Things are looking up..

I know Spring is coming when I can pick humble bouquets..  and take photos of flowers etc..and bake less..and read less..

I have let so many Libby books go..only to reserve them and delay them again.

But here.. Flowers unfold at the speed of light..before I know it..September is here..then October.

The beds are still very empty as a lot of perennials need warmth.

We have had chill and rain..

It is still coming though:)

Ferns unfurling..like little fists emerging ..

Hellebores are stunning.I have a lot of burnt leaves but eventually they look good and my hellebores become yellow/creamy..

Lilacs..white ..

Trilliums ..we are not to pick them They should stay in their natural habitat..so I go in the Secret Garden..trip over branches..get very low to the ground and clic clic clic..

I sowed a few radishes..UP:) Some Shirley Grey Poppies..UP..Borage has reseeded not tons..but you don't need tons.:)

Finally enjoying season 3 of Ted Lasso..it was slow for me compared to season 1 and 2..  but by episode 6 I was back into all the smiles and feels..

Watching The Last Thing He Told me..I had read the book..I heard Julia Roberts was wanted for the role..She was not available..Jennifer Gardner kept asking for it and got it.She is one of my FAVORITE stars..for some reason.. I keep seeing Julia in the role..Once you hear something ..you can't unhear:)

Both J and Ia agree we NEVER tire of Call The Midwife.NEVER.

We both love it.

Quality..talent..storylines..ALL OF IT.

Have a great weekend..May all your flowers go forth and prosper.

  4. Thank goodness for new life in the gardens! It seems like we need it this season, more than ever. I'm truly happy to hear that your prized plants and shrubs are springing back to life. It really is like balm for the soul. I love your poster that says we go into the garden, lose our minds, and find our souls. Amen. We really do need more warmth and sunshine where we live. My husband and I took a walk yesterday, and couldn't believe how yellow the field corn is. It will come, though. I've been telling myself, "cut back on outside work...you're nearly 70...it hurts your back when you garden too much..." Well, I am so doggone sick of store-bought strawberries (they taste like red cardboard) that I am contemplating starting a new bed at our little cottage. I'll have to get hubby on board, though. The truth is, our gardens really do sustain our bodies and souls. Enjoy the time you spend in yours, Monique. All your dedication and hard work show in your plants.

  8. The image in my mind of you in the woods getting the perfect shot of a trillium, just for us makes my heart sing. You are the best! It's a gorgeous day here. Crisp, cool, yet sunny. Sadie and headed out into the garden early. Still cutting out the dead leaves of winter. The holly fern are so low to the ground, it makes it difficult. But it has to be done to look neat and tidy. Have a lovely Sunday!

  9. We watched tonight's "Call the Midwife" last night on our PBS streaming (they show the episodes early) and we knew we couldn't watch at the regular time. Oh my! The writing is SO good. How exciting to see your garden happening -- I know how much you love it. And the vase is so pretty! (Well, both vases!) I'm impressed you already have a bit of a harvest already. Aren't fiddlehead ferns beautiful? My favorites!

  11. Light and bright and colorful and so energizing this still-cold morning!! We have GREEN, and the yellows of a billion dandelions were poufed into glitter by the phalanx of lawnmowers out for their Spring debut in the neighborhood yesterday.

I love all this, but if you'd not said a word, not snapped a single other frame, those little ferny-fists would have been enough. I'll be smiling all day at those babies unfurling their wonder to the sun.

  13. It is such a thrill to pick those first simple bouquets of the flowers that usually don't like sitting in vases :) I love those vases with personality! The last book I read I loved - last month. The Henna Artist. I was probably the last one in the world to read it. There won't be any reading until the garden is tilled and planted. Call the Midwife, absolutely true on all counts! I'll have to renew AppleTV to watch Ted Lasso and Last Thing.... I love Jennifer Garner too. So unpretentious. Great IG account too with the Pretend Cooking Show - LOL. I'd love to come into your porch. ♥

Nor Fatal Attraction. The original was just too good and I saw it in a cinema.
This season..3 of Ted Lasso.. I only started loving it as much as season one and two by epi 6.And now I don't want it to end.
I will see if I read The Henna Artist ..sometimes I forget the books I have read.
Lately..my Libby bookshelf has books I have been waiting for..and they go back unread:(Welcome home Pea xox
