The gardens are doing well..the rose chafers are on their last two legs..they lived way too long IMHO..but at least the tea roses etc..will not be harmed by them.
I had a sweet visitor on my magnolia.. I swear he was looking at me:)His eyes moved:)
Love Bright Lights Swiss Chard....perennial spinach (will only know next year if it is..but it was for Frédérick}...the little purple peppers are so cute♥hope they grow up though..
Iceberg rose..so hardy here..a housewarming gift when we moved here ...well ,I guess almost 15 years ago..
The herbs are doing well and I have hellebore seeds there now too:)..hoping to transplant next Spring..
Noah turned 7 July 4th and his mom gave him a Harry Potter party..there is really nothing she did not think of..
he is a very lucky little boy~ all 4 alphabet boys are very lucky..
I don't remember my youth like that at all..I only remember a Pin the Tail on the Donkey in a long narrow hallway off the kitchen..in someone's home..or was it mine?
The cousins and a friend slept over...Alain had a fire out back..the children had so much fun..and the weather cooperated~we got to chat with their neighbors and friends and Alain's parents..and Grizz..
always nice to catch up and watch the Littles grow...
We brought the boys to the beach the first day of holiday..and I made them chocolate chip muffins..handy to pack and they liked them a lot..so I am recommending them to you~
I found them here..
La Recette~
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup melted butter,cooled
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large room temp eggs
1 cup milk or buttermilk(I used buttermilk)
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups choco chips..I use milk choco
Preheat oven to 425
Spray a 12 cup muffin tin
In a large bowl toss together the flour baking powder ,baking soda, saltand chocolate chips.Set aside.
In a medium bowl whisk together eggs, butter ,milk, sugar and vanilla.
Slowly add to dry ings and GENTLY fold until just combined.
Fill muffin cavities and bake at 425F for 5 minutes..reduce heat to 375 and bake for another 13-15 minutes.
Let cool 5-10minutes and enjoy warm..
I like ..no, I loved..how these puffed up..and tasted great even the next day~
I think they could be a good base for many types of muffins..
I like a muffin that gets a nice dome♥
If you need a dose of happy..

Nope...never had these growing up;)
You know I love Noah ! He is so cute:)
ReplyDeleteAnd the muffins look pretty!!
xo
He is such a character Gloria:) It wasn't a dress up party ,but Lily Mae came as Hernione..so he put on his costume..I thought they looked adorable too..the kids played games..pinata.. lots of food..BBQ..and swam..had a ball:)
DeleteI always enjoy all the gorgeous views at your blog post. Your muffin tin and spatula look so pretty and special!
ReplyDeleteI had been liking the anthro tins..that are beautiful but very pricey for this stage of my life..while in Vermont we stopped at a Christmas Tree Shop..and not even in the right dept sat this lone muffin pan....at a fraction of the cost.
DeleteSo..it came over the border w/ us as even Jacques commented on it;)
Thanks Zoe.
What a de "light" ful post from beginning to end. First of all Happy Birthday Noah! I just know he had a fabulous time. How happy is that photo of him with his friend. So sweet. Love, LOVE your garden photos. Always have done and that muffin tin is just adorable. So very pretty! I have never seen anything like it, or the pretty blue pie bird . . . Grizz. Flowers. The good news on your roses and the end of the infestation. So much to love here. The light block. Magnificent. I never had parties like that or toys like that either when I was a child. The children of today are so blessed, but then again, so were we for our time. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks Marie:)
DeleteI know..our simple lives were good lives too..so different though..dads come to the childrens parties now..when I was growing up..the party or 2 I remember..not really parties..the few children were dropped off..
when my girls were growing up..many of the moms stayed as we were friends also..now it seems the whole family comes:)
That Grizzly..is the scene stealer now.
Un joli moment, encore une fois !

Une jolie fin de semaine au QC..nous en profitons..tu connais notre hiver;)

The garden looks so full. Your clematis, especially Hagley, look wonderful. Mine are now starting to wane so I am going to cut back and hope for a second round of flowers later in the season. Your iceberg rose is pretty. I tried that one year and it must have been grafted, the following year it was blooming red! Your daughter did a nice job with Noah's birthday celebration. I bet the crowd loved those muffins and no pulling the mixer out, I have to try them. Have a fun week!
