When not in the gardens..

Truth be told if it's raining or all my garden chores are done..and it's too hot or too humid to garden.

You can find me in my cool (temp wise) atelier..painting:)

I am absolutely hooked on paints and paper and quiet zen time..painting does this for me..gardening..and baking...

These are people I paint thanks to amazing photographers who give me permission..

And then I invent a story.

Stories from France and Canada.. and England..

This one is a surprise..but she doesn't read my blog:)

Her mom was a tried and true dear blog/IG friend..We spoke of our children and grandchildren..Until she went away:(

I keep in touch with her darling daughters through IG..

All long gone:( Why does everything go by sososo fast?

My neighbour asked me if I wanted rhubarb:) It just doesn't grow for me..:( I said yes of course..

Because Jacques loves it.

I made a small batch rhubarb jam..gleaned from here ..

So nice of her..

The next day..I decided to try and recreate the delicious muffins we had in Maine..

Let me tell you..I find..that.... for me:) If I come back from somewhere with an idea..a taste.. a little je ne sais quoi..that lingers..it's a win win for that place.

This place had the BEST CC cookies.. 

And the BEST breakfast muffins..

So I tried to recreate the apple ones..and decided to throw caution to the wind and make rhubarb ones also.

Yrs ago..one of my daughters gave me Frida.. then one day I spotted the cutie ..that I plopped a string of turtles in..

Funnily enough..The Kiss was from a nursery here years ago..She is heavy..When I bought the type of jade..it was minute.One little branch...The girl said..this will never grow in the KISS..Lol look.

Never is a huge word.

The first pot and plant came almost idem..I have watered it once and it grew twice lol.

I had gone grocery shopping for a get together at my daughter's home..and found this planter and pot..and bought it for her..as her hostess gift..

I came home and regretted not adding to my family lol..

Back to the store and here she lives;)

The muffins are so good..but I have to tweak still.:)

I made apple pie filling as the centre of the ones in Maine had about a TBSP of it in centre..

And of course the rhubarb ones got my rhubarb jam.

The base is..Dorie Greenspan's Allspice Crumble Top Muffins.

So I have been asked..about these pot plants trailing plants..

To water I remove them from their fancy faces..(They are nestled in the faces in original plastic pots)and soak them in a vessel containing water..

Like I do for my large indoor fern..

Frida..I cannot remove the pot because her hair trais from one side of my sink windows to the other..

So this is the best way I can show you..

Above..soaking in a vessel of water..two of them.

When they go back in the holders..the birdcage goes here:)Hi Susan:)

These are two that I have in the sunroom in a corner..I remove them from the lamp stand..carefully ..tuck under and soak..

Once quenched..they go back in these holders that had two glass vases, but this..I kind of liked:)

They nearly ..touch the ground once in the holders..The light  above..is pretty with them in winter.

And yes I baby them.

I think I'm a nurturer:)

The Days of wine and rosees...

 

Some of you guessed that when we went away for a few days..it was for a golden anni..50 years.You were right.

I'm 70...

In the words of Diane Von Furstenberg..don't ask how old are you? Ask how long have you lived?:)

I will just say our girls are so very thoughtful.

I won't elaborate on fifty years..

Because I know we are fortunate.

I didn't IG this etc..because many I follow and many who follow me are recently  widowed.. recently even means 20 yrs..A dear auntie Bernice..when she lost Bud her husband..  she said it was like losing her right arm..Bernice did remarry twice more..and is in her nineties on her own now..What a life..

So in respect for all those who are widowed..or sadly separated..I'll just say..take care....

We also celebrated Max's graduation,his birthday and father's day:)

So it was a celebration for all.

I've added a few pics of my fave things in the gardens the last 10 days..Things happen so quickly in succession this time of year..All these plants that were asleep all winter are saying: Look at MOI...

And I am..many times a day.:)

Max went and checked out his residence..He will be a boarder next August.. for football.. his mom..oh his mom..the first to partially leave the nest..

We hope to see one or two of his games..It's not close like Oli..who we will go regularly..and one game ..Lucas plays against Max..oh lala two different colleges.

I said to J..What if one loses? LOLOLOL.

We are in for a heat wave...

Maine 2024:)Photo Heavy.

 

We went to Maine:) Left for 4 days.. but you actually just get two full days as two days are pretty much travel days..border etc..and ap 6 hrs away.

I did not bring my DSLR as I knew there would be a lot of walking..

So all phone pics..unretouched..And I am the worst camera photog.

We stayed in Ogunquit..as home base ..  so close to many  charming towns..not far at all....In fact one town..Perkins Cove..we walked from Ogunquit along the  Marginal Way.

Everywhere you look..Charm abounds..

I am not a city..museum person..I love nature.. and outdoors..not city scrapers and towers and no light..

Beach Roses.Rosa Rugosa..I have some here but they are chafer food so slowly but surely I have shovel pruned them.I did not see what bad bug on anything there.

They grow wild along the shore..

We love to walk from Ogunquit to Perkin's Cove along the Marginal Way.. It s a lovely walk  with never ending vistas

The homes..OHMYGOSH the homes..

You never ever tire ..as you can't see it all all at once..

Low Tide is so pretty also:)

I mean..

Kenneybunk PORT is very charming also:)

One lunch had a mermaid flying overhead..I only ate lobster rolls:)

The place below is bustling..this was early morn..

Love is in the air:)

Many flower boxes had pride flags..their walkway in Ogunquit.I just love the spirit of Ogunquit.

And talk about flower boxes..SPILLING OVER!!

A lovely artist was painting outside a gallery in Perkin's Cove..

I asked if I could take a pic (from the back lol) and try and paint and she said yes..

Makes me want to do oil again one day..

Then again.. her art is beautiful.

I have come home to struggling gardens.. 4 days away can do that..It's like I am constantly on them. so when I go away.It shows..

Even the garlic have scapes..
