I was browsing around for something or on Pinterest..(which I never am..lol)..and found a cute watercolor that mentioned a watercolor watch..the cute art work led to a site and a video..
I wanted to make it then and there.
That was late yesterday..
Today's snowglobe pretty morning turned into a mess of freezing rain and rain.
so I retreated to the craft room..
And began..
I knew I had a very vintage piece of Velcro..from when my daughters were small and you know how old they are;)
I wondered during the night if it was long enough.
I also wondered what I would use..and thought of a small flip top container that was pink that came in a $ store travel necessity bag.
So many items could and would be perfect.Just opening my girlie drawer of make up and things..little round blush compacts would be ideal too..and of course more beautiful ornate things..
so I was stuck w/ a pink box and an old cream sort of velcro..most probably discolored white..
I looked at my fabrics and what would go w/ pink..to hide the ugly Velcro..then I cut the fabric to glue onto the strap.
I made a little round label..w/ World Labels template..and a digital download of a flower from and We lived happily ever after.
A craft punch..and glued the label to the see through pink container..filled it w/ small samples of watercolor..they suggest you paint the lid white to mix your colors..
A water brush..small journal..good to go:)

How nice was that artist/photographer and daughter to share this?
Hope you find it fun too.
If you are going to add fabric.. make sure you lift the watch to tuck the fabric under w/ glue.
What else?
My wrist is so small..I needed much less..and still cut some..you have to leave one part..unfabric..ed..for the 2 velcros to join.
Once that container is stuck on the Velcro..it is STUCK..don't even think of moving it;)
I did..and it did not work. But luckily the measurement divas were with me..and all was well.
Let the paints dry..perfectly before closing up shop:)/Watch.
PS forgive the tint in my fotos..it's as dark as anything w/ the rain..I went to a window..but you know..
I wish I would have had a different Velcro and case..etc..to do it a little better..but it was a nice starting point.
I know Susan would not mind me stealing her line for this;)
Below.. what my peony garden can look like when it's not under snow and ice..it's hiding you see..like the paints in the watch:)
Sounds like a great craft and so cute too. Sorry you are having such terrible weather, but Spring is just around the corner.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Mary
It is?:) Thank you!
DeleteThat IS so stinking cute!! I used to paint with water colors years ago. Now I can't remember why I gave it up! Time to head to the art supply store!
ReplyDeleteI was excited when I found it:)
DeleteOh, I love your peonies! It's almost too warm to grow them in SC, except in the upper part of the state. I found one, however, growing at our lake house last spring. I was ecstatic! I watched it grow and when it bloomed, I squealed with delight. I can't wait for it's return.
ReplyDeleteI have a FEW months!
DeleteI am ready for peonies! Yes. it is stinkin' cute!
ReplyDeleteI have a long way to go!!Not as long as I did though:)
DeleteThat mini-watercolour watch is indeed so cute!
ReplyDeleteYou'll be able to paint your beautiful sketches everywhere, when on holidays or a walk :)
Have a lovely day!
Camille tu es parfaitement bilingue! En Angleterre tu dois te débrouiller partout!
DeleteOhh, how exciting!! I love it when you show us things that you create like this. You amaze me. As usual, very well done! You can carry it with you wherever you wander! I will look forward to seeing beautiful new creations from you from your use of this very beautiful, very inventive, very well done water colour watch! You amaze me! xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou have to make one! I thought of you right away..I only just discovered it..do make one or two..I loe it when you show us new things..always!
DeleteI just might do that! I love it when YOU show us new things too! xo
You are so talented Monique. I cannot imagine making that beautiful watch, much less cutting velcro to fit. Your peonies are so pretty, I wish they would grow here...
ReplyDeleteSam
Ahh but you have bougainvillea..and hibiscus..and jasmine, gardenia, plumbago right now?
DeleteI have sparkly trees full of ice and snow..
This was very easy once I got my head around the illustration..just so lucky I had the Velcro..it's a stretch to get Velcro here..hhhm..maybe Walmart..I will look:)
Too stinkin cute :-) Yours is much cuter than the one in the video!
ReplyDeleteI loved his..very modern art..won't get dirty..I bet so many could be so adorable!
DeleteDon't you love that saying?:)
How adorable! And yes...stinkin cute. Love those colors.
ReplyDeletePeonies are a favorite with me...no way in Florida, but I remember my daughter having a big glass bowl of them on her table in Paris. She always sends me photos from NYC when she has them out on a table there.
I think peonies are romantic..great artists painted them..we grow them..there are so many varieties now..a farm close by specializes in them..I just don't have the heart to make more gardens..or enlarge the ones we have..never thought I would say that..:)
DeleteYou must be all tucked in now?:)
What a great idea. I love your fabric choice, it is so cheerful. We had the same weather yesterday too but thank goodness not too much ice. Nice that you had some Velcro with the day being nasty. Nothing worse than wanting to get something done and not having the supplies to do it on hand. I bet you will put it to good use. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteThanks Terry..today..glitter trees:) Beautiful!I agree ..searching for the items you need far and wide..is not fun..:)
DeleteYou definitely make wonderful use of nasty weather. I'm always amazed at your creativity Monique!
ReplyDeleteSo much fun to make!Thanks..Enjoy enjoy every day there:)
DeleteWell that is the cutest thing ever. And, I love the scissors and fabrics and green rose bracelet. My daughter wears many bracelets on her arms. Peonies. Is there a more beautiful flower? Wordsworth has a line in ODE that I always remember - "to me the smallest flower that blows, give thoughts that do often lie to deep for tears". Let's hope for that early spring the almanac predicts.
ReplyDelete"too"
DeleteWhat a beautiful quote Donna..I am sure I will reread and rearead..
DeleteI like bracelets:) A silver one of my mom's is on my writ 99% of the time:)
Fun little gift for a painter:)
You have seen my typos..EVERY day;) I knew it was too..I read typos well..I am so used to them..one of my daughter's and I typo alike;)
DeleteWhat a clever idea to have your watercolors right at your finger tips. You are so creative, Monique. You inspire me every day.
ReplyDeleteEveryone inspires ME:)!!
DeleteMon Ami, I don't understand how the weather can be so defiant to your magic spell. Fortunately, your creativity has always had a positive effect on me and many others, I gather.
ReplyDeleteAnd, if I haven't said it before, thank you for being a friend.
I have missed you so much and I know everyone else has too!
DeleteThank YOU for being a friend..
I am humming that in my head now:)
oh my gosh i love this and how you put yours together...are those other bracelets your as well, its all so pretty, it sounds like you were having such fun in your craft room. and the photo of peonies makes me so so ready for spring to be here :)
ReplyDeleteYou have to make one..I bet yu can find everything at a $ store or Joanne's:)
DeleteOr Hobby Lobby..$ store would be very reasonable..I think I saw Velcro at WM in the USA:)
It is easy..no sewing..the only thing I had to glue was the fabric..if you don't cover the Velcro you do not even need glue:)
I quite like a plain black band:)
Yes the bracelets live here..we have stores that seem to manufacture them:)
They are fun..the older you get..less is best..or more..very reasonably priced here..
Spring will be here soon:)
That is the dar cutest thing! You are so talented! I could never get it to look so adorable!
ReplyDeleteBravo Monique!
Oh....don't get me started on Peonies....love them! I have 3 at home and 2 at the cottage...
Always anticipate their buds....
Have a great rest of the week...
Cheers!
Linda :o)