ReplyDeleteHi Terry if it's the white one..it is Huldine.. she grows up the back garage wall mixed with others..but part topples into the large Baptisia..so that's why the leaves are not clematis leaves:) She weaves through the bush..
DeleteThe muffins are perfect muffins..thank goodness for all these talented bloggers that share their creations..~
The muffins, gardens, photos, the fantastic castle and Noah - what a wonderful post! Your photos are an inspiration and of course a wonderful Harry Potter birthday party would be a great thing too! Happy birthday Noah!
ReplyDeleteHi Tricia..I always find YOUR photos ..photos to learn from..truly!
DeleteI adore that muffin tin!! and of course the muffins too. I wish you could come and bless my garden, I just don't have the eye for it and I'm afraid my Oregano is taking over :( I lover growing herbs but this one is invasive and not very attractive :( You are the best grandma! You are making wonderful memories with your grandkids :)
ReplyDeleteMy oregano is taking over the pot too..and full of blooms..it is a heavy grower for certain..not a perennial for me..it would actually make a nice ground cover I find..
Deletedon't despair..you will get to know your gardens..you are both relatively new to each other)
your clematis look wonderful and i like that little plaque that says garden queen. It is all so pretty. The birthday party sounds wonderful, yes parties nowadays are so much more amazing than they used to be. Grizz looks so incredibly cute in the fort, made me smile.
ReplyDeleteHe always makes me smile.
DeleteHe looks like a stuffed toy w/ a cute personality:)
Amazing dragonfly shot! What cute Potter outfits! Your muffins sound wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThe dragonfly just stayed there and I was grateful:)Thanks Penny:)
DeleteOh, what a great capture with the dragon fly! My, what big eyes you have ;) You garden looks beautiful, Monique. I'm glad your rose chafers are almost finished. Here, I am expecting the arrival of the Japanese Beetles any time now :( They will last until the end of summer and chop at so many pretties. Happy Birthday to Noah! He makes a perfect Harry :) What a wonderful party and I hadn't seen the magna blocks yet. I will have to look into those :) Grizz sitting so perfectly in the middle, his feet just perfect on the blocks - I wuv him. I saw the comment about oregano - I would advice not to plant in the ground as it can be quite invasive here...unless it has boundaries :) Strong ones. I love Happy too - it does make you Happy - just like a chocolate chip muffin! Yummers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip..so sort of like mint..it is huge.. why isn't my lavender huge?:)
DeleteThose blocks are fantastic Susan.. the kids played inside later and that was the main attraction..they are magnetic..big..light and let the light shine in beautifully..your Littles would love them and both of them are at the right age..
At 7..Noah liked those.. a pogo stick....roller baldes and a skateboard. He is fearless..and busy. Thus the outdoor things mostly..oh an a neat hard Avengers suitcase;)
Have a great week~
It's always a joy to see your posts, it's like a basket full to the brim of charming exciting gifts to savor. What a delightful muffin tin, it looks so pretty you could even serve them from the tin. lovely selection of photos. It sounds like the party was a success. I don't ever remember having birthday parties like that when I was a child.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having a good summer Barbara.. taking an online painting class you might enjoy..Shari Blaukopf..I am not good at that genre..(or really any other)..but it's a great class..learning a lot:)
DeleteTinker toys were what I played with. He'll always remember that birthday. How cute! Your gardens look wonderful. Do they just grow that way or do you have to work very hard at gardening? I was always happiest with the presents and cake.
ReplyDeleteFall and Spring are a lot of work..I keep several beds around our homeand some are large..
Deleteso yes..I have to maintain them..and they are labor intensive some days.
but it is my only exercise really..:)
I was not spoiled either.. not much $$ growing up..
had a part time job at 15 and always kept one after..to help w/ school etc..
it was fun though..I liked my jobs..a fabric store first..then a clothes store....lol the manager made us wear the clothes and stand at the front of the store..(hot pants..don't laugh..) then..cosmetics in a lovely large chain store..
I can't remember my birthdays:( At all... not one cake..and I know she made them.I had a great mom..wish I could remember.
