Yesterday,Tuesday, brought a gift of a different nature..gifts of a different nature...Lucas was visiting and when he arrived we walked into the sunroom and I said "Lucas did you see all those butterflies"? He said :"I know I saw a lot.".Jacques and Lucas started doing their engineering:) and I left them to themselves..wanting to see if in fact all the little flying creatures in our yard and borrowed landscape were butterflies..
And sure enough they were..I have only sized four of the many many photos I took of hundreds of butterflies landing on the rudbeckias and echinaceas..and goldenrod and hydrangeas.I must have spent an hour and went back afterwards also~
By late afternoon they were all gone..but from 11.30 until at least 3.30..I felt like every butterfly of this kind lived here:)~There were literally hundreds!~Flying ..landing..such gentle creatures.I am looking forward to examining the other photos I was able to take waist deep in wildflowers..and even in my humbler rudbeckia clumps.
It's so hard to describe the feeling..Well described by Pooh and Piglet:)
Oh Mon I'm happy you posted them for everyone to see the beauty along with Pooh's quote!
ReplyDelete:) I still kept thinking about them and Lulu in bed last night!
ReplyDeleteOne of life's most beautiful creatures...butterflies! You have captured their mosaic of color so very well. Pooh and Piglet will always be one of my favorites. Thanks for bringing a smile to me this morning!

"Lucas did you see all those butterflies"? He said :"I know I saw a lot." I love Lucas's response.
ReplyDeleteWhat a special day! Beautiful and delicate little things. You are blessed that so many stopped by to visit you,
ReplyDeleteHow special Monique. It's just amazing to me how smart that Pooh Bear is. He always knows the right thing to say.
ReplyDeleteSam
Oh, how special! Your garden was chosen by hundreds of monarchs as a refueling station on their migration south to Mexico. Lucky, lucky you! You can share your sighting on a web site that tracks the migration. Go to learner. org.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your photos. Love the Pooh quote ~ one of my favorites!
Oh my goodness - how wonderful! One time we inundated with walking sticks. Not nearly as pleasant.
ReplyDeleteSarah,I did join..log in and add the migration I witnessed, how interesting a nd thank you!
ReplyDeletePam walking sticks are quite cool though..must have been a little freaky:)
It felt like a blessing Kate:)
Pooh is SO smart!!
Ann..there's nothing Lucas says that isn't charming to me too:)
Have a great day..I remember Jain having a sighting a couple of yrs ago..never thought it would ever happen here.
I hope it happens to each one of you..
Nature is so awe inspiring.
Have a great day.
Oh how beautiful! Magical rather..Looks like a wonderful year for butterflies...I saw so many(not at one magical time like you) but at different times, many varieties, almost 12 different varieties and the one more beautiful than the other. It is, like you say, gifts of nature! And lovely photos you have..
ReplyDeleteRonelle

ReplyDeleteCheers,

Butterflies are exquisite. When I was a child, there were some bushes near our driveway and monarch butterflies loved it for some reason. We always called it "the butterfly bush". Wish I knew what species that bush was, because the flowers attracted butterflies like mad. I could stare at them for ages.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your new banner!
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of butterflies!
I'm dying over your silver napkin holder below!
:)
ReplyDeleteAhh.. the butterfly bush is in fact called that:) It's latin name is Buddleia ..If that's the bush..many photos you can look it up..they adore butterfly bushes..I've not been succesful here:(
The napkin rings were bought at Posh Chicago:)
What a wonderful and awe-inspiring sight that must have been! I've never had the opportunity to see anything like that here. Lovely little creatures!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! And you captured them so beautifully too. I am so glad the little ones got to see them.
ReplyDeleteMonique, I'm back to look at the magic again. Last night I had a beautiful butterfly visiting in the garden. I looked it up to identify because it looked as if it might be a Monarch, but yet not. It wasn't. It was a Queen. When their wings are closed they can easily be mistaken for a Monarch, but open on sees they are not. My visitor was a male I learned from the web site I visited. Such beautiful creatures. I took my camera outside and got a few shots. Nothing like your show, but I will post soon.........Sarah
ReplyDeleteJust wonderful in everyway! A gift from Mother Nature, thanks for sharing such special moments.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful Monique. You must have an excellent camera. I have a new one . . . tis just a point and shoot . . . I am sure it can do more, but I need someone to show me. In any case I do sooooooo love your photos and your thoughts. Thanks for all that you share so generously with us. Your spirit is the part of you I love the most, oh . . . I do so love Winnie too! We are alike . . .
