My Serviceberry (amélanchier)..was in top form this past weekend..the peak of it's beauty.I love that tree..Lucas' age.
It looks like a big fluffy white cotton candy ball on a trunk.
It lasts for a breath..but it's a breath I crave..every Spring.
The sun came out Saturday and I had a chance to investigate and see what happened over the winter..seems our grass has been taken over by Creeping Charlie..Lamb's Ears..Forget Me Nots and Ajuga..oyoyoy..anyways once mowed it all looked better..
I did weed.. but they come back faster than I can annihilate them:(
Jacques did mow and I was ooh lalaing again instead of oyoyoying:)
Lots of pretty muscari and violets..mini blue hues here and there.
Pretty pinks in another favorite tree..my flowering almond..packed with buds this year!! The whole tree!
Like miniature fairy roses all over it.
I baked a little apple pie..celebrating petals and blooms.
It's as if nature is truly having a coming out party:)
A debutante ball.
The pie is basic..your fave crust..I love Ricardo's..I took 2 apples, a tbsp of flour..cinnamon,cardamom..a dot of butter..
Baked till the under was done..I like that small heart glass dish because it's small,it's clear and I see under..
I am sure the neighbors think I have a problem..I can walk around many times in a day and click click click..because in the span of just a few hours..things have grown:)
I am telling the truth.Watch f you have interest in seeing what happens to a garden in Spring.
Late Saturday turned to ugly..and ugly lingered into Sunday..threats of frost and snow..so the baskets we do have came in..my sicklings..not seedlings..sicklings this year..came in..and the geraniums..the basil ,the potted cherry tomato plant..thing is..we are so anxious here in QC..we tempt fate..and start everything too darn early.
Oh well....
The boys..literally crack me up..Lucas and Oli were over on Thursday..Oli asked if I could put tattoos on him..Me? Of course..I just happen to have the Star Wars ones here..where do you want them..and he showed me his cheeks and forehead..
Done:)
But mommy could not get them off for school the next day..nor for dinner out at Mamie's the Saturday..so when Max and Oli went out for dinner..(Lucas was at a sleepover)..Oli went just the way he was:)♥
Oh to be 6 again and not give a dang about anything..
Imagine..if you had temp tattoos on your face..who would notice the imperfections?
I have a rubber stamp I use on my family's cards..it simply says:
LOVE YOUR FACE.
Because I do.
Have a great week!
BTW..mommy never tells nana don't do that..re the tattoos..she is very easygoing.
PS..it's 9.35 AM May 16th..and it's snowing:(
May 17th..no snow..:) Added the serviceberry and almond branches so you can see the profusion of blessed blooms!
Beautiful pics. My three kids all have tattoos and I hope the grands don't think it is so cool when they grow up. My dad would have had a fit. New generations. Same with piercings, but that is where I draw the line. My littles love to wear the temporary ones too. We had a cooler than normal weekend too and it is time to repot. It never gets all done. Cute little pie. Almost too cute to eat.
ReplyDeleteIt's.................................................................snowing.
DeleteI can't believe it.
My parents would have never allowed me to have a tattoo..never..
I think my mother would have cried..
It really wasn't the style though back then..
Now it is almost unusual to not have one.
I know I don't want one.
Some are cute though..both mine have one also..and I would have never believed it.
My youngest dd had hers done at 38..a small family on her wrist..our eldest..in college..a tiny fairy on her back..I threw a fit.LOL.
None of my business.
I should have acted like I never noticed.WE learn w/ age..
The wise one;)Not.
My son-in-law pierced his nipples. That didn't last long;) It just seems so silly to me. My dad was mad when I pierced my ears. Middle daughter is the one getting colored ones as sleeves and on her back. They don't show in her work clothes (thank God) but sure do in sundresses. I've told her no more, but she doesn't listen. They are pretty, but still, Mom doesn't like them. No snow in May. Mother Nature is playing a trick.
DeleteOMY ..nipples must kill:(
DeleteIt's an art form..and on the beaches I have seen head to toe..
I think if you have never suffered physically..you go for it..people who have suffered would not subject themselves to more of anything..
This mom prefers no tats too..
but I am so old fashioned it isn't funny..and they are 40 plus..I don't have anything to say:)
Funny..I would have thought you would have one:) A teeny one:)
I mean that in an artistic cool way:)
We had two lovely service berry trees at our old house. None here. I miss them! As always, thanks for sharing those adorable boys. Happy memories of my own--one of which will be here for a short visit next week!!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
You mustbe so excited!:) Happy for you.
