Day 7~ Quartier Latin~Mouffetard~Invalides~The End~~

This sign..tugged at my heartstrings..my mom did not get to know Jacques for very long..maybe 6 months..if that...
Jacques took my mom and I out for dinner..at La Crepe Bretonne in Montréal..the one on Mountain St..in 1973~
I was 19..I was filled w/ pride that Jacques knew of this restaurant and I could see my mom..was so grateful ..

she was smitten..he took her back to his apt w/ me..I could tell my mom..liked him a lot..and I am glad that stayed with me..as she passed away shortly after..I knew I had her stamp of approval..

She has my trolley..kidding the trolley I wish I had bought in Provence~8 years ago..

I love olive trees..small..medium and large..young..or old..

If not for Carol G..I wonder if I would have noticed..

Love the corner buildings~

Charming..I think I am into charm.

La Sorbonne

Les Invalides

The views from those apartments ..!

Ball games strictly prohibited~

?:)

The banks of La Seine were receding..the bateaux-mouches were back in business..mud was under foot and couragoeus restaurateurs were working hard to restore what was there before....I was happy to see that on the eve of our departure, things were getting back to normal.
Inspiring.

We were able to walk on the banks of La Seine the day before we left..the clouds rolled in..on that last day..

A ship had docked

The car in back  was just as close..   they BUMP..forward and backward to get out..couldn't believe it..
I would cry if I found my car squeezed in like that as I would never get out.

Heading towards our place for the last time~

And then home~

♥That face :) And his poster..and flowers..
The best photo.

I took 1000 photos in Paris..
You never set up and shoot..you walk and click..w/ out stopping almost.
Grateful to Arlene to have sold me her Point And Shoot Sony that I brought along..small battery charger..and it fit in my purse.

Paris is a photographer's dream.
An adventure we will never forget~

I found out..upon our return..a couple of weeks into it..that a blogger/artist I enjoy and follow..has a little gem for rent in Montmartre,should I go back..I would be very tempted..no..I would..I just would:)

You can see her views form her rental apt..here..
I have seen the apt..so cute and clean and new..I saw it on photos..you can contact her directly through her blog.
I find the look..location...look very very good!

The end~

A few of my souvenirs..we did not shop much..the surprise of the first days and wondering what was to come..but everywhere we went..I loved gathering.:)
The card upper left w/  La Tour Eiffel..from one of our daughters ..before we left to tuck into my purse..♥
Our infamous Metro pass..photo turned over;)
And that's it...
Except..thanks to all my favorite bloggers that instilled the desire in me to GO:)

Pause Paris #6..the last pause~

There will never really be a Pause Paris..

it stays with you..no pause button.

I am grateful I went..because now I can associate things I see in photos or on television  with things I

have now seen in person.
I have seen people that live there..and talked to them.

Nothing is just a picture anymore..

It's real and it's tangible.

Like Nice has been to us for 8 years..we visited Nice  during that month we went away..and the sky was blue..and the Mediterranian  glittered...

..and La Promenade Des Anglais  became real.

And the people were real.

This post was prepared before the recent events in Nice..:(

I thought I was growing them because they are supremely gorgeous:)..
but they are so good too..

Our peas..our herbs..our borage flowers..Shrimp and Grits yet again♥

It's been summer porch weather..warmest June..a record apparently and July is just as fab.
I can hear the corn growing as I drive by the fields..empty spaces..huge..filled with greenery now.

The first basket I picked..and I forgot the cherry tomatoes..chives..thyme and oregano:(

But you get the feeling.

How nice to go out for a few minutes and come in w/ organic..food:)
I think that would be the best treat if summer lasted all yr long..growing things we eat.

The roses are half spent and I cut the side gate ones down..looks so bare now..but some are just about to bloom also..and Winchester Cathedral looks grand.
The Annabelles are in full swing..

The clematis are putting on a show..I don't know if I ever mentioned how wonderful Jackmanii and Blekitny Aniol look together..their bloom dates are identical and they try and match each other bloom for bloom:)
I like competitive plants..not competitive weeds..I know I know..a weed is but an unloved flower..not always true..invasives are horrors.

I still have some bleeding hearts in the gardens..and my pie turned out looking like a bleeding heart also~

I used Ricardo's filling for his  apple strawberry pie..but I used rhubarb instead  of apples this time....and the dough is my friend Linda's recipe:)

Oli is in soccer this year..and he has found his calling at the tender age of 6.
He and his friend Jax below were actually the little stars in this match...in my eyes.
Their moms are wonderful friends from years and years ago..so nice the kids are friends..that never happened to me.

Summer is for having  fun..
And they are doing that:)
And I am glad they are this lucky.

Day 6~ Les Tuileries and Nancy~Long..post..but I loved that day~

"Really?  You are going to be in Paris when we will be there?
Let's meet..!!"
My friend Nancy was flying to Paris ..to carry onto Dublin and London and Normandy and Roquecor..
Nancy has lived in Paris..and Ireland and the south of France..to name only a few places:)

"Jardins Des Tuileries entrance? Place De La Concorde?"
"OUI..can't wait..:)"

I was also lucky enough to have her as my front door neighbor for a few years..many of us in my small town are fortunate to call her..friend.

And the sun shone and it was the very prettiest day yet..ever for us.

You would think I had never seen a ferris wheel before~

Who lives up there in back w/ such views?I wondered:)

I need to put a tiny sailboat in my baby bathtub sized pond out back..clearly..I have a fondness:)
I could read there..

How did that get in here?:)♥
J'adore cette roue.

It's getting further..

Come on..Look..Love.
Those chairs..like in Provence..but in Les Tuileries..just waiting for us~

I have no idea who this cute couple is..hard to photo such a gorgeous spot w/out people in front~

Wow.
Et oui..wouaou..c'est impressionnant..superbe ..ravissant.
Le Louvre~

My token tourist shot.

My dear friend Nancy~
When we met up..we realized ..well I did..we both had footless black tights..a skirt and a black top and black shoes..
mine was shorter..still below the knees:)and floral..black and white..and I had band-aids on my feet peeking out through my Keen shoes
I need a pair like Nancy's.
She was trying to find out if Sennelier closed for lunch;)

The banks of La Seine were starting to emerge!~

I know everyone loves Paris in the rain.
Give me sunshine.

Be still my ♥

My fave store in Paris.♥
Staff..exquisitely nice man helped us..even let us stay past lunchtime a bit..
I could have stayed all day.

Et oui..les bouquinistes again.

Picking up a baguette..

Et du vin?

Remember..look up..look DOWN..And imbedded in the road..faces can appear~

et encore.

Back to les Tuileries..for a picnic.

Right under this tree on the pretty green chairs~

You know what? Wine tastes wonderful in a plastic crème brulée Bonne Maman container in Paris..in Les Tuileries..

Jeanne d'Arc

Superb blue door
Angels must gather there~
And many many many other places in Paris.

Everyone looks at her..or wants to.

E Dehillerin, thanks to everyone who wrote to me and suggested I see it~

Definitely my cup of tea shop..too short a time there..in and out..:(
Again lovely people helping you.

The end to a perfect sunny Paris day~♥

Nancy  did go onto Dublin,London,Normandy and the south of France..this came in the mail from Dublin..a postcard..she said it reminded her of us shopping for our picnic:)

It's grey and raining..so I am posting Paris part 6 now:)
I appreciate the summer rain here:)
Bon Dimanche!
