This year wet and wild:(Dismal.
And chilly.
With a touch of baking interspersed.
In French we have a saying..:"Les années se suivent mais ne se ressemblent pas".
Years follow but do not look alike.
So true.

DeleteNot sure why your sweet comments did not get published.Thank you so much:)
DeleteA beautiful garden Monique. So fun to stroll around and see what is blooming. Happy gardening.
ReplyDeleteYour gardens are a source of envy:)TY though:)
DeleteYour garden is 2-3 months behind mine in Virginia. It’s a treat to see the same flowers blooming again. Your photos are lovely and I look forward to seeing them. I’m not sure how you stay so thin with all the delicious foods you make! Lucky you.
ReplyDeleteHi! I am not a fan of desserts:) So sometimes I have a bite to make sure I am not poisoning anyone..but truly very easy for me to walk away;) This cake was 5 inches at most..It lasted my 150 lb thin fit husband one week.Everything in moderation has always been key for him:)I love gardening!
DeleteEven so, your flowers and trees are amazing. (I just fumbled my laptop and believe I sent the first half of my comments--doggone it!). Is that a carrot cake? It sure does look delicious and nearly too pretty to eat. Monique, keep the faith. One of these days summer will arrive (anyway, that's what I keep telling myself and my grand daughters). Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteLol Ive done that! Yes a mini carrot cake..One of the first recipes I saved from my husband's sister..I was 20 and had never had carrot cake..His whole family loved it..I've been making it for 51 yrs:). I made half the recipe and it worked perfectly for this wee ting:) Have a great weekend..Doing a sun dance..no sight of it all week.It left town:(

DeleteSeeing this reminds me that I need to pick some of my lily of the valley while they are still in bloom. It has been to rainy to get out and do it but I can today! That cake is gorgeous and so is every bloom. But I'm really loving that wonderful pink lantern. I think I need to add lanterns to my life and must find one like that. I can tell you have truly entered the seasons of being in your element!
ReplyDeleteIt's paper you have to bring it in:( I bought it in Chinatown many yrs ago.I bought a few..reminded me of the Cape lol I had them in our porch one night with candles:( Not a good idea..All was good but..now there are battery ones;)
DeleteFrom that shiny flaunt of wooden spoons in the tall crock, on to the subdued twilight iris and what I hope are Forget-me-Nots---I cannot recognize them, nor lilacs (graciously supplied as well in their innocent profusion, and which I also could not pronounce, for no one in my Southern milieu had any of either. And so I dreamt of sort of vertical wisteria thinking of lilacs, and relied long on the Hepburn-era March girls for their names, adopting Lye-Locks for several years til I was corrected). And those PINK PomPoms that you could sip from the air, like the sophisticated bouquet of a Bride in blue shoes---my favorites---do they bear fruit?
ReplyDeleteOn and on on that tour of your garden, the iris repeated on that charming door, and all the greens and colors to be feasted upon---and this is just the twinkle of the first moments. And the little PITCHERS---familiar small faces from many a bayou of my youth---wee sweet creatures more than flora, to me, with their wiles and secret appetites. What a lovely tour of your Jardin this chilly morning---bright patches of sun just now as I strolled the back lawn for Friday Prayers glinted happily as I was giving thanks for the bright lagniappe of yesterday, when my phone rang at ten: "Hi, ganjin!! I'm through with my last exam! Want to go to lunch?"
And we did---all four of us driving up to Panera like via Royal Coach, those three used-to-be Princesses as my retinue and my fortune and treat all in one. We discussed grades, books, their impending Band Trip to Europe, and another for next St. Patrick's Day, as well as coming camp and work and travel. They got up for more of those loaded coffees ("Are you SURE?? They cost a lot," to my proffer). I just sat there, seventeen as big as you please, chiming in and soaking it all up. I have no flowers in my garden---the three clumps of inherited tulips, here when we moved in in 1997, are long shriveled and cut, and the maybes of daffodils have faded as well, but OH, I'm surrounded by the most beautiful sweet blossoms there are. As are you, Nana and friend---splendidly and rightfully so.
My gardens keep me busy when the weather cooperates:) I so enjoy admiring every beautiful thing and getting angry at every weed;) I have been to Panera with my girls in the US and we like it:)You can grow many things I cannot..and many things are hardy for you not me:) I am dragging things in and out of the garage until we hit warmer temps and sunshine.A stretch of rain and chill this long here is in effect quite unusual. It's a shame.I feel summer will be so short.Hope to get may dahlias transplanted etc..everything is shivering:( Me included. As always love your words.Artistry!
DeleteYour photos are really beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing this lovely walk! I am so happy to have found you again! We used to follow each other's blogs when I was at Linda's Peaceful Place. I had no computer for more than 7 years and due to the amount of time that had passed, I lost access to my old blog. I have missed you!
ReplyDeleteI started a new blog at the end of March, Linda's Relaxing Lair (the link to my blog is in my profile).
I wanted you to know that I am thinking of you, that I have started blogging again and where you can find me now.
Take good care of yourself and warm greetings from Montreal, Canada.
Linda..I remember you..So many things have changed..I hope you are well and I will pop by:)
DeleteSuch a beautiful walk in the garden, Monique! I love the Chinese Lantern and it's so perfect with your flowering tree. I picked two huge bouquets of LOTV this morning to share with my daughter. They have lingered longer due to the rainy and chilly weather we have been having. I just love this fleeting time of year. ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteI just had two to three hrs of sun.I was out there..but then we do too much:( Rain started again so I came in..Tomorrow should be nicer..Thank you.Love having Susan in my garden;)
DeleteI know your garden is filled with friends! ♥♥♥
