I have been going overboard in the gardens..my immediate neighbours to the left and right have gardeners now to put the beds to sleep (and RIGHTLY SO)..But I confess to not loving it as much as I used to..If I could annihilate the invasives..I might be more encouraged..But everything I chop.. Beside..Invasives that only get worse...I have very few left to put to sleep. One I have actually abandoned and I let it look after itself..Far right way back..;)
In between I do gentler hobbies;) Painting and baking..
Butternut sqash soups..Jacques make my favorite BS risotto...
I made a salted caramel sauce..(next time) To flavor my buttercream for the cupcakes Sunday..
I fell IN LOVE with this Van Gogh palette..ever since we went to St-Rémy I love him even more..
The above is a Chris Petri you tube tutorial.Google him and You tube and you are set!!
I watched this on my own.. and enjoyed it.
Charming.IMHO.
I'm all about scents and colors and comfort food..and football once fall hits QC..
I need comfort..:)
As I type I am so very concerned re Fl..and Milton. The worse is hitting where we used to stay.Seeing people evacuate..seeing the mess Helene left and now they start over..
I have neighbours who own there..
It's tragic.
:(:(:(
What's happening in Florida is dreadful. We have friends there, too, and I don't know if they evacuated or not. I certainly hope so.
ReplyDeleteLovely days, even with all the gardening. I'm going to wait until after Thanksgiving to finish mine. I'm still pulling carrots and beets and waiting for tomatoes to ripen. I'm getting tired of it all, though and will be glad to take a bit of a break.
Lovely images.
I get tired of it too when things wane..Florida was not as bad as they thought..just watching the news..Still bad but not as bad..Poor them..I can't imagine all the problems ..
DeleteWhen I read your first four words, "
ReplyDeleteWhen I read your first four words, "...Lucky to be cozy," my heart ached for every single person who will not have four walls, a floor and a roof today, or tomorrow, or for months to come. What an unbelievable beating Helene and Milton brought to so many. I keep praying for them and for God to send the helpers to bring them restoration and hope. Monique, thank you for the beauty of this post and every single one you've created. No matter what is going on in our world, there is still beauty if we look for it.
ReplyDeleteIm watching CNN now and the devastatuion.. what a mess..what a true mess..so much ..I cannot even imagine..
DeleteHere we lose power and its a big thing..The waterfronts have had floodiing..but nothing like this..Really sad..and not all are insured;:( Thank YOU.
Such sad news about Helene and Milton causing so much destruction. I feel for so many who have lost loved ones, their homes, business and more. Lucky to be cozy is so meaningful. Your sound looks and sounds delicious. You are such an avid baker and artist. Stay cozy.
ReplyDeleteI don't work..I have time:). It is a way to focus elsewhere..than in my head on one thing:)The area we stayed at for so many yrs was in the eye..I keep searching for updates...
DeleteThe devastation with Helene and Milton :-( I have been keeping in touch with my corporate office in Clearwater, and my friends in Bonita Springs all week. We are lucky to be cozy, and today there is a Flannel Alert here....our high is only in the 50's. My body isn't used to the cold yet.
ReplyDeleteChilly here also.. Not too problematic right?:):):
DeleteI loved Nobody Wants This. Cute and charming and I loved the characters. You are now into canoodling season, with the gardens put mostly to bed. You can relax now and paint to your hearts content and bake. Love Butternut squash soup and risotto as well. I think my sister has done some Chris Petie tutorials. I always love your art work. You are such a talent. Like you my heart goes out to Florida. Such devastation. It truly is tragic. xoxo
ReplyDeleteMarie..renewed for a second season. The cast of characters:) Loved them all:). Just have to dig up dahlias..and plant garlic...THEN the LEAVES.. so many leaves....Chris is great Marie..so many tutorials.I have never NOT liked one.
DeleteI love that Victorian scene and your Vincent palette! Having gardens is a lot of work! We have help now too. Not an expensive professional service but we've been lucky enough to find energetic college kids working at the golf courses where John plays. The last thing I need to do is dig out the dahlia tubers (waiting for the first frost to do that) and also remove and repot the begonias that I overwinter in the garage. I love how you relax after working in your gardens. I want some of that luscious soup! ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteNo help here yet..one day..Oli did help that day but then he was in a cast:( Poor darling.. now its off and he may have the opportunity to play the last game. His team is not in playoffs.. Max either..Maybe Lucas..I planted the garlic today..:) I always love when that is done..J mowed the lawn ..it looks fresh still have lots of leaves to transition..Chilly this aft..I am so glad it was warm when I did the garlic:). I am waiting too for the dahlias..and I may not divide.. I may leave as is.:)I find the days fly by..FLY by..much too fast..
DeleteI like Kirsten Bell, I will take your advice and watch it. Your painting is lovely :-)
