Vincent~♥

Poor shot..some artists tools through glass there.

A Vintage Reeves metal paintbox w/ waterwelll.I replaced the very dry old pans w/ mostly Van Goghs and DS.

I absolutely love this  song

Don McLeans Starry Starry Night

I used to..but now I listen and I get so teary eyed.

When we were in Provence..we stayed a stone's throw away from St-Paul de Mausole..
Also known as the Asylum.
It is beautifl.
It is very sad too though.

There are patients there..who go for walks with their families..and caretakers..and their plight seems so heavy.

Van Gogh spent one year there..
when you visit it..you are allowed to see where he slept..the grounds..the interior.
The baths I am showing..were cold water baths..
They used to think it helped depression as it focused the mind elsewhere.
Reading the posted pages describing psychological issues back then and now ..
heartwrenching.
St-Rémy is known for the walk of van Gogh..his paintings..copies of them and all along a walk from the site to town.

You would not believe the walkers in St-Rémy.
I had a few moments where hardly anyone was there one early morning.
Usually it is very busy.Full parking lot and allées.

Van Gogh sold only one painting during his life..
The Red Vineyard.

Now..  there are records of the sales of his paintings going as high as 75 million for Dr.Gachet,in 1990.

Poor Vincent struggled so much and was so misunderstood.

They have art therapy ..the light is magnificent..
It is not hard to imagine what it was like back then as there are still patients.
