April brought a ton of snow..

Funny how in April..it has lost its charm:)

We were so encouraged by the mild weather with literally no snow.. we jumped the gun..

My grandson and son-in-law came and changed our tires..It is a law here..Summer/Winter tires..

Jacques took out the summer furniture..(we can't do outdoor furniture like in California lol..)The BBQ..

And then the skies opened up..

I made a great quiche for lunch the tire changing day and these amazing cookies..I am not sure what her policy is on sharing her recipes since she published her book..

You can Google I am certain.

Mel Asseraf's best chocolate chip cookie..This girl had a pastry shop in Paris..was a winner on baking shows..I find it great to follow her on TikTok..Definitely not a waste of time.

If you have not watched The New look on Apple Tv..the series..I can recommend it.:)

Juliette Binoche,Ben Mendelsohn,Maisie Williams,John Malkovitich.

Riveting.

Although Coco Chanel is  a terrible woman in this series.

Paris figures at the top of course..Switzerland and a spot  south near Normandy..

Anyway we enjoyed it. The portrayal of Coco Chanel is unflattering but well acted.

The Guardian gives it 2 stars..Thank goodness I could not care less.

The audience gives it 4.5 stars

The Independent 4 stars.

Should you be going to Paris..

I highly recommend Véronique's Cooking classes.

Un rêve.

If I may recommend something else..

The Little Liar..the book on my sidebar..

Now that should be a movie.

I rarely give 5 stars.

I did:)

In fact I gave Spare 2 stars.

You cannot change mother nature but you can make it more cozy:)

Numi Blooming tea..always a treat:) Indoor gardening:)

Ok ..one last recommendation..I mean we have snow here lol so series are still de rigueur..at night :)

Only watched one ,yet..I think Mikey likes it:)Andrew Scott (Fleabag amongst others) is so good.

There you have my little life in QC when it's still winter in a way on our heels.

  1. Oh Noooo
I hope that snow is short lived.
How frustrating to have been teased by a mild March.
In the mean time spring is erupting here quite nicely. I've been cutting daffodils to bring in for over 2 weeks now.
I know you will catch up soon.

  2. As I drink my coffee, I'm wearing sweats, wool socks and looking outside at the ice crystals that are coating every single surface. It is 27 degrees where I live. It will be dicey for all the plants that had started budding. Oh well. I'll just keep repeating, "All will be well.....all will be well." Mother Nature likes to keep us guessing. However, the excitement is building as people from all over the world gather to watch Monday's eclipse. Guess who lives in the path of totality??? Yes! Our little community is welcoming many, many guests to watch the event. My husband and I ran errands yesterday so we can stay home for the next few days. It is exciting!
I found the chocolate chip cookie recipe and it does look great. I might need to whip up a batch later. I didn't see vanilla listed, so I might add some. Absolutely love "The New Look" painting.
Let's hope that next week will bring warmer temps. In the meantime, we can cook, bake and watch our shows.
    Take care, Monique!

Is it just not like a very cloudy day?I know everyone will get such pleasure.. we may not even notice if we don't think about it..Im telling you we may be weird:) All will be well..how many times I say that? let me count the ways.:):):Exactly..cook ..bake..watch our shows..repeat:) Walk.. so grateful for legs..not movie star ones mind you but they work well:)

  3. Awww, so sorry you had loads of snow. How frustrating to get ready for spring, summer, and then you get a snow storm. Thank you for sharing about the chocolate chip cookies. I love a good one. The shows sound delightful. I adore your new art, fabulous!

  4. Monique, Help!! I'm stirring up the chocolate chip cookies and Mel said to add 2T of cornstarch and 1T baking soda. Is that right? Just wondered if it should be teaspoons instead of tablespoons. Thanks!!!!

  5. Oh woe! Snow! You're right -- in April it gets very old. I want to read the Little Liar. I might have to spring for Apple or Netflix. I don't have time to watch everything I record or that comes on as it is! Cookies and Quiche. Now THAT is a perfect lunch any day but especially on a tire-changing day! Let's hope the weekend is a good one -- and that it melts soon!

  9. Snow, snow, go away! LOL. We had some last week also but then it rain the same afternoon and it was gone! Now beautiful today and hope coming your way! The eclipse wasn't too much of a spectacle here. It got a little eeriely darker but not much, really. The birds were still flying about and chirping :) Those cookies look fabulous! I found her IG account and on it she has about 4 different versions of the cookie recipe. Some have varying amounts of sugars, one has baking powder, some have baking soda, some have dark and milk chocolate, some recommend Ghirardelli. They all say My Viral Recipe - LOL. Does the recipe you found have the mixture of white and dark chocolate? I haven't found that one yet. I read The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom a long while ago and it was good. I will look for this latest one! I think I'd like Ripley too! Love your recos and your so chic painting of Miss Coco. ♥♥♥

    1. Yes Tuesdays with Morrie and the Five People you Meet in Heaven..etc..But this one:) Heartsrings.World war 2..you know la suite.:( They are great and honestly the differences in the recipes..I cannot believe it..In the original one I saw months ago following her..the add ins were 240 Grams of what you want.I will take a pic of my recipe and send to you..Do you have a scale? Mine is in grams..I have seen the conversions and it's just not the same. She is a French baker and swears by scales..let me know if you have one;)So some people like one of my daughters and her son..eclipse die hards..as are sooooo many.As for me ...No interest.Weirded out a bit..J acknowledges the brilliance of those who determined the date time places etc..but no interest in watching..It got extremely dark here.. On an app M sent me apparently my address witnessed total eclipse.I see people I know posting pics..I never looked lol.Ripley is dark..black and white but Italy cinematography I love..Beautiful weather here at long last..love.

  13. I enjoyed reading about your little life in QC when it's still winter. I've probably told you 100 times that our camp gets the same weather, and it snowed there the week before the total solar eclipse. We went to camp from Saturday through Monday evening, and the daffodils have just started to poke their little heads through the soil. Here at home, our daffs have been in full bloom for a few weeks. I'm playing weather bingo for the month of April, and can add an earthquake and eclipse to the card.

  15. Oh my word, all that snow, and I thought our weather (UK) was bad! Those cookies look delicious. Goodreads give 'The Little Liar' 4.62 but I'm sure I could endure it, it sounds so very sad. I have put it on my list though. I hope you get better weather soon :-)

    1. That was what we sometimes get at the tail end..we are fine now:) Grass is growing ..gardens pushing through the soil..rain..I love books of that period..and this one really touched me..That's an excellent rating at Goodreads.I am so tough on my ratings..Poor authors.I did give that one a 5.