As always, a beautiful post. Love that muffin baker! Also love the party theme, along with the cute boys and adorable dog!!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
He is a little toy..full of mischief!
DeleteOh, Monique - even your muffin tin is a thing of beauty! Of course, I expect nothing less from you.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a faulous birthday party. Happy birthday to Noah!
For Jacques to say..I like looking at that..;)
DeleteSaid it all..
:)
This is the prettiest muffin dish I've ever seen. And the little Potters a so cute :-)
ReplyDeleteAmalia
xo
Thank you!
DeleteHappy Birthday to Noah. July is the perfect birthday month. I love the muffin tin-is that from Anthropologie? Does it bake well?
ReplyDeleteIt is not from Anthro Esme..I found them a bit too pricey for a 61 year old;)
DeleteIf I was a younger baker..it would be different.
This was a "find" at a Christmas Tree Shop in Williston Vermont..it was on it's own..not even in the right dept..someone must have loved it and left it..
Both my husband and I liked it..that's unheard of..for him to comment on a pan, before anything is baked in it.
It baked the muffins like a charm..and they popped out..easy clean really a jewel of a pan.
$7.99..I could not resist..I have left it out on a dry sink in the kitchen..
I wished I had had a summer birthday growing up~:)
Thanks Esme.
How have I missed 2 beautiful posts?
ReplyDeleteNoah looks so cute in his costume!
Your Rose photo is breath taking...
You bake more than ANYBODY I know! :o)
Gardens looking lush...beautiful cookware...and a thoughtful gift from a fellow blogger!
It's all good, eh Monique?
We had heavy thunderstorms today...supposed to break the humidity....
Enjoy your evening...
Cheers!
Linda :o)
ps....love your garden visitor!
We were supposed to have TS yesterday..just a small shower early morn..today..strikingly beautiful..less humid..
DeleteIt was a lovely surprise from Marie:) Can't get them here..so unique.
The pics in this post are great. Cute dragonfly. I can never get them to sit still long enough for a picture. It looks like the kids (and their owls) had fun at the Harry Potter party. Birthday parties for kids now are sure different than when I was a kid. .
ReplyDeleteThat is the prettiest muffin tin I have ever seen, and the muffins looked very good, too.
I am not familiar with rose chafers. We get Japanese beetles here. I have only seen a very few this year. Maybe most of them drowned with all of the downpours we have been getting. I think my roses did better with the Japanese beetle holes bitten into them, than they are with all of this rain. I think it has rained 5 days out of 7 for a few weeks here now. Not normal at all. I hope that my roses will recover from the black spot that some of them are developing. They never had it before. I am hoping a few sunny, hot, dry, breezy summer days will take care of the problem.
Grizz makes a very cute King of the Castle!
Susie D.
She just stayed there perched..lucky me..I too like the tin a lot:)
DeleteThat's a lot of rain for you..and yes rain can cause havoc w/ roses..they are beauties..that are picky..Primadonnas:)
The dragonfly shot is beautiful Monique. I was sitting on the deck reading a magazine the other day after company left and a blue tipped dragonfly landed on the page. Got the same feeling that he was looking at me. Your garden is so lush. Noah's Mom went all out on the Harry Potter theme. My Rachel would have felt so at home at his party. The muffins would be eaten quickly by my gang. They went through 4 dozen chocolate chip cookies while they were here. Love the photo of Grizz and the light blocks. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYou had a real crowd Penny..so fun..what memories..have to check out your DIL's blog:)
DeleteLove the photo of Noah and his friend, everyone must have had a wonderful time at the party. Your gardens are beautiful…everything is so green.
ReplyDeleteGetting a bit dry..a gardener is nevr happy is she?
DeleteI hope you are getting activity on your home?
I remember here..July was quiet..most years..
Fingers crossed for you..
Washing windows today.
I used to do the whole house same day..not anymore...
Such beautiful, beautiful images and thoughts.... as always, Monique! Love your little Harry Potter folk. We celebrated a birthday on the Fourth, too... of a mermaid variety. ;) And, my precious Alex is celebrating his in VA today... Star Wars! His little Momma leaves no detail untended either... and, like you... I only remember Pin the Tail on the Donkey... once. ;) So nice to visit such a beautiful spot. Thank you, dear one. blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteI have missed you!