DeleteHave a great weekend too!
Such a darling watch, Monique! I'm sure that it can tell time as well, at least twice a day :-)
ReplyDeleteAmalia

:) It's hands free! In more ways than one..we are witty today:)
DeleteThat paint watch is so darn clever M. Of course, leaveittoyou to think of a way to make it pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteI think black would be cool:)
DeleteBut alas I only need 1;)
Thanks A!!
Just browsing through my emails, catching up with all I missed while we were on vacation and had to start with this post first :) It is so stinkin' cute and what a wonderful idea to carry your paints on your arm for a little al fresco or wherever paint sketch! Gosh, you did a great job of making yours. I don't mind at all and am so flattered that you like to say stinkin' cute too. Oh, the flowers and smells in California! I said to one of my friends how wonderful it was to smell sweet outdoor smells again and touch green grass. How time flew! We've actually lost a lot of snow here in the week that we were gone and J and I were able to take a walk on the nearby golf course. Just a few weeks 'til spring!
ReplyDeleteI missed you..LOL..it's true!
DeletePS looks like paradise..I heard so much about it many yrs ago..someone I knew visited..a few times..
so glad you had fun..I never doubted it:)
It is gorgeous! Very dry as it is in the desert but the views are spectacular. Lots to see and do and lots of golf, of course ;)
