Takes me a while to get with the program..
One thing I do like though is that we get to eat dinner in light..
so I can snap a pic here and there..
pasta has been up front lol as you can see..
Carbonara..and Penne w/ rapini and bacon..actually both have bacon..lol..so bacon figures big time too..
We love rapini..and this dish is a staple here..carbonara..I think it had been at least 1 yr since I made it last..anyway..see that bread?
That's my friend Susan's recipe.
I love it..I made single..and would not hesitate to make individual ones..in fact I will:)
this bread ..is layer after layer of..well maybe like a "GRANDS"?
I had some once and maybe I am wrong but this bread reminds me of that..pillowy puffs of bread..garlic..butter..and look at the color:)
Easy peasy I did what she did..bread machine..we both have the same one:)
You just pull apart the delicious layers..and you know what? Jacques toasted some pieces to eat w/ Frédérick's bouillabaisse..and he loved it..
it's a win win bread.
And cute.
A sweet surprise of pretty seed packets arrived in the mail..I'll be potting those up tomorrow I think..thank you so much Terry...
we had a lot of snow again yesterday..and everything had thick sifted icing sugar everywhere..
I organized my craft room yet again..and we are celebrating Jacques' birthday weekend..in fact it's Susan's bday today..Jacques' was yesterday!
Hope you are all having a nice weekend..
PS Look how cute this is..Jeanie made it.
And look..look how darn cute for Mother's Day.. Susan Branch's crown..
So many cute ideas everywhere.
Happy Birthday Susan!!
🎶Happy birthday Jacques🎶🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈
ReplyDeleteI but you made him a gorgeous cake!
Those pasta dishes look so delicious...and those seed packets are a work of art!
I will leave the bread making to you Monique....you are The Master 👍🏻
Bit of rain here today...and some sun too!
Enjoy your evening...
Cheers!
Linda :o)
We had so much snow!!
DeleteThe cake is cute..but I am not sure..I'll post if it's worth it:)
No master of anything..Jack of all trades:)
Jacques says:"Thank you Linda!"
Oh, I love carbonera! That looks so yummy. And I love DST too -- I wish it was this way all year long. I don't care how dark the morning is but I love the late light!
ReplyDeleteThe bread looks and sounds fabulous. I'll have to pass it on to the resident breadmaker! And your seed packets are so pretty. Almost too pretty to plant but I would and bet you will, too!
Tell Jacques a very happy birthday and thanks for featuring my banner! Surprised and delighted! (I loved that sweet crown, too!)
He had fun! He loves being w/ everybody:)
DeleteHe reads all the comments so he will see your wish to him:) Have a bon dimanche!
Thank you, Monique ♥ Please tell Jacques Happy Belated Birthday from me! At the baby shower today, the dad-to-be is a birthday boy today also :) Your pasta and the bread are a match made in Heaven and your bread turned out beautifully! I know I will make this again and again. I love Jacques' idea of toasting it! What a sweet gift from Terry. I should try calendula again. I love those sweet flowers ♥
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Susan!
Delete:)
DeleteIt is a keeper Susan..like you lol:)♥
Thank you, Terry! Ha-ha, thank you, Monique ♥
DeleteCarbonara is a fav of mine, but I don't make it. That bread is so pretty and I bet very good too. Tell Jacques a lady all the way from Oklahoma says happy birthday. My seedlings are getting so big I need to repot them if they don't go outside soon.
ReplyDeleteHe will see this and smile at the comments:) I seeded grass for Easter nd boom 3 days later I need to mow it in my bunny planter!
DeleteYes, Happy belated birthday to Jacques! In the Hamptons it is shades of brown. We didn't get all of the snow that came to the city last week. Love your seed packets. The bread looks amazing -- Your pasta looks relish. I was in Boston this week and had dinner at Lucca in the North End. Appetizer was risotto with lobster, bacon, haricot vert, to name a few of the ingredients.... very yum. I don't usually decorate for Easter but that banner is an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI love the sound of that..:"In the Hamptons".always sounds like a vacation:)Boston is so pretty too:)I know..that banner is adorb..wonder if that crepe paper is still hanging around somewhere:)
DeleteOh... your book, should I read The Kitchen House first? (p.s. your pasta looks "DELISH")
ReplyDeleteYes Kitchen House 1rst..as right off the bat in this second book..it's evident you should know what happened before..the only reason the book is stil in my sidebar..I had to return it before finishing it...just waiting to get it back..very good books IMHO.:)
DeleteHow scrumptious! Especially love that pull apart loaf!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I don't get the day light saving time thing! LOL...I once heard that it's not really "saving" anything! hahaha...well, but it's certainly nice to still have day light during dinner hours. That's about it! ;)
I don't either..:)
DeleteYes..that's the only plus to me too:)
I'm happy the seed arrived. Going between countries can be tricky. Hope you have great success with them. I believe Hudson Valley Seed is having sales and they ship to Canada. You might want to see what else they have that you might "need" (sort of like "needing" another cookie stamp!). Best wishes to Jacques. I know the cake will be great and the company of all the family even better.
