Below a little one I made like the turquoise one:)I only persevered because Kathleen suggested I do:)
It's right around the corner..
I think my favorite years for Valentines were my primary school years..
I loved giving out Valentine's..they are so cute..
Julia Child and her husband sent some out every year..
I also loved giving my Littles cute furry friends..but last year Jacques said..:"They are getting too old for this..:("
So cards this year..sending cards..to my beaux..my Little beaux♥
We get together as a family on or about that time..because we celebrate some birthdays..
Caroline..our bébé..turns 41..I already know what I am bringing for desserts etc..
I'll have to share after the date if they turn out..
I am loving crocheting as you know and made another cozy in wool..Kathleen told me to :"Not give up":) So I unstitched the awful one and tried again..
However..that first photo..and below ..is a cozy Kathleen made for me..
I don't collect MC..but I follow fervent collectors of MC..and when I saw the first tea cozy Kathleen knit like this ..I thought..:"wait...Stop the car....I love this! It's MC..and Mary Engelbreight!"All knit up into one..
so I asked is she could knit me one aslo..♥
A treasure.
You may remember the Beige and pink one she made for me.
She is an expert knitter.
And such a very nice person!
She was offering some of her beautifl knit facecloths for sale..they just happened to match 3 of the soaps I brought home for myself from Provence:)
I see all the errors in mine..crochet..and how hard is red to photograph?
Just look at Susan Branch's beautiful book..Love..a gift to me that I cherish..and the vintage Valentine..also a gift..
I think I keep everything..
No not true..
I tossed all my Oolong teas.
And made donation bags....
I made some of Maries' raspberry jam bars..and cut out one in a heart for this post.
Hands down Jacques gives these 10 stars. And yes I have been making them since 2010♥
You know Marie..
She has this blog..and this blog..and this book:)♥
Who writes a book this voluminous and packed with real recipes that work?
This is not just another pretty face:)
I tried a little garland too..Oh if I had a little girl..here there and everywhere in her room. You can find the tutorial for the heart garland here~
But who knows maybe she would not like them.
I went to a store I love ..April Cornell...the girls clothes/dresses are out of this world..I mentioned that if I had a little girl..this would be the shop..and the salesclerk said..little girls and their moms are not into these these days..what a shame.
I think Britney changed the dress code years ago.
Althought I bet Amelia..Alicia Paulson's little girl would like them.
Any of you watch This Is Us?
I am happy my grandchildren are watching this show.
I am not looking forward to the Super Bowl episode..
but how I have loved this show since day one.
♥
My husband loves it too.
The acting is top notch..the feelings take hold of us..and we can get lost in quality tv..for a while~
It's been a funny weekend..cloudy..sunny..A little off..
Still organizing here;)
Have a nice afternoon~ And beginning of week..
All of the tea cozies are so lovely. Have a wonderful week ahead.
ReplyDeleteThanks Penny! Who knew they were so functional! The British have known all along:)♥
DeleteI love your photos. My mother had a lot of tea cosies, my favourite was a knitted one with tied bobbles at the top, it was tiny, a single tea pot size.
ReplyDeleteThanks Polly..oh my mom had none of these things..they would have been such luxuries for her.I think if I could have had her longer and could have....I would have spoiled her..:)♥
DeleteI'm not sure which tea cozy I'd pick. So cute and hard to make I bet. I have heard of This Is Us and guess I need to watch it. I am always searching for good shows to watch. I just finished Estates In The Country (I think that is what its called) about country houses in GB. Such a wonderful show and good way to see what the different parts of the country are like. I started my bread today and had to go back and look it up. 1/2 teaspoon of yeast I thought? It couldn't be, but it was. My dough wasn't sticky so I think I should have measured more accurately. It is rising though, so maybe, after all, I won't be the only person in the world that can't make it ;)
ReplyDeleteIt will work:) It's the latest one I posted? W/ a link to the author?
