You may remember the door in Provence I posted on my last post..I decided to paint it..and enjoyed every minute..s:)
Mon jardin is winding down.but I can still gather bouquets..I am waiting on my Café Au Lait Dahlia and hope it blooms before frost..
Zinnias.. roses..hydrangeas.. sedum..some lavender..
I bought bags of dirt to not be caught empty handed should we still be in this situation next Spring (Please.. no)..
Made my pepper jelly again..and made again..it is very popular in our family..Serve on cream cheese..or bake brie w/ it on top..
It's easy and gorgeous and so good and I always think of Josée when I make it.

I was not able to find small Bernardin jars 125 ml..ANYWHERE..called ahead..people think that during the beginning of the pandemic.. the plant was closed and production halted.I love those..fab product ..even flipped ..and affordable.No gouging here.
Footnote..found some.. nestled here until next year.

Well I got into my little zen quiet painting mode and did another.

DeleteOh I do hope your dahlia blooms before frost. I bought some bags of dirt as well but I think I'll buy more. I have quite a few things to repot before bringing inside for the winter.

I've never heard of tomato starter. I've been making alot of tomato spread & it's very versatile too but not as flavorful as this appears to be.
Jenny..I just put a sheet over it.I think this is the earliest threat of frost ever.

DeleteI hope your dahlia plant made it through the night! We had the heat on last night too. Woke to 42F, Brrrr! Looks like next week will be nice, fingers crossed. My garden is looking a little tired but the begonias, nasturiums and dahlias are really amazing right now...and the 4 O'Clocks in the morning. Wish they would bloom at 4:00 pm though :) Here's hoping for a long and warm fall, Pea! ♥ I just checked and it's 83F in Eygalieres today. Wow! What a beautiful door, and love how you captured it. Everything you've made looks delicious! I really want to make those cookies but will wait until we know family can be here to help us eat them :) Plus the red pepper jelly is on my list! Those jars are so charming! The red checked lids, especially! Put what may be my last batch of cherry tomatoes in the oven to roast. Hope to eat it alongside breaded fish tonight.

Oh, your Provence paintings! Be still, my heart. They are so very beautiful. And is that a little tube of paint in the second? A divine blue? Oh, what color and what company -- I love the tubes!
ReplyDeleteI'm still bringing in blooms when I have them (there are precious few) and I finally whacked down my sweet peas. Doing that made me sad but they are rather hideous when nothing is blooming and it does look better, or will, when the weeds get out of the bed. So much more to do. I did bring some seed pods to scatter up here. It's dicey that they will take but I'd love it if they did!
Checking out the pepper jelly recipe. It sounds delicious. And all your baking looks -- as usual -- mouthwatering! I love those jars. I buy them to give away nuts in my Christmas baskets because usually I don't have enough Bonne Maman jars! Lovely in every way. I have acorn squash that will be stuffed with diced ham and apples and topped with walnuts and cheese in the oven now and tomorrow will make a big pot of tomato sauce -- hopefully three or four bags. Stocking up!

DeleteThe tube of paint is not paint..it's a pen..when we were in St-Rémy..we went to St Paul de Mausole..Van Gogh's Asylum (that word:( )There is a beautiful gift shop within the walls.
I loved this look like a tube of paint pen:)It has his cherry blossoms on it.♥I bought an acorn squash too! One of my fave recipes is a stuffed acorn squash:) The sweetness and tenderness w/ the filling..so good.

DeleteI can't believe we are already thinking about frosts, but the temperatures are dropping and the days are shortening. I love all your paintings Monique. I think I am your biggest fan! (I know many would contest that fact because they see themselves as being your biggest fans! ha!) I just know that I adore everything you create, be it in the garden, or the kitchen or with your paints, hooks, etc. You are so very talented, but more important than that. Nice. Monique, needless to say, each photo delights. I'm happy to see you painting and giving yourself that joy! I admire your talent. Last nnight I was admiring the pieces I have that you have sent to me as cards and framed little works. Such treasures! I picked up the card you painted with the flower crown in my hair. Seriously, I felt such emotion. Art does that!!!
