November is knocking at our door..
while October is still here~
I used to enjoy Halloween when girls were younger..even older and I would answer the door:) Then I lost the thrill until the boys appeared..boys never did trick or treat here..only two will do the rounds in more populated areas tonight ..Here the homes are too distanced lol they would rather go where the return is greater.
The chocolate cookie recipe I used this time was from..Beyond The Butter.
Still so many leaves..lol..lots more to blow..yes we blow and compost in a designated area.So many complainers about leaf blowing..we're on half an acre..and we never blow at annoying times.
I brought in geraniums.. rosemary..a big fern..kolanchoes..and trying Susan's idea of Impatiens cuttings that I potted up..apart from my other houseplants ..my work's cut out for me..sunroom and basement window full up:)
Have a good week..It’s raining and gloomy here for all little trick or treaters..
Oh and that top pic is a very good no-knead cinnamon raisin bread.I omitted the pecans and baked longer uncovered as I bake breads started in a cold oven.
Have a good week:)
Beautiful autumn in your area! Those cookies look fun.
ReplyDeleteThey are.. I will miss the gulf:(though..And I joke about it..but had I met La Provence 49 yrs ago..I would be there.
DeleteOur neighborhood completely changed in the past two year with Covid. The retirees moved out of the development and it seems all young families with 2 or 3 little ones have moved in. My street looked like a parade with all the kids and parents socializing and trick or treating. Our weather by early evening had stopped raining. Love all of your beautiful photos and the spooky set up for your spooky cookies. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThat's fun too though..I find everything has changed with Covid..Of course we havent started being in each others homes yet..I wonder when..I know many do..I'm not sure..I know my husband's age has something to do with it and teen boys in school and sports etc..
DeleteYou too have a great week Judee..Those littles and not so littles are adorbs all dressed up.
We haven't had trick-or-treaters for several years. We live in the country and most of the neighbor kids are grown. I remember the last time our closest neighbors' little boys came over, we were so happy to see them that we invited them in, gave them some money and opened the candy drawer so they could help themselves. They were so cute. They thought they'd hit the mother lode. Kinda miss those days. At least we'll be moving close to our grands soon, and know they'll come trick-or-treating. Monique, those cookies you made for your big littles are amazing!! As always, I'm enjoying your photos--isn't that arched door on your neighbor's house charming?! Your leaf colors are still stunning...what a wonderful world we live in!
ReplyDeleteI love your last comment:)
DeleteOh I bet they did think they hit the mother lode..How sweet of you..And you will LOVE living near family!Have a great week!
Your photos always just blow me away. You are so talented in SO many areas. I had completely forgotten about Fred until I was reminded by this post, so I'm going to head to their site and rummage around. The cookie recipe I'll be saving for later. Great post!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pattie..I can say the same for you and more:)
DeleteI think I forgot to click the captcha so this may be a duplicate! I loved that first photo -- beautifully styled and just glorious. And I think I need to check out that cookie cutter before next year. Love seeing all your color and fall. Happy November.

ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the link to the raisin bread...I'd love to try it! I know you did cold oven start. I'll have to go to IG and see for how long. Yum! The chocolate cookies look like something I'd love - Dia de Las Muertes or not :) We go home from the lake in time for Trick or Treaters for only had 1! Each year fewer and fewer. Just like you, here homes are not close and driveways are long. The kiddos want to go where it's door to door homes :) Lauren and I were in a local town on Saturday and they had business Trick or Treating and a costume parade. So cute!! The weather was glorious on Saturday. I only needed a sweater. Same color situation here. The yellows and golds are glorious in the sun. Digging my dahlia tubers and Black and Blue Salvias to store in the garage over winter. Picked the last of the last and brought them to Lauren...a huge bucket full or flowers. I hope your NG Impatiens cuttings work! I've had a few die but the rest are looking great. I need more indoor garden space - LOL.
ReplyDeleteOoops! Got home from the lake...
DeleteI miss the kids having a boat.I loved that.Didn't go often but I loved it.I think you are fortunate to have family with Littles AND family to do adult things with:)
DeleteFingers crossed for everything I brought inside..LOL too much;)
Monique, your fall photos grab my heart. I can't imagine the intense colors you live with. Shades of brown and gold here. But I love fall all the same. I used to love to great trick-or-treaters, but over the years the tradition here has changed. Most children attend block parties. We get very few if any knocks on the door. This year, I didn't even have our light on. I packed up treat bags for the littles that live near by and delivered them earlier in the day. I didn't want them to be disappointed, yet I knew they would be going to parties and not knocking on our door.
ReplyDeleteLove your cookies. Chocolate cookies! Yum!
Next year I will do that ..deliver to the ones I know :)Great idea.. a cute family of three(not mine) Little littles an a young girl I favor:)
DeleteIt's a lovely day..but it was 27F this AM our first frost.. almost 3 weeks later than usual!

DeleteNO leaves left on any of our trees here. Gone, gone, gone . . . I was surprised at how many children we got for Halloween here and many of them older ones. Even the parents were dressed up. It was fun. Your photos as always are gorgeous. I love all that you share. xoxo
ReplyDeleteIts funny the last two days we have been in an adjoining town..12.1 minutes away..I know this because Caro and family are moving there..and soooo many leaves left on trees!!The reds struck me as no red left here..Football playoffs.. whodathought I'd be at football.. 32 F last night..brrr..I am going to make your apple crisp I thought after 48 yrs I finally had the star..:) Going to try yours..because..you know stuff;)