DeleteMy little cozy is easy..er..Kathleen's not so much..imagine knitting all those squares?♥
I think I would like that GB show..:) Susan Branch is going back to England..:) A Beatrix Potter picnic is included:)
I fall into a joyful state of bliss every time you post! I love all the cozies, yours and Kathleen's. They are -- well -- cozy! I wonder if Marie's recipe for Raspberry bars is the same as mine! I was going to make those for Valentine's day. Rick loves them!
ReplyDeleteYour banner is so pretty. I'm in the Valentine making mode. Getting ready to post a tutorial for an altered candy box, which I have filled with pink, red and white M&Ms. I must finish some valentine's, too! Oh, I'm so glad Valentine's is in February. Even though it's the shortest month, the weather makes it feel longest and it gives me something pretty and pink to anticipate!
I really appreciate your total joie de vivre Jeanie!
DeleteGo peek I put a link to the jam bars..I must admit I like them very much also.Oats..almonds..jam..so good!
Aren't cosies cute?I just got spellchecked here..I am going to find out how to spell them 😂I think you would crochet up a storm. We need more hours.Have to enjoy before backbreaking gardening☺️Looking forward to your tutorial!
Yes, STOP THE CAR - LOL! I love her work! You know I ♥ MC and anything red. Hello, Kitty :) The dishcloths are beautiful and match your soaps spot on! I've been wanting to make a heart swag! Good for you! I find crochet so relaxing. Challenging at times and I hate ripping up! I know another birthday coming soon :) A joyful upcoming month for us both (CA for me!). Oh, how I love This is Us. The acting is wonderful and heartfelt. I know we'll both be sobbing next week. They said to set your DVR for longer than the usual ending in case the Superbowl runs late. I set mine for a hour after the usual end time as we'll be gone that evening watching the game at a friend's home. Another tip to add to your Amazon watch list - The Big Sick. Academy Award nominee for screen play. Bon Soir, Mon Amie ♥
ReplyDeleteYes PS hear she comes!!🏌⛳️✈️A ball will be had for sure!
DeleteGreat tip re the extra running time!!!I just told J!Thanks!!I haven't learned how to PVR..oy or what remote does what..but we will be home!
I hope we get The Big Sick..will check it out..Prime US offers much more..than ours😕Bonsoir ma petite amie..hope to nod off early☺️
I did look last night..I HAD heard about it..in an article months ago..and then I saw him win..so I will tune in:)TY!
DeleteI have been enjoying This Is Us, and I think the upcoming one will be a tearjerker for sure. I was glad they gave us a heads up about the possible viewing time change due to the football game. I'll have to get the DVR all set up for it.
ReplyDeleteI love the cozies and your pretty garland. My grandson is almost 8 and I was just debating what kind of little Valentine item to get him. In past years he liked various stuffed animals, but this year as I was considering a little stuffed pug dog, I wondered if he's in a different stage now. It's going toward nerf guns and non Valentine-y stuff like that now.
Didn't it all fly by? ♥These little beaux of ours?Yes our 8 yr old still enjoys a Nerf gun..but he seems to have skipped the toy stage..We even talked about this the other day:) Sprorts makes their hearts skip a beat..they live dream eat sports lol..just like me;);)(Just kidding)..I love everyone in that show..Kudos to the writers..and waht great casting:) Seems many of us will be tuning in:)
DeleteThe checkered cozy is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI've heard of "This Is Us," and will have to see whether we can get it here.
I think you would enjoy it..and the checkered one is my favorite too:)In the reds:)
DeleteWhat a delightful post to wake up to :-)
ReplyDeleteLoving how "cozy" you are, and my mom made tons of the sweet washcloths. I love how they match your soaps from Provence.
We also watch This Is Us...Joe has yoga on Tuesday, gets home by 7:00 when we eat, and then it is time for the show :-)
Oh Joe..yoga? Debbie where did you find this man?:)Is he like Vito(Jack ) on This Is Us? He just sounds so nice!!I think you two were a match made in heaven. You must have so many dishcloths:)I wish I had known how when I spent almost 30 yrs doing open houses..it could have made the time more enjoyable when no one showed up;)
DeleteHave a great day.
