Art..iculations... and sweater weather.

Posted her Valentine's tablescape..
I'm not a tablescaper..but she is and is stellar at it.She had this cute element on her table and pictured her from the back..Had to try.
If you remember she was instrumental at getting me back to blogging.Tirelessly she coached me:)
I'll never forget:)

I love to paint in winter..

The latter two are taken from a wonderful Instagrammer..Myriam..
You can find here here..
Montreal..is what Myriam specializes in..

I am not complaining about winter.I like this laid back time..
I can nest differently.

very cold but very beautiful here.
I would not trade..
Except perhaps my Provence and this would have had to be orchestrated over 45 yrs ago:)
For my husband? No contest..here and only here:)

  1. I am glad you can embrace the limitations winter weather hands us. Me, not at all. All I can do is see the calendar take us closer to more tolerable temps. My camera club is hosting a wonderful creative workshop I would love to go to next Monday evening. I am afraid of slipping on ice so I will have to pass.

I love your paintings. The colors are so joyful.

  2. I love the paintings and your photos! They bring a breath of freshness and intrigue that is impossible to resist, I can look at them for hours and see all the different things. The colors and shadows, the happiness and joy you must have! I would love to one day be able to go travel and see some things myself.

  3. What a wonderful outlook you have on the wintry weather, Monique! I try to count my blessings when our temps plummet and the snow and ice come. We're having a rougher winter than usual, but most days we can stay inside. That is a blessing. Having a warm little house filled with good food and a supply of wool clothing and blankets helps, too. The paintings are charming--as always--and those detailed cookies, oh my! I can't even imagine the patience it takes to create those. Stay warm and happy, friend.

    1. Good morning Pam! I don't do anything physical outside in these blow 0 temps -4 F this morning..a bit too brisk for anything plein air..my face and hands freeze over.Imagine all the homeless people.Sure hope more venues have opened with warm beds in the city.So those cookies Pam nothing easier.. I made a cardboard sweater template..I made dough..you need a dough that holds an imprint. The Starbucks is a press I have owned for many many yrs..to get a KNIT effect it's merely a silicone mold that you press your dough int.. remove..and use your cutter or template.I flour both my dough and silicone pattern.Set in the porch to firm up (No kidding lol) and bake.. If you see here in Canada.. www.amazon.ca/Knitting-Silicone-Patterns-Chocolate-Decoration/
you can find in the US.I am sure Ebay etc..all have them..You too stay cozy! Seeds started arriving.. a sign;)

  5. You nailed Linda's balloon girl perfectly! She's lovely. (And you're right about her table, her goodness in the blog world, everything.) Loved the photos of your tree meadow and the cookies, of course. I bought some little "knitting" forms but they are quite small, smaller than most cookies. Well, no worries. I can just lift and repeat! If I like doing it, I'll seek out a better, bigger version. (You are kinder about the cold than , but I will say that when the sun is out, hitting that white, it is stunningly beautiful!

  6. Good Morning from Frozen INDY!! That warm little house comment above from PAM just suits my mood and thankfulness on this iron-cold day. A while with my coffee and a Nonni biscotti as my two KIDDOS (one in residence and one here from Mississippi for a few days) sleeping upstairs after a late night of visiting. He made us soup for supper, hauling in a Coleman cooler with already-chopped vegetables, a pack of ground beef, all the cans of soup and green beans and corn, with a handy TUP of already measured cornmeal, scallion tops, chopped jalapeno and cheese. It was a sumptuous supper, ladling directly from the tall Le Creuset and having an unaccustomed cook's touch on the table. We lauded the fabulous soup with a tiny cheese course, grapes and dried figs for a worthy finish.

I've thought how lovely it must be to live in Montreal---two tiny toetip visits across your border to the Falls with the children long ago (the week after our Bicentennial for one, when the world was ablaze with flags and flowers and such good cheery welcome from Y'all up there). My only mark against Montreal is that he would have had to drive another 850 to reach us.

I echo your laud of Linda---she saved my patience and sanity a couple of times when I managed to misplace or mangle my blog---such a talented, kind lady out there waiting to rescue my woes. And you and she simply shower the world with lovely images---such marvels at a touch to enjoy.

I was delighted to see your 100 goal for the year, and have never stopped thinking of your sweet offer for the painting of that moment so long ago, when the smallest Grand and I walked away from the cemetery, after farewell to the oldest of the family. There have since been seven more additions---we're heavenly blessed. Where would I address the picture you mentioned for a model?

Just soaking in the light of your photos and words today, before we bundle up and step out to lunch and pick up a birthday cake for tonight. So much lively in the house---It all BRIGHTS me no end. Stay well and warm, dear friend.

  8. Monique, just commenting here, but scrolled down to previous posts I must have missed. I don't know. I find myself getting on line less and less. I want to spend my time with friends, or sitting by the fire stitching. It's been so cold here of late, I take my walks mid afternoon if the sun is shinning rather than early morning. Ha! Most mornings I want to stay snuggled under the covers. I have to force myself to get up and out and start my day. Your comment about being 71 made me smile. Double 7 this year. It seems foreign, but here I am. The loss of my sister makes me realize more and more that life is so fragile. Never did I ever think about her not being by my side into old age. Our mother lived to be 99. And yes, the fires and other heartaches that so many face these days. It puts life into perspective. So thank you, Monique for the joy and bright light you bring into my life. I'm so fortunate to have crossed paths with La Table de Nana all those years ago. Keep shining, dear friend!

  9. Such wonderful winter watercolors! I love how you spend winter! You never complain about the weather and find joy in so many creative outlets. Do you still snowshoe? I do yearn for spring and have been planning my garden Wish List, trying to go through my thousands of photos and delete duplicates, bad shots, etc. I sure have taken a lot of photos! LOL.
