  6. I've always lived on or near the water, Monique. Not always the ocean as I do now, but lakes or rivers as well. They all speak to me, but I can sit and watch the ocean for hours.
    Happy Thanksgiving, my friend!

  11. I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
    To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife;
    And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
    And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over......

  18. We are so fortunate to have the shores of Lake Michigan nearby and we see the both the calm blue and violent crashing waves often. You wouldn't know it was a Great Lake and not an ocean for there is nothing to see on the horizon but water. No warm breezes and sea creatures, though :)

  20. Ahhh, Monique, I love your soul food. This one calls to me as well, because the sea is such a part of my life. I miss it too, with its constant heartbeat of waves and wind.

    I've been thinking of you recently--I've discovered a Quebecoise singer, Linda Lemay. Her song 'Pas un mot' brings me to tears, and her "Maudites Francaises" makes me howl with laughter. You're lucky to have such a talent near you. A modern, female Jacques Brel?

    Hugs to you from Belgium.
