Is there a more beautiful tulip than the Parrot Tulip?
I thinkI love them even more than my Angéliques.
A dear friend sent us the most beautiful bouquet of assorted Spring flowers..imcluding these..I had to give them a spot of their own.
Long looong stemmed huge pink roses..Irises..Pussy Willows..Gerberas..etc..
I could have kissed the flower delivery gentleman.
It made our Easter even more special♥
I must get bulbs this fall and plant more..
They are much too gorgeous to forget.
I love these words from Claude Monet~
I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers~
Our friend is an artist a wonderful artist..She used to inspire me when I would ring her doorbell and her apron had paint splashes all over it..
Music gently playing..
almost always fresh flowers in her foyer.
Never pretentiously arranged..always so natural..
like her
We are able to now work in the gardens.. picking up all the leaves from the beds I was sure and am always sure we pick up every fall.
I think our gardens grow leaves...during winter.
Still a few to go..and with the wind howling..
It seems the leaves are laughing at us by coming right back..
Thank goodness I know that at one point..even their relentless nature..will be abated!
And FLOWERS will GROW!
Grateful..always..for a garden.
Wowwww they are so beautiful.......love Ria...xxx !!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous tulips, love the colors in them and the vase! The delivery man rang my doorbell with a bouquet of yellow tulips, iris and lilies, beautiful and I could've kissed him too, spring! Pussy willows, Gerberas and on and on. Our forsythia just bloomed, and grass is greening! Woo hoo! Enjoy your flowers!
ReplyDeleteThe floral delivery people don't know how much they are loved..it's very rare..that one comes here..and if he does..it is usually from that friend:)
DeleteThe vase was my moms and weighs a ton..so I top off with fresh water instead of emptying..
It's something I like to look at because of her..and i don't think she ever got bouquets.:(
A hydrangea at Easter..and that's about it..
If I had had her all these yrs..she would have had bouquets..
You only seem to find these things out later...
parrot tulips are so pretty, i love the soft colors and that book looks so pretty too, i love old books. The Monet quote has always been a favorite of mine. So glad to hear that you've been out in the garden and soon you will be surrounded by flowers :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you Monique. The most beautiful if there is such a thing with flowers. I am going to plant some this fall too. My only problem is deer. I had to switch to daffodils since they don't eat those, but can possibly hide some parrot tulips somewhere. Last time in Paris, there was a flower shop window with green and white parrot tulips, but I think yours has them beat.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful tulips. My mother's garden was always filled with many different kinds of tulips, including these. I'm glad to hear the weather is good enough for you to be in the garden. I think our garden grows leaves during the winter too.
ReplyDeleteSam
They are magnificent!
ReplyDeleteWe should all plant some this fall and see how we do next Spring?
God willing we find bulbs!
That is a good reminder to put these on my calendar to plant in fall also, Monique! They are beautiful! I actually have a few already planted but the deer keep eating them before I can enjoy looking at them :( I need to plant some inside the fenced area!
ReplyDeleteSusan....I bought Dahlia bulbs today....at Costco..I am going to plant them..where no earwigs or slugs survive!
DeleteFull sunshine..
We have so many roadblocks for our short season..deer..like you..earwigs..rose chafers.. beetles..oy those lilybeetles..
slugs..squirrels..rabbits..
Perter Rabbit is adorable..my rabbits are destructive:(
Like Bambi.. vs your deer..
We are relentless and optimists as gardeners aren't we?:)
They are absolutely gorgeous! so delicate - I love tulips as they signal Spring but they always remind me of St James Park in London - which I used to walk through to get to work!

I can see how very inspired you are by beautiful flowers & gardens.. I never saw the Parrot Tulip. I like its delicate quality & subtle color changes (perfect for watercolors...) "Flowers will grow!" (Windy & cool here today! At one point I saw a brown leaf carried by the wind & it seemed like fall...)
ReplyDeleteParot tulips are so pretty. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a beautiful selection of flowers your friend sent you for Easter. How thoughtful. The parrot tulip draped over the book so looks pretty.
ReplyDeleteNow I know what ate the parrot tulips I planted in Autumn. I'd planted some white ones in a dark corner to make a splash of light. saw the tips shoot up and waited & waited but no blooms. I haven't seen the deer near the house for a long time, but saying I did have a baby Bambi lying on the door mat one time. :)
I had no idea what a parrot tulip looked like. They are very pretty.....soon you will have green popping out on everything!
ReplyDeleteIf I am lucky, I may have some tulips bloom this year. I planted 25 and only see five popping up. Perhaps I will join you and plant some parrot tulips this fall. They are so lovely.
ReplyDeleteMagnificent flowers! The Monet quote, so true.
ReplyDeleteThey are breathtakingly beautiful! I hope you have a lovely weekend. Oh, and my blog has moved to a new home - I hope you'll follow me there.
ReplyDeleteThe parrots are stunning! I always am in awe of flowers, their shapes and colors and fragrances. I think they are one of God's great gifts!
ReplyDeleteOne of His many miracles~
DeleteOh my, what glorious and breathtaking flowers!! The Monet quote, profound~
ReplyDeleteGlad you are enjoying them Monique. I planted tulip two years ago, apricot beauty, but they were not them when they bloomed. They were nipped by some critter already so even if they were going to bloom, I won't be reminded that they are not my apricot beauty. I do remember you love Angelique tulips. These are so pretty too. Have you read Tosha Tudor's garden book? So many pretty flower arrangements.
ReplyDeleteI have not read her garden book..I love her though so I should~Thank you for the reminder .
DeleteWhat a lovely post and photos. I agree the parrot tulips are so pretty.
DeleteI can imagine how eager you are to get back into your garden and start working the flower beds. I agree that Parrot Tulips are the most beautiful of all.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, the tulips are beautiful. We have had the same howling winds and the leaves blow right back in my garden as fast as I try to clear the sprouting lilies.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, these tulips are gorgeous! Mother nature has provided us with the most beautiful flowers and shrubs. I love this time of year.
ReplyDeleteWOW !!!
ReplyDeleteSimply gorgeous M
You have outdone yourself if that's possible
They are done now..
ReplyDeleteOh why are they so fleeting?
Too pretty I guess:-)
They are so beautiful...one of my favorites...
ReplyDeleteI love your Mama's vase...such a beautiful image.
Spring is late here this year...
Bisous xo