Joe has done yoga for 20 years. He is so dedicated to it :-) My mom taught me how to make the dish cloths. I wish I had mastered it.
DeleteBoth of your cozies are beautiful! You are doing so well; and, how wonderful to have a friend to make you such wonderful gifts AND be your partner in the joys of creating from sticks and string. ;) THANK YOU for the link to that cute little garland! I love it. We really enjoy This is Us, too (reminds me a bit of Parenthood). Have a glorious week, Monique! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteYes Parenthood was another very favorite show of ours..:)Kathleen is a crafter that sells her handiwork..on top of a full time job.She sells on Varage sale and that is how I found her..she is a very youthvful looking mom..nana..busy busy..wasn't sure if she had time to make the MC one..but she did..she makes slippers..mermaid skirts..blankets..anything..♥And so honest and trustworthy..and she meets me halfway..maybe even more than halfway..we meet at Michael's:)Bonne semaine!!
DeleteWe need a tea pot cozy! They are so cute and we do love our tea. You never get too old for Valentine's treats - just saying. And my favorite Valentine's were from many years ago, exchanging cards in school, making a tissue paper covered shoe box to put them in, decorated with hearts. Such fun.
ReplyDeleteMe too! And you will see tea does stay warmer..for the amount of time you spend in your kitchen..creating..photographing..I think it would be a well deserved treat.I don't know why but little sweaters on teapots make me smile. They would you also:)
DeleteOoooh, Frosty February pink hearts against the winter evergreens, so pretty, so pretty! The knitting, so very cute. I have a few things with black and white squares, maybe will send you photos.
ReplyDeleteI love how you live your live in the mode of Celebration!
A book I think you'd like: The Gentle Art of Domesticity by Jane Brocket. Perhaps you know it...
I will look it up as I have looked into every book you have so kindly recommended to me Rita.My parents must be flabbergasted that I love all things domestic.
DeleteMy dad warned Jacques he needed une boussole to navigate my room..(compass)..never baked..never cooked..never sewed..
Yes do send photo..I know you are very buys..I can wait:)
The crochet tea cozies are fantastic, I love them all. I've not watched This is Us yet be we have the new series of Call the Midwife and I really enjoy this show.
ReplyDeleteAmalia
xo
Call the Midwife is a show jacques and I never miss:) WE love it and cry:) Those babies..the friendships..just all f it works for us:) I bet you make terrific tea cozies!
DeleteLovely, lovely post! I don't watch much television and had to be talked into This Is Us by a friend. I think it is one of the best shows I've seen on American television in decades!! Even though we lose Jack, we know he will still continue to appear.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
Jack♥Is the best husband ever..no wonder the children missed him all they adult lives..Jack..was my mom Bonnie:) That nice.
DeleteI am glad you like the show too!Thank you:)
Valentine's Day is one of my favorites too Monique and you've really got me in the mood! Love all your pretty cozies!
ReplyDeleteYou bake such pretty things at Valentine's..:)♥And all year long:)
DeleteJust Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteAll of it ❤️
Merci ma Parisienne!
DeleteI have always loved that picture of Julia and Paul. Your tea cozies are so cool. I think I will make Marie's raspberry tartlettes. They sound easy and good. Thanks for the inspiration Monique.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh they are good..in an 8 by 8 pan..or even in those cute tartelet pans w/ removeable bottoms..they are a keeper recie for sure..and w/ tea or coffee? Not rich you know..just delicious!
DeleteI think my teapot is my Barbie now..lol:)
What a lovely post Monique. I love all of your Valentine goodies . . . the sweetly addressed valentines for the boys, HELLO KITTY! (how sweet is that!) That beautiful black, white and red tea cosy. Very, very ME! I need to find a pattern, because I have Tea Cosy Envy now! lol I think the red one you made is also gorgeous, but you are right red is really hard to photograph as is chocolate I find. Anything tomatoey or chocolatey are so difficult! So is beef I find! You really need something else with it to help set it off. That's probably whey lots of people use icing sugar to dust. I love that Valentine from Julia and her husband. I had not seen that before! What a true character she was. I haven't made my Raspberry bars in a long time. Todd really loves them. I need to make them again soon, maybe for Valentines day. Your words about me are always so very kind. I am not sure I deserve them, but I do so appreciate them. You are a treasure. I value our friendship. You know I have only ever met really kind and lovely people on line. People I value very much, of which you are one of the most special to me. xoxo
ReplyDeletePS - You are inspiring me to want to do something Valentiny! Your baby heart are adorable!
