She was the most pleasant baby..Loved being rocked..woke up happy went to bed happy..My young mom friend could not get over her nature..Easy peasy. Our first was feisty lol going to bed for her was sheer torture and she let us know;)
I'm so glad they are such good friends..18 months apart.Best days of my life being a young mom..then the best ever days lol was becoming a nana.Heart full.
These are so good..I found the recipe at Simply So Good you can find it here..Keeper:)
We had two storm days.. but the 16th was the worst.I looked out and our crabapple was filled with what appear to be robins. The wind and snow..blizzard like I could not get good pics. How do these darling tiny things withstand this weather?
I think there are about 125 ft..from our gas tanks to the road..It's an area the snowblower cannot go on..so I shoveled it:( So heavy so deep..
Next yr I will try and find someone if this happens again.I usually make a path on snowshoes..I could not with the depth..Lesson learned..
I didn't have fun.;)
Inside far warmer. The girls bask in the sun.
AND TO YOUUUUU, DEARIE!! Such a blanket---I wonder if the Princess and the Pea required such a coverlet to match all those 100 mattresses beneath her. We're still "snowed in" in that we're limply held hostage to the five or six inches which block my feet at any exit from the house. I simply cannot afford ANY kind of slip or fall, and the vigorous young man heaving all the grocery order onto our solid-white porch was a fine sight to see, stamping up the steps and carrying three-too-many at once.
ReplyDeleteAnd your company!!! M. and Madame Rouge, with company dropped in for tea---they're a pale chorus here, as well, and our Weatherbush, not nearly the size of that white-frosted cupcake of a hedge you've got, is where ours reside---sometimes we can hear their little conversations when the windchimes still and the evening breeze has a hush. Your Miss Frida is a happy little companion, and her less-outgoing friend (I'm thinking Gertrude, perhaps---weren't they TIME contemporaries, if not acquaintances?) seem quite Spring-like and festive in their June Cleaver pearls.
We're still INNNN, and want for nothing---our quiet days punctuate by texts from GRANDS and our youngest son who peppered yesterday with poetry and prompted constant repartee all day, from onomatopoeia to Samwise Gamgee---amazing the things we can think of to talk about.
Stay well and warm and bright as your welcoming windowsills.
Oh, Dear Heavens!! I just went back and happened to really SEE that trench you carved!! Frightened in retrospect at the risk and energy, and WAY impressed at your strength and vigor. Yep, you did it. I can tell by the sharp corners and precision, and the BLUE is perfect. Girl you DO beat all.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't cheery Rachel:( I got grumpy. So I wont take credit..However.. the delivery man..who walked all the way up our walk.. instead of leaving the parcel.. in the driveway mailbox .I said :"Oh you didn't have to walk all the way up" He said:"I'm so glad I did..That's a nice person living in the moment finding joy in taking the road less traveled but feeling joy in his work:) He made me appreciate my day more.. Rachel your youngest:)I had to Google onomatopoeia..I once knew the word in French and it's definition..but had too look it up again:)Even had to look up Samwise Gangee:) I was never a LOTR gal:) My husband was very much so..
DeleteI want for nothing either. My home is my haven.
No need for much more anymore really.
:) have a lovely weekend!
Happy birthday to your sweet daughter. So happy to hear the girls are close. A nice close knit family with so much love. The snow is amazing. So sorry you had to dig your way through the snow. That was quite the task. Love your Freida and lovely friend with their pretty tresses. Stay warm and cozy in your lovely haven.
ReplyDeleteTrying:) Honestly this is a record yr for snowfall..Mtl was paralyzed.Im in the country easier to maintain as people have garages..Driveways..but in the city a lot of parking is on the street..Cars were buried..bicycles etc..and some got snowplowed..AS of yesterday only 30% of clean up had been done in certain areas..And yet Mtl is used to snow..Just not this much..Yes I am happy the girls get along well too:) That's been a void in my life:(
DeleteOMG, your weather!!! Next year think about hiring a snow removal service. You’re both too and in years for this.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the champs.
Happy BD to your daughter and I hope you had a good one as well.
