gardens;) I am always all day checking .Some could say I need a life..
I have one:)
I find so much joy in hard work in the garden and nurturing..Small talk and parties always bored me..Except when family was involved or one on one couples.. even two but more than that..it all becomes ..too much for me.
One on one I am fine:)
One thing that might surprise you..
Is the following..
You would think I have a full face of Tammy Faye Baker makeup.
I don't ..I love a light SPF foundation..bronzer..blush..mascara..I just like trying what I can:)
In college I worked in a high end store in the make up dept..I loved it!
I always continued to be interested in all this..but once one of my daughters got really invested lol in the last few yrs..I have been more interested.
Art supplies lol:):):..
Almost 70 you would think I have no interest..
Nope all my adult life..every day..lock down and not.. First thing.
I think that's enough trivial things:)
But..
Do try the recipe for that egg roll bowl:)
Here.
No fish sauce for me..and ground pork:) I made full recipe of everything except pork 1/2 lb is enough for J and I and I had sauce leftover for the second time..I can't stop making it:)
Have a great weekend and a great week.
I NEVER would have thought you had a face of Tammy Faye make-up. You just don't seem the type! What you showed -- perfection! Oh, your garden.... I'm wondering if my dill is working hard under all the foliage I haven't yet clipped from the daff bulbs -- trying to suck up the energy of some warmth before I clip them. But it's so overgrown with those fallen leaves (and spreading sweet pea which I adore and curse. I would rather it spread elsewhere!). But you reminded me, in your lovely photo, that lily of the valley would be very pretty in one of my silver teapots or sugar bowls so off to do that soon. Have a lovely holiday weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely Memorial Day weekend..ours was last weekend..:) Enjoy!!!I have to say almost every day is a weekend:) I've never liked a ton of make up on a face:) Not on me at least but I like wearing it it perks me up:) I cant imagine ..My mom wore very little..but definitely her Revlon Red lipstick,,:) Every day.I never saw her looking tired etc.. she was always groomed simply but beautifully..I am sure I got that from her.Their bedroom set had a sep.piece that had a vanity chair big round mirror and drawers, that's where I got it from.I loved those drawers..one long one in the middle.I just loved her so much.:)xo
DeleteYour photography and gardens are simply divine, thanks for sharing. (I cannot go one day without ‘primping’ either…I even wore lipstick under my mask during Covid….silly and messy, I know…but we are who we are.) Happy gardening, happy weekend. xo, V.
ReplyDeleteTeam yes:)And yes we are who we are:)The same to you!Fun I find:) And a real wake us up:)
DeleteYay, I followed you on Follow It. Easy, just like you said! Your makeup always looks so natural to me. I never wore make up for years and years and years. My ex didn't like me wearing it. I did what I was told. When we broke up I started, but I still don't wear a lot. I have my favorites. L'Oreal mascara, eyebrow pencil and eye liner. L'Oreal foundation, a bit of blush. I like the cream blush. That's it. I probably have more products for my hair than I do my face, lol. And my hair is still a mess. I hate old hair. I end up with all these short bits that stick out all around my face. I call myself "Woman with Crazy Hair." Your gardens always amaze me, and I love the looks of that egg roll bowl. Yummo! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI aim for natural..I love cream blushes..J has never said one disparaging remark appearance wise..I have been uncomfortable in situations where a spouse has been outwardly critical on the other's appearance.Makes me cringe..Like belittling a service person..waiter etc..I want to hide.I love your long hair..And yes hair gets crazier as we age..but I am grateful to have some.Fall on my knees gretful. One bad diagnosis and things can change in a heartbeat.I'll take what I have..We both will:) Here is to the crazies.:)
DeleteSo funny how your gardens catch up to mine. Every time. Make up, ugh don't get me started. I have a draw full of stuff I never use. But there are days I go bare faced except for moisturizer. Lip color if I have errands. But when I do apply it's always blush, eye shadow and sometimes mascara. Any more than that and I look like a clown. I tried Ted Lasso. did not like. I just saw the final episode of Mrs. Maisel. OMG - Outstanding!
ReplyDeleteI have to get back into Mrs Maisel. Season 2 lost me..One of my daughters adores..J hated it ..so I will watch in bed on my own:)Sunscreen is a must A every day:)Reminds me of when I was little in ballet class at the Mary beetles school of dance:) I asked my mom why that lady waiting for her daughter looked like a clown:)I remember because my mom told this story more than once..I doubt very much you look like a clown:)
DeleteHow is it that your gardens get lovelier every time we see them?! I'm trying to figure out what the pinkish/lavender blooming tree (or shrub?) is surrounding your "You must do something to make the world more beautiful" bench. It is so lovely. Reminds me of how wisteria swoops down.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, friends who are heavy...and friends who are light. For many years, I maintained friendships of both types. Sometimes it felt like very hard labor. Now that I'm older, I like to keep life simple. My family is always first, and I have just a few trusted friends.
When you talked about nurturing your gardens it made me realize that I miss my old farm gardens even more than our home there. Some of us are born to birth gardens. You are definitely queen of the garden, Monique. (And queen of the camera!). Continue to enjoy your lovely life and thank you for sharing it with us (thanks for the recipe for Eggroll in a Bowl. Looks delicious.)
