..I guess I love painting..

 Meanwhile in Québec..

Paper,pencil,pen ,eraser and watercolors

The latter is Pam hiking..she's on IG but I discovered her on her blog soo many yrs ago..She posted this pic of her and I had to try..
as always little stories accompany these..

One of my daughters friends is also a neighbour to me and she is so special..She decided she had no more need for her easel. The size is so nice for me not big and bulky..you guessed it she offered it to me.
I love it.
This is a photo of a couple I shot in San Gimignano in 2008..I could not resist..This was the quintessential..The best is yet to ne..no matter what.
I have to say that in the large cities of Italy we visited..no one can compare for style..not Paris..not NY..Not Mtl..The older people were impeccably appointed and the younger ones..knocked my socks off.Men is suits young women in the fines of the finest. And gorgeous.
There is a sense of style there..that I think may be unparalled.
Not fashion shows..regular people..working or not..In the countryside.. much more relaxed..but still..women is dresses and skirts..Loved it.
For a people watcher like me..travel has been fun.
I love seeing different.Unique.Charming.

Some sights just take your breath away.
And not always the sought after tourist places:)
Can you tell I went down the Europe 2008 rabbit hole of photos:)
Have a great week!

  1. Do you prefer painting on the easel now instead of flat on a table?

  4. Your people paintings always make me smile--that older couple--you just know that they're as cute as can be and the old fellow has perfect creases in his slacks. If anyone can put an easel to good use, you can! How kind of your daughter's friend to think of you. The photos transported me. So beautiful and calming. That shirt hanging in the arched doorway--what a wonderful shot! Always appreciate your posts, Monique.

  8. Such a joy to be greeted with that open, expectant paintbox on this frosty day! The colors and the shine, and all the promises in the pan---way past a Fiftie's-girl's Hope Chest or a Tiffany-blue box. Your "WALKAWAYS" are the charm of my days---such sweet vignettes of the ages, and such tender expression of the subjects. Your gift and eye are marvels, indeed, and your gift for sharing those is a great lagniappe over all your gardening and cooking talents.

Just sitting here looking my eyes full, occasionally running WAY back into your magical storehouse of other days, other colorful moments and days and photos on your sidebar. Maybe Aladdin's Cave would be more apt---we're all the more joyful for the perpetual SESAME of your welcome.

  9. It's fun going down that photo rabbit hole, isn't it?! I loved what you discovered. And of course, as always, your paintings. They speak volumes, especially that dear couple. I don't think I'd ever dare show my face in Italy -- they would clearly mark me as a tourist, even if I never whipped out a camera or a map or opened my mouth! That last photo of the flower pots? Sigh. So perfect.

  11. While in Milan, I could not take my eyes off the amazing runway. And we just happened to be there during their fashion week (you need to go lol). That beautiful easel will be happy in your home :-) When I was in Key West recently and was watching the sun take its final bow, I thought maybe I would start painting again and paint sunsets. Each sunset was unique, and I'll never run out of sunset photos to paint.
