Paris Sketch Letters~

When our eldest daughter married.. in 2007  ..they honeymooned in Paris..

She sent me emails..that I still have..I loved rereading them again for this post and looking through the photos they took.
The letters are brimmimng with Paris Joy..not Joy de Patou..just joy at everything they were seeing and experiencing..the sights the sounds..the food..everything..
They are on my computer as M's letters from Paris..
The above 2 photos are from the photos they gave us..

I do love all things French..did all my schooling in French except college and 4 months at McGill..majoring in French..:)
The girls did all their primary and secondary in French..college in English..one..university in English ..the other in French..
Mylène..above is a French teacher ..kindergarten..they have Noah:)

One day we think we would like to go to Paris also..we have been to Provence..be still my ♥..
While in Provence I kept a journal with small paintings and stubs from different places ..and words of course.
I love that little journal..it is not at all nice like all the journals I see and love now from fellow bloggers..nonetheless..it's a dear souvenir for me..and I would not hesitate to do another:)

I think that is one of the reasons I could not resist..

this..:)

This is one of  Carol G's letters from Paris!~
Imagine..Etsy notified me just a few days prior..that my letter had been sent..I never expected it in my box in such short short short time..
It is thrilling to get a very very French envelope..Par Avion..Priorité..with your name on it:)

and her art in it..and her little souvenirs for us♥
I love little envelopes in books..journals..this one had a mini in a maxi:)
My art was Parapluies..Monet  perfume cards..(The real little bottles are mine..I just thought they went so well with her treasure envelope..

I had watched parts of a Wayne Dyer special on TV while on the treadmill..and he was talking about the need to have a BURNING DESIRE..to do what you want to do..
be it writing..or art..that is must be your passion and that you are ready to focus on that ..
well I think Carol is a perfect example of following her passion.. her dream

Leaving NYC to live in Paris and paint her dreams..
We all benefit from her travel to Paris..we get to see the places she sees..meet the people she meets..and admire her art..not to mention Bear:)
The letters are available at her Etsy shop..click on the link  to the right of her blog:)

I love them.

In the interim..until I get to Paris..if I do..

I will stick to creating my own little Paris treats at La Table De Nana:)

Callebaut white chocolate Eiffel towers..To surround a cake maybe?

Qui Sait?
Bon Weekend!

  1. Oh, Monique, the white Eiffel Towers. What a gorgeous photo of them and I do hope to see something you've decorated with them. I love that your daughter got to experience Paris on her honeymoon. And that Noah... he reminds me of his dad. Love that you took the time to journal. I'm usually too tired or frazzled. You are pretty amazing.

  2. That's a great B&W pic of the Eiffel Tower! France is great, esp. Paris, even though they would not allow us to go up the Eiffel Tower due to pickpockets, etc. I have no idea where you live, but always kind of thought you lived there! Hope you get to visit!

  5. I love those snippets of french things on your blog, Monique! One of our daughters was a college French major, and she spent three weeks volunteering at a center for the physically handicapped in the Normandy region (Caen, I think) before her senior college year. I would love to go, too, though being realistic, will probably not ever have that opportunity. My best to you for your dreams to materialize!

  6. I love everything French too. I studied French in high school and again in college and we finally made it there forty years later. Not to Paris, but to Provence, which we dearly love. When we go again, you've inspired me to make a journal like yours.

Your white Eiffell Towers are adorable and so are your pretty envelopes and books. How fabulous that your daughter spent her honeymoon in Paris. She is very beautiful.

  12. I am so glad that you wrote this blog post. I have been stalking Carol's letters on Etsy, but now I think I am just going to have to order one. I have been a fan of her work forever, it seems, by way of Flickr. To hold one of her pieces of art in my hand will be thrilling. And chocolate Eiffel Towers?! Where do I get those? (By the way, I am as passionate about cookie stamps as you are. My Starbucks Moon Cake mold is on the way, thanks to you!)

  13. Pattie what a nice comment all around..
A keepsake for certain the Carol envelope:) It will be kept in my art room as inspiration!
I bought the plastic Eiffel Tower mold from Amazon.com..very reasonably priced.. while I was in the US at one point last year..foolproof ..( Ile that)you simply pour your melted chocolate..tap tap for bubbles..and refrigerate..Unmold and you have perfect towers..

  20. How perfectly wonderful. I loved the picture of the honeymooners, and the journal bits and well, just everything! You always delight my soul. I was to Paris as a four year old but have absolutely no recollection that is worth much of anything. I was to Charles De Gaulle airport about12 years ago, again not really Paris. I would love to go and spent a week or so just exploring, although on the telly the other day they were saying that Young People are leaving Paris to study and work elsewhere as it is not really Paris anymore, but just a tourist spot. I am sure as a visitor though it would always be Paris to us! Love you!xxoo

  22. Hello, Nana. I have just arrived at your site via Carol @ Paris Breakfasts! Your white chocolate Eiffel Towers are to DIE FOR! My daughter is a french teacher and I am a francophile like many of you and your commenters, today! When I went to search on Amazon for the molds, they were not very tall - less than 4 inches. Did you manage to buy one that is taller - say closer to 7"? On a much earlier blog post I have fallen in love with the cookie stamps for shortbread cookies -- but I decided to forego the high postage costs from Germany and wait until something similar arrives in the U.S. Perhaps the Starbucks mold will satisfy me!

I look forward to reading more and seeing more on your blogposts in the future! Merci bien!

  23. Hi Mary..the cookies with letters and numbers..I found an Ebay Knock off ..and it seems just fine..you basically need the bar and the letters..put the name of what you want..like Mary..but backwards..
Do an Ebay search : Number Letter Alphabet Cookie Stamp Cutter..ap $4.00 and free shipping.. you will need your own cookie cutter..or get a set that comes with..The shipping is free to Canada.I am certain to the US also...just type In your search crtieria it must be BUY NOW and Free Shipping..out of all the little things I have ordered ..only one has not arrived..I m still expecting 2 things but only one has not arrived yet.
My Eiffel towers measure 4 1/2 inches.. 3 to a mold..actually a lollipop mold so there is room to insert a stick..
    Our daughters both teach French:)
    Thank you!

I do hope you make the trip to Paris one day soon. I know how much you would love every minute of your time there. Your little Eiffel Towers would be beautiful on a cake.
