Nana and Oli:)And Darius.
We had my son-in-law's 50th birthday celebration at his mom's home.
She and her conjoint.. ..live on a beautiful farm.
They have built a home on the land.. his childhood home is on the land too.
It's so interesting to see working farm properties.
And this one is beautiful as well as their home.
The first level of the barn..horses..some pigs..chickens..bunnies.. It is huge.. tack rooms.. at least a dozen tractors etc.. a lift brings you up to the second floor where a fantastic collection of at least 30 horse drawn carriages are.. quite a collection.
A step back in time.
It was night.. my cell for pictures.. they don't do anything justice.
Caterers served us so many different and delicious bite sized foods..all one as delish as the other..
An outdoor fire in the deck pit.. It was sooooo windy..
incredibly so..And on and off rain..
So the celebration was indoors..
It was lovely.
The patina on many of the items up there ..:) I mean..
Like being on the set of Yellowstone.
A beautiful event.
All the Littles..his family..our family his BFF and his wife..
I am sure he won't forget his 50th.Truly..all planned with love.
Not my usual banter but it was so nice..had to share.
All the bite sized apps were delicious all served in small individual vessels.. I think were were 30..I cannot tell how many people we are when gathered.
Unforgettable.
And Im so glad Im not a high heel person:)
I remember showing farms to people as a realtor..not many it wasn't my area of expertise..but we had fermettes.. smaller equestrian properties on ap 70,000 sq ft of land..Some women wore stilettos;) Few and far between I think mostly city people who imagined them themselves as Beth Dutton;)
Had toremember this day..so I am saving it here.
What a wonderful day. Its always nice to step back in time but I must admit I enjoy my modern day creature comforts :-)
ReplyDeleteIt was..I can't believe my son in laws are in their 50's though:)
DeleteOh Monique, I'm so glad you DID share this event! That glorious horse -- Darius? -- is beautiful and so are you! I loved the horseless carriages -- can you imagine how lovely it would be to ride in one of those? I wonder how many of them still are functional. And the appetizer dinner sounds like my kind of thing -- my much preferred food preference is appetizers! I love the natural wood and all the touches, right down to the little cars on the shelves above the workbench. What a remarkable evening and I'm so glad you shared it with us!
ReplyDeleteIt was so remarkable:). They have many horses..I approached Darius:). I think most are still functional:):):My Littles go in summertime and love the premises..What a treat for them..A lot of work...It was really lovely:)
DeleteThis sounds like it was a unique experience. Thanks for sharing all the pictures.
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't been commenting on IG. I probably haven't been on it for 3 weeks. Long road trip to Randi in Tx with stops along the way going and returning home.
I saw you had been busy..tell us more..Looks like you had a ball.I hope Randi is loving her new state!
DeleteI don't know if she loves it. The weather is generally nice all winter with a bit of snow once in a great while. The Texans do not know how to drive in it nor do the roads get any treatment. So, very hazardous. Schools and businesses close for stuff we wounldn't be conserned about.

I love going there buo drt this time we decided to drive. somWe visited the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Graceland in Memphis, A plantation somewhere (I forgot where), Austin, New Orleans, an old childhood friend in Dallas, The Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah National Park.
We stop in Pa just north of Philly to visit Dani. LOTS of driving. Never Again!
Sorry, my laptop keyboard is a mess. But I think you can get the jist.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great place to visit! And what a great party for your SIL! I think it's fun to take a step back in time and see those things that were part of everyday life in years past. So educational for the younger ones, too! Monique, the first picture with you and Oli is a keeper! You just look too young to be the grandmother of those boys. Love your hair!
Thanks Pam..When Covid started..I stopped getting streaks..or highlights.. and although I wasn't sure my daughters convinced me..So funny though before receiving this photo from my daughter I snipped off two inches and now I miss them ;);) That property is just so so pretty. It's amazing it was his parents..I love homes that stay in families so much.Merci!
DeleteWow what a party venue! I am sure it was spectacular! And the idea of having all appetizers. I love that as well. Have enjoyed seeing all the barn photos and the horse, and the carriages. How elegant! xoxo
ReplyDeleteIt's their farm:)It's just so wonderful to see..Hard work..But as a visitor I could just enjoy:)
DeleteYou and Darius! And Oli ♥♥♥ What a sweet photo. He looks like a gentle beast and you look great! I can see why your grandsons (and daughters) have such beautiful heads of hair. It sounds like a wonderful event and how nice of them to invite everyone. I am in awe of all the horse drawn carriages. The white one is beautiful! I can see why you boys love going their in the summer and I'm sure Fred had such a memorable 50th. Happy Birthday to Fred!

DeleteWhat a wonderful celebration you had at this fantastic farm. Thanks for your beautiful photos... it's a pleasure to see. The carriages are a rarity and beauties with horses... love it.
ReplyDeleteWe also have farms in my area and I shop at the various farms and I am very grateful for that. There is a lot of work behind it.
Thanks for sharing, as I said a pleasure to see.
Sunny greetings from Viola
Hi Viola..Thank you..and yes I enjoyed this outing so very much.It had been so long..And it's all so down to earth:) To say the very least:)
DeleteWhat a fabulous 50th birthday party. I am sure there were wonderful stories. The carriages are amazing, that quite the collection. How special to have the event catered. Small bites are perfect for celebrations. A working farm with lots of animals is a lot of work, but also satisfying. I raised chickens and rabbits when my children were young. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThe party being inside their new home was all very fun to be served canapé after canapé all in cute vessels..spotless..the food was very very good.I am still tempted re my chickens..not sure yet..:)This farm seems to be a LOT of work.I didn't hear one complaint:) I enjoyed myself :)
DeleteHow did I miss this? What a special visit, Monique. Love seeing a photo of you. It is rare! I grew up around farms with my uncles. For a few years, my brother had a horse and kept it at my uncle's farm. Sweet memories!
ReplyDeleteSounded like a beautiful celebration! xo