Hi Pam that's a crabapple:)It's growing in a leaning fashion:) Too late to rectify ..like my serviceberry that leans also..Oh I don't know about that.. queen of the garden:) I follow queens:) I'm a maid on the lower level:)The people that live downstairs;)But Thank you..gosh encouragement is gold..Bon dimanche and bonne semaine..Family first for certain:)
DeleteYour garden photos are lovely. I really like the blue and yellow iris together. Love the lilies of the valley which were prolific in my mother's garden. In high school my girl friend & I got jobs at a high end department store in at the Estee Lauder counter during inventory. It was fun. I used to like to do my eyes until I had some minor tear duct surgery years ago. Nothing on the eyes now except brow pencil. All I wear on my face is day cream with SPF, cream blush and a tinted Burts Bees lip balm. Your long hair is beautiful. I wear my grey hair very short. If my hair looks good then I feel good! My new balcony garden is coming along, Searching for Lantana then I will send you a photo. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your photos.I love lantana..forgot this year:(The dwarf irises were a gift ..funny when something is a gift you love them even more..except shastas that came with goutweed:( I hate it..as well as quack grass:(
DeleteAnd yes SPF always..always always.
DeleteNo need to remind me about the bowl; I was instantly attracted ! My father was Chinese and egg rolls were the only recipe he taught me. His recipe was shrimp based but I made the recipe exactly as written ( I think it’s only fair to follow instruction the first time😉). Huge success, but also huge amount of leftover sauce! Next time, I will try with 1/2 minced shrimp to get closer to the flavor I remember. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI signed up under your new mail service and the change seems to have been seamless, so I’m glad it’s working better for you.

Yes I agree re the sauce..I saved it..and used the second time..Thank you Jeannette and I bet your version will be stellar.Gosh I never knew a grandparent..lucky you!
DeleteOh I love makeup. Horrible secret is that I even save it in the box ! Always worn Lancome powder. Now getting too old as it sinks into the lines. I am lying the crevasses.!! Don't use mascara anymore just a smudgy pencil. Blush. Lipstick. You are a natural mother so when those naughty plants misbehave oh dear. As always a lovely post
ReplyDeleteJane the boxes are part of their attraction:) So I understand completely.Thank you for your insight on everything as always:):):)
DeleteYour gardens are so beautiful. I wish we had more water to expand the gardens. The egg roll bowl looks so yummy. Easy and so good. Makeup is a must for me. Lipstick everyday. I also worked in a high end store in the cosmetic department. Loved it. I also worked at Osco drugs in the cosmetic dept. they flew me to Chicago for a cosmetic convention.
ReplyDeleteIt has always been fun for me.I was overweight until 15-16 and suffered with bullying ..terribly..I lost the weight and started with the makeup.. lightly and then the part time jobs in make up and fashion and I was hooked. The gleaming lights in the store..the people who had confidence in my recommendations.Oh it was fun. This was during high school and college..
DeleteI know of a brilliant young girl on a Sephora path ..after foregoing very high uni courses in finance..she is hitting it out of the ballpark after 3 months.Truly out of the ballpark:)
Follow your dreams:)
So beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteLast night Mylène and Alain came for an early dinner( he brought me manure:)) He complimented my glazed cobalt blue pots..I told him it was you:)xoI love having them here.. I get to see your pretty home in my mind..your lovely family..the April Cornell and the lemon loaf all at once:)
DeleteAww....thank you for always remembering. xo
DeleteYour garden is divine. The eggroll looks scrumptious :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am reading The Dutch House..I am truly enjoying it.These second wives that get away with getting everything:( Apparently it was the case of my grandfather on my mother's side..A lovely man I was told..lovely..a window dresser.. 4 daughters and a son..he became widowed..married again..and the second wife..had it all.My mother never even got a teacup:(
DeleteYES I AM FINALLY WATCHING TED LASSO!
ReplyDeleteI got 3 months free with my replacement iPad.
Thanks 🍎
sooo addictive 😵💫
I prefer light & breezy with a touch of pizzaz 👍
Xxx Parisbreakfast
It just gets better and better Carol:)Glad you got it!
DeleteYou are too cute :-) Your makeup "art" collection is fun.. I needed to use the bathroom at our camp over the weekend, but the 28 year olds were painting "wings" on their eye liner and it was taking forever. And they needed perfection lol.
ReplyDeleteTell them there is a stamp for those:) I know lol:) 70 sooner than later.. can't stop;)
DeleteOh my gosh! I know I've been MIA in the garden (so much work!) and on the golf course but I didn't realize I had missed TWO posts! You are so right about dill! I saved seed last year but I certainly didn' need to. It has sprouted up all around where I planted your seeds last year. I removed all the tiny plants and chopped them up to freeze. I saved one row to keep growing and plant cucumber seeds all around them :) I loved looking into your makeup drawer! We have similar items, some where wonderful recos from you! It CC makeup and Confidence Cream♥ My Georgia friend recommended Dr. Perricone MD No Makeup line. I love that too. I adore the shady Contemplation photo. SOO hot here too. We golfed with friends on Wednesday and it was close to 90 but the 'feels like' was closer to 100. Drank lots of water! It's been so beastly hot working in the garden. I'm a sweaty mess every day out there. Finally sowed my zinnia seeds outdoors. They should sprout very quickly in this heat if the animals or birds don't eat them. Fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteGood for you for waiting on the zinnias..again..MINE have sprouted..the bought ones..hardly:( What's up w/ that? I see the golfers... times have changed over the years..nary a one w/out umbrella in hand.. ..J used one too but yrs ago..very few did..Ill look into Dr P:) I look into everything;););) Have a great weekend.:)