ReplyDeleteI wil look today..now that the festivities are over till Easter:)
DeleteLOL cookie stamp..BTW you need to go to WS they have a 20% off Easter..go see the cute PR cookie cutter set,\..you and miss K perhaps?:)Even the box is cute:)
Merci encore..
:)
Happy belated Birthday to your Jacques! I know you made him feel special on his day. I love Daylight Savings Time and I wish it stayed this way all year long... light in the evenings (of course a good part of that is due to longer days... which I love). Oh, your meal looks divine, Monique! Pasta and bread. YUM! Hope you have a wonderful week. blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteps that was my daughter... why "I" looked like the boys' momma. hee hee. ;)
OMG LOLOLOLOL..You are so sweet and honest..you two look so much alike! And I still believe people must think you are their mom sometimes:)
DeleteBeautiful lady:)
Yep..carbs..:) Moi..Moi Moi.
Tout sont mignon ici!
ReplyDeleteToujours. A deliciouse aussi!!!
Merci beaucoup Carol!
DeleteHappy Birthday to Jacques!!! The pasta and bread look divine. Did you design the seed packets and pouch? Quite beautiful:-). Spring is fully underway here in the south, and I am so looking forward to being back in the garden.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteAgain in seeing your beautiful boy ..Ithought of that song from Mr Holland's Opus..Beautiful beautiful beautiful boy:)
I did design the pouch:)Not the packets..:)
It will feel good to have the sun on my face..peering in the dirt..exploring again:)
I saw that bread on Susan's blog and pinned it. You beat me to the actual baking, but I am going to make it. Happy birthday to Jacques! We are finally back home and have started to settle in. Spring is in the air. Seed packets are such a part of Spring.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty fun easy and delish bread to make..welcome back!!
DeleteIsn't it amazing how we can stay in touch from anywhere?
I'm with you on the DST, it does take a while to adjust. But I think I loaf of Susan's bread would cure me quite quickly of any problems I was encountering! Happy Birthday to Jacque - hope it has been a wonderful weekend. I know you made it that way :)
ReplyDelete:) My daughter made it special..we alternate events:) Usually Jacques' bday is at Caro and Fred's..it was lovely..mine and Caro's..at Mylènes..Easter here.. etc..etc..I love that..and we all bring something for birthdays:)
DeleteIt takes a long while..especially here in Siberia:)
I really want to make that gorgeous bread! Susan has such wonderful, beautiful recipes. And the pasta looks fantastic! Thank goodness for daylight :) Have a lovely week Monique!

Happy Birthday to Jacques! 🎂🎈🎂
ReplyDeleteOh that bread! You and Susan are making me hungry :-)

DeleteThe bread is so yummy!!!
ReplyDeleteOh boy, where do I start! Your pasta looks fabulous. I will be happy that this week I can really get stuck in and start doing some real cooking again! (Real housework too, well maybe not so much, lol) The bread looks amazing. I need to bake some bread. Soon. Your garden seeds, can't wait to see what grows. You have such a beautifully green thumb! Wasn't SB's latest post just delightful! Love all she writes/paints, etc. much like all you write/paint/cook. You are my French SB. No lies. Love you to bits! xoxo
ReplyDelete♥ You mame me SMILE out loud Marie..Rosey Tinted Spectacles:)
DeleteSoon..2 more days and the book is done? And Mr T is all done w/ his treatments.I hope this week..brings so much good to you both:)
Mmmmmmmm...yammie food...love happy week Ria x ❤️
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteA belated birthday wish to Jacques, I'm sure you made the day special for him. I loved Susan's bread, pinned but haven't made it as of yet. Seeing your photo has reminded me that I shouldn't wait although I don't have a bread machine like the two of you lucky ladies. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Karen..Susan and I lucked out a few years back..I had a huge machine.. and a broken one..I happened to findthis small Sunbeam one for $30 some odd dollars and so did Susan..it is top rated..almost 5 full stars from over 1700 reviewers..
Deleteyou certainly don't need the machine..but I can't see myself w/out one..
maybe you should give it a try?:)
Everything you do ..you do so well..
we're having a long winter Karen..you must be enjoying FL:)
oh my goodness, its lunch time now and that bread and pasta looks wonderful. and your seedpackets are so pretty hope spring is coming for you soon. enjoy your week :)
ReplyDeleteYou too Jenni:)
DeleteI noticed the bread right away! I don't have a bread machine but I do love to make it the traditional way once in a while. I'm going to look at the link. There was an Italian restaurant in Chicago years ago that served bread sliced, but not all the way through. Inserted in each cut was several types of cheese. It was reheated in an oven just until the cheese melted. Heavenly. Your picture reminded me of this.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Jacques!
Jane x
Oh that bread sounds great! Thanks Jane:)
DeleteDelicious and healthy and varied, such an art form that you enjoy! Those seed packets; Very fine!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Jacques! The pasta and the break look heavenly. Your garden is waiting and I am sure it will be fabulous.
ReplyDeleteCarbonara....one of Tom's favorites <3.
ReplyDeleteAs for DST.....I find that it doesn't affect me since I retired. :-D