Marie..my online friends have been nothing short of wonderful too..I love the camaraderie..I always have.I love visiting..I love visits..I love being inspired..seeing the wold from here..tasting ..learning:)
DeleteSeeing what thrills people..families..cute kids..so many nice people:)
Marie..One pattern..I can give you..for one of the coxies Kathleen had to buy a pattern..so she explained that basically I bought it so she gave it to me.I am going to scan and send to you..
I have no idea how she manages those checks..it's almost double knit..? Hard to explain..Anyway she' is wonderful and super busy. And how honest is that? Giving me the pattern?
Marie..I think my tea pots are Barbies now and will dress them;)
Thanks for helping to give that love too..CROCHET!
Have a great rest of the day!
Beautiful Mon...everything red is inviting!❤️
ReplyDeleteMarie..you and Susan LOVE red..I do too:) It's happy..remember I had a red sink 20 rs ago?:)
DeleteAnd your plates? You love ed bracelets..red watches..:)Etc!
What a lovely post, dear Nana! I love the black, red and white tea cosy!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week.
Thank you Nina!
DeleteI am in love with this post (as I am with your entire blog)! There are so many cute ideas here, thoughtful reminisces, and you are killing me with that tea cozy! You must have a sphere-shaped teapot, because it fits this cozy beautifully. All of the teapots I have are sort of oddly shaped, and I'm thinking one of these darling, got-to-have-one tea cozies wouldn't work with any of mine. Sigh. I love the way you cut out your raspberry bar with a heart-shaped cookie cutter. I just treated myself to a set of these, have in mind chocolate cherry bars for Valentine's Day, and now I'm going to cut them out in heart shapes. Love this post!
ReplyDeleteYou need a regular plain white or any color really teapot..I linked to the humble pattern I used a few posts ago..and you can see the teapot she used..Let me Google and come back:)Thank you☺️
DeleteRed is very difficult to photograph...that is why I never have red flowers....☺️
ReplyDeleteRegardless....your photos are beautiful as always...love the cosies....❣
Still snowing here...enjoy your evening....
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Take care Linda! When my dad was sick my mom would make him a mustard plaster for his chest.I never forgot that and made one for Jacques when we were first married promising him he would get well..I burnt his chest😢I love Vick's Vaporub.
DeleteGreg likes Vicks....me, not so much....I am off to bed....😴
DeleteHope today is better.!
DeleteWhat a darling cozy from your friend - and yours is cute too! Yes, red is appallingly difficult to photograph. :-)
ReplyDeleteI have to work on that:) Thank you!
DeleteThose tea cozys are so darling. I give you so much credit for yours. Never give up is wonderful! I absolutely love that black and white checked
ReplyDeletetea cozy. It is perfect for MKC collectors. Love your lovely photos. The wash cloths are great. My mom made quite a few. She is very talented.
We had a great weekend together. of course I spoiled her by waiting on her hand and foot.
You are living a dream for me..waiting on my mom hand and foot..to think of all the years she waited on me..and I really never got the chance..those teen years..not a rebel was I..but school..work..etc..very little time to just stay home and chat with her.You are an amazing daughter Linda.I love that.I bet she could make you a MKC tea cozy:)
DeleteBeautiful tea cozies and very lovely Valentine cards....lucky boys...:) xo
ReplyDeleteX I hope you have a nice one..♥
DeleteMonique, my mom is visiting for a few days. I showed her the black and white tea cozy. She wants to know about the pattern. Does Kathleen have a blog? Thanks in advance.
