~May 2nd ~

I didn't paint the above:)

I did paint below.

There is a feed on IG I love..
Emilie_joly_johnson

Her family ,her life in Provence..

All so genuinely beautiful.
This is her youngest daughter..Romy:)

Meanwhile au Québec things are slow as molasses..and cool weather expected..we've been told to hold back on gardening for a while..
Secret garden scilla path..

My fave herb to grow..ever.

You can start basil plants indoors by rooting tips of grocery store basil plants..
Fred picked up my plant for me..SO grateful..

We're still not leaving the house..
I follow many accounts on IG..
I was craving tulips..can't go to the stores..an account I follow is a florist.. she is delivering a bouquet here next Thursday...while making other deliveries to the shops and such..
What a highlight that will be.♥

Listen..I am in the best possible company..it's  not an ordeal to be with your best friend 24/7..we were doing it already..this stay at home thing ..is not hard for us..although J misses his Costco..and I don't know yet what I will do for a few annuals and baskets..
But does that sound like the end of the world?
NOPE nada not at all. Sheltered..spoiled.

It's everyone else my concerns are for.EVERYONE ELSE.
God bless  everyone else.(ok us too please for a few things..)

I was wondering if any of you have seen this?
My daughter sent it to me.
I love it.

Take care...

  1. Wow! The video is amazing.

Do you have an online farmer's market nearby? Our little town has one. They open up orders on Monday & we can add to it as often as we like until Thursday night. Then on Saturday morning we drive by & they load it all into our cars. I've been able to get plants for my garden through them. And they have the most glorious fresh cut bouquets. My d-i-l bought tulips last week.

In some areas the greenhouses will take online or phone in orders as well & you can do a drive through pick up.

I do know new plants are a small thing but goodness they make life so much easier.

    1. I am going to look into all of that:) I know my hardware store has curbside for soil and such.. I have to wait it out a bit here over 60 is the cut off..I'm 66 J 79..so I have to be cautious.
All the curbsides are great ideas!
The florist doesn't take cash etc.I did an electronic transfer..
What will our future world be like?
This morning they were saying all those high rise office buildings? When you can work from home w/ all the technology..will they be white elephants?
Certainly I see a different world.
      Thank you for the tips!

  2. We share many of the same feelings -- just fine about being "in" and worrying about the "out there," wondering about baskets and other blooms and when we might get them. You're lucky with your tulip friend. I'm longing for tulips. Sorely longing. Well, I look out my window and the daffs are still blooming and they are cheery and happy and I'm good with that.

Of course I'm wildly happy at your art and thank you for the video link. Biggest sigh! Take care!

    1. The tulips ..serendipitous to see she was delivering to shops locally..I have never met her..she is opening shop here in my little town.
I am grateful..another gardener/supplier from the area delivered my 2 dahlia tubers..
      Thank goodness for delivery!
Yes no sign of daffs chez moi.I picked Lungwort today while out..slim pickings;)
      Loved the video♥
      Have a good weekend!

  4. I ordered my tomato and basil plants online and they were delivered to me mid April - perfect planting time here in NC.

  5. You are slower to spring ahead this year but I know you will catch up quickly. Scilla time is my favorite time of early spring. Ours are all but gone already. Daffodils fading fast too. But your pulmonaria is blooming and mine just started..soo there's that :) We do go to Costco and the grocery store when we need supplies but always wearing a good mask with the wire that let's you snug it across the bridge of the nose and high cheeks. We stay 6 feet from other shoppers. In and out! Costco is doing such a good job of requiring masks, setting up social distancing stations. Get home, wash hands, unpack, wash hands, wash veggies fruit, wash hands, wash containers or use isopropyl alcohol on containers when possible, wash hands - LOL. I was so lucky to get all my plants with curbside. I've been buying from them for years and knew just what to order. Now I have a dining room nursery set up until they can go into the ground. I'm not entertaining anyway so it's okay to use the space :) The light is perfect there. I just saw that video on Facebook a couple of days ago. LOVED it! I look at the photos of your boys the right and wonder when we will ever get back to watching their sports, hugging and kissing them. Overnights. You and I are lucky to have such wonderful companions at home during all of this.

    1. We are and we tell each other..there is no one I would like to do this with better than you.
Such histories we have,we know everything..comfortable..peaceful.

Our little(big) boys..what troopers they are..my heart actually breaks for them.
I bet in a couple of weeks I will go to Costco ..I need to make a mask w/ a wire..I noticed when I talk mine is not snug.
      J will stay home.
      I have forbidden him..

LOl like he ever listens. I'm not a big forbidder.

I know when Fred brings us groceries..same thing..garage overnight..wash packaging ..wash products..wash hands wash hands wash hands.
I took Costco for granted.I don't like big box stores J does..HIS Costco. Now I want it.there is safety in cod in the freezer..
      Things like that..
Nothing will be the same.. I was thinking last night without a vaccine ..cross border.. you get it..I wonder if insurance companies will cover Covid..I see a lot of people staying home.
Jacques heard Oly airport and CDG may be closed until end Sept..Paris and it's tourists?
      La vie a complètement changée.