Hi A! We do have a contract with a snow removal company for the driveway,he finally gave in a few yrs ago.He has always enjoyed blowing pretty paths around and to the front door..But the snowblower can't do the gas tank path:( So if we get this much snow agin next yr.I will hire someone for that path.Jacques is different than most.He looks at maintenance as exercise:) ) This yr..record snowfall..LOL. Not my fave. You know I like winter this is too much.Lots of peeps getting their rooftops cleared too..Mtl was chaos! It was fine.I shovelled...my birthday fun;)
DeleteSuch a beautiful photo of your girl. Yes! Being a mom and grandmother are at the top of the list for me, too. Thinking back to those early years makes me tired, but every effort was worthwhile. Monique, I think your idea to find someone to help with moving snow is a good one. My gosh, you moved a ton (and I'm sure it felt like a ton when you were finished). After one of our snows, I went out to clear sidewalks. I ended up hurting my left arm and it took weeks to get back to normal. My husband used to do all the outside work, but since his stroke, that's not an option. I think I'll have to get help, too. That's okay. We've worked hard for lots of years, and maybe the time has come for us to let others do the heavy lifting. Love the little girl you painted. So sweet! I hope you have a good weekend. Our temps are supposed to climb a bit. Hallelujah!!!
ReplyDeletePam we need milder to get rid of some snow..I will absolutely get someone for that path next yr.I got in a crabby mood. Not worth it :)Yes those yrs were the best. One of my daughters sent me a touching video yesterday about a daughter wondering if her mother missed the life she could have had..and the comments.I honestly never felt that about raising children.I'll see if there is a way to attach it somehow..Shovelling causes many heart attacks..so I am cautious.I hate shovelling dirt.I have shovelling snow.Usually my snowshoes work perfectly and I don't get crabby lol.I hope your husband is perfectly recovered Pam.And yes I admit we have worked hard these past 51 yrs...It's different today..(Doesn't every generation say that?)I hope you have a good weekend too:)
DeleteI found it Pam..the comments are as touching

Oh my gosh, Monique, that touched my heart. I've been sitting here, thinking, and I believe I can honestly say I have never ever regretted being a mom; and I don't think I've ever considered a different life. I need to pass this on to my daughter. Thank you so much!!
DeleteSame!! Never ever ever ever have I wondered or wished for a different life than being a mom to my daughters:) I knew this would resonate with you:) .:)
DeleteMonique, I forgot to thank you for the well wishes for my husband. He has made a good recovery from his stroke, thank God! We've been blessed with great doctors and physical therapists. There are definitely some changes in strength and dexterity in his right arm/hand, but there are also some very positive changes, too. He's much more laid back now and laughs often. I believe he's happiest when the grand girls are chasing him, lol. We're very grateful.
DeletePam,that is great news..I believe those are moments of PURE joy.Thank goodness for our memories.I remember playing with all our grandsons too and my face just lit up when I was with them..Jacques' too.And of course they still do but they are men:) Young men but men..:)
DeleteHappy birthday to your lovely daughter. What a gorgeous childhood photo. And that fougasse -- it's one of my favorites and Rick doesn't make it often enough! Be very carefully shoveling -- that's how I landed on the back of my head a couple of weeks ago and it hasn't been pretty. Those robins -- they look cold but so pretty! Happy weekend -- stay safe and cozy!
ReplyDeleteI hate shovelling lol a definite mood changer:) LOL Don't worry I will be careful..You can fall at nothing and let's face it our bones are not as strong as they were.I hope you feel perfect now:) Bon weekend!
DeleteHappy Birthday to your sweet Caroline! I'm with you, how can the birds withstand such cold? I see them flocked around the bird feeder, smiling to think I'm helping them at least to eat. I just filled it, and it needs filling again.
ReplyDeleteKudos to Canada's hockey team. I love the thought that this group of men played as children, pursued their passion and continue to play today. Do your boys play hockey? I forget.
I don't like the thought of you out shoveling that kind of snow. Please hire someone! Or perhaps one of the boys might do this task.
Stay cozy my friend.
They played on the street young..but that fateful day when a football coach was at a resto when Caro and family walked in..their path changed..So young also so very very young. All into football and basket as a side in school..Not Lucas as he will be leaving for football to Calgary for uni.:(I will hire for that path next yr.Dare I admit I just ordered a smaller blower for that path.Hopefully it is good:) I ordered perfume too as a reward..LOL.I am always rewarding myself..someone's got to do it;)Staying cozy..steaming my floors..I have to deserve my reward;) self-imposed duties..J has nothing to do with the imposition of them.:)Bon weekend:)xo