    2. Yes, everything so completely changed. There will be more caution than ever, even when there is a vaccine. I wonder about Palm Springs next year. I just read this morning about a convent for elderly nuns with dementia, which is located just a few miles from us. 5 elderly nuns all dead from COVID. They had a hard time testing as the nuns would become too agitated when they tried to put a test swab into their noses. I'm sure no one knowingly came into the facility with the virus but someone did. So sad. Can you imagine people who have paid for trips to Europe? I'm surprised that airports in the U.S. did not close in March too. Happily pulling weeds this morning :) It's the little things now ♥

    3. How sad..about the nuns..that is awful.I can see them not wanting the test.I am going on a garden walk soon..just puttered this Sunday am..and visibly..still puttering:)x

  6. Oh là là, the one you painted!!!! Delicate, fine, gentle, beautiful! I am in a somewhat similiar shelter situation to you...Life is good, in a lot of ways I prefer it to be this simple, and then, I also long to travel, to see friends...A major lesson in acceptance...and yes, so many are suffering and will, with economies collapsing too...for now, I keep a positive spirit, that must be better for the world than negative...and it is better for me, I know that...

    1. Rita..I think of all my travel loving friends ..in a way I am so glad we did the few trips we did..even before this ..we knew overseas was probably out of our agenda.. we have never been cruisers..But think of it even x-border? W/out a vaccine will insurance companies insure? As I mentioned to Susan above..Orly and CDG probably closed until end Sept..our news reported that.
Numbers are climbing..It's the most worrisome thing ever.A man placed his wife..not old.. in an extended care facility because of Dementia..on the news he regrets and says he feel he sent her to a slaughterhouse.I was crying of course.
Every single day here 100 more deaths.
C'est triste la vie parfois..This is one of those times:(
Yes stay positive..stay well I know you love your friends..you will be w/ them again:)
      Home..hobbies..food..light..we have the tools.
      Not everyone:(
Take care and thank you for liking mon aquarelle.

My family is not discouraged which makes me feel better..just Mylène the teacher everything is up in the air and her Noah.
When this all started the motto was :Ça va bien aller..now it's Ça va mal.

  12. Monique, like you, we stay home, and like you and J, we are good at it. We are fortunate to have each other! I'm sad for those who live alone and are truly lonely. And for those in hospitals or nursing homes who can't have the comfort and compassion of famiy and friends. I've done curbside for some garden things, but miss the trips to the garden center, roaming the aisle, selecting fresh starts for the spring garden. Thankful for my pperennials. The day lilies are blooming, the iris have stopped. My oak leaf hydrangea and star hydrangea are beginning to bloom. Grateful for small things. Your path of scilla is lovely. I looked to see if I can grow here. Yes, but would need to dig up the bulbs after bloom and store till next fall. I don't have success with replanting bulbs.
Take care, stay safe, and enjoy the simple days that we are blessed with.

Not difficult to live with..;)At all.
I feel sorry for a list as long as my arm and more.
We cannot get enough carers for our extended care places.
      What a mess.Those poor people..
Anyway..I get myself into a frenzy .I swear if my mom would have been in one of those places..I would have crumbled.
Looking forward to blooms like Texas!:)♥

    2. I know what you mean. We have a friend in a care facility. She has lived in a bed for 7 years. We go visit, have food delivered, etc. anything to make her days a tad more cheerful. We phoned on Sunday and asked if she would like a milkshake. She was obviously down, not feeling perky, etc. We ordered one to be delivered. She phoned once it arrived, and sounded like a different person. Little things make a difference when one's life is so confined. Her daughters and friends can't visit. She is all alone!

  15. That is the sweetest video Monique. What a brilliant writer he is to have written that himself! My mind is always amazed at all the talent in this world, and your talent always amazes me. You are so very incredible. I know I say that all the time, but I really mean it. You have a beautiful eye for everything and your presentation is always impeccable. I have taken your cue and am trying to root basil also and have followed the sweet account of your friend on IG. I love the sharing aspect of IG and how everyone is like a big caring community, well almost everyone! Its like a huge tea party of like minded souls! Sunny and warm here today. We are having burgers and salad. Nothing spectacular. Stay safe my friend. I could not bear to lose you! xoxo

Just read our local one has been struck too.

What kind of world has this turned into?
      Leaving cookies on stoops?
Mylène had to go in and prepare her classroom for the return to school on May 18th..she found it very sad.Thursday parents will pick up childrens bags.

  16. Very touching video and so true. It does make you think. I haven’t been out except for a few times. I feel for those who are alone and so many people who have no money or food. I saw a friend who drove up to drop off something very special after losing Chloe. She dropped the gift off and I saw her down the driveway in her car. She has stopped I was outside gardening. It was like shouting to each other. Your artwork is always pleasing to the eye and of course your fabulous eye for designing vignettes.