DeleteSuch a cute assemblage of pictures. I particularly love the heart-shaped floral pie, it's so adorable :)
ReplyDeleteC'est très gentil Romain!
DeleteTwo KEWL kids, perfect pie, pretty posies and dainties, Oh. My! What a fabulous MAY you're having. Thank you for sharing such delightful doings.
ReplyDeleterachel
Aren't they so kewl?:) You made me smile..:)Thank you.
DeleteMerci M~A!
Such lovely photos and your boys are adorable, don't tell that what I said. I'm sure they would be far rather be called 'cool'.my grandsons went through the stick on tattoos, hope they don't get the real ones, one of them is likely to as his dad has a huge bird in flight on his back.
ReplyDeleteThat lovely tart is so special, with the pretty forget-me-nots topping it. All so pretty.
Those two are still so "young"..we can compliment them w/ any words and they beam.
DeleteI think I don't want to know if they get tattoos..their little skin is so perfect:) You know what I mean:)
Isn't it just so child-like to not even care about going out to a resto w/ Star Wars on your face?
I wish I had his innocence:)
Sweet little bouquet, funny boys, and o' how I'd love to sit down for that pie with you. :) I know, you're not into sweets. . . .We could find you a good salad or pasta. ;) Lovely post, Monique, even if there's snow outside your window while you write it. My parents are north of me and had to cover their plants and flowers this weekend and were none too thrilled, but spring will be back. ♥ Petal power, yes. :)
ReplyDeleteYour little niece must be growing by leaps and bounds:)Have not seen her in a while...hint hint;)
DeleteI will be back..and so many things could be so much worse than inclement weather..this I know for certain:)
I am a malcontent sometimes..Spring will return:)
Loved Donnas comment about the tattooes!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter Erika has many....surprise surprise!
My Dad was very annoyed when I got my ears pierced!
Your little are just too cute...and that pie! Oh my!
Weather is better this evening...got out for a walk...I am lumpy! Hahaha!
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Oh me too a tad winter lumpy for certain..snug in things ..the weather is getting better..may go pick up a few things to plant this weekend..beat the crowds!
DeleteVivian and I are going again tomorrow...
DeletePlan to stop by the Nursery by the cottage, and grab a truckful for planting!!
Need to get my baskets and pots started!
Still chilly here today...:o(
Leaving now:)
DeleteOur weather has been crazy cool. But your garden looks so beautiful. Funny thing is we are getting ready to plant 4 serviceberry trees. I was so excited to see your photos!
ReplyDeleteAbbe..you will love them..one thing I can say..mine gets sun all day..definitely helps..our son-in-law but one and he just moved it..it was not getting enough sun..if the birds don't eat them all you will get a lot of edible fruit..but the one week bloom period is stunning..I will try and take a pic today..sun came out:)
Deleteack, snow! Winter's last hurrah? Peut etre. We have had gloriously sunny days, but with a cold North wind. Your pie is perfection, your blooms, so beautiful. The boys, so charming, even with the face tatoos! Seriously cute. They will be breaking hearts one day. My sister has had a whole sleeve done on one arm, and she is 57. Pastel nature ones, with robins eggs, and butterfly and dragonfly. Beautiful they are, but not something I would ever do. To each his own. Your tea cups are gorgeous! I love LOVE them. They remind me of Susan Branch or Marge Bastolein. (Sp?) You have some really lovely things. Thanks for always sharing your lovely photos with us. They bring a song to my heart and a smile to my face. Love my visits with you. xoxo
ReplyDeleteIf you can believe I took that pic for you:)
DeleteThey are Marjolein's work..a gift from one of my daughter's Mother's Day..the yr we moved here so 16 years..I Googled products..and it's as I thought seeing less and less of her things..maybe she is quieter now..EBAY has some good deals..a cute tea pot etc..lots of things w/ your name on them:)
Have a beautiful day Marie.Thank you:)
Yay, I was right! I just thought they were hers! But didn't know for sure. I will have to check out Ebay. You never know! It could be my lucky day! xoxo
DeleteHope so!
DeleteLove the lattest photos with no snow and lots of blooms! xo
DeleteThank you Marie..more hopeful!
The boys look so grown up and stylish despite the tattoos. They are going to handsome young men soon (where has time gone that they grew up so fast?). I did not know almond trees would grow that far north. We went to England years ago and Leeds Castle had two. They smelled wonderful. Does yours? I bet the pie smelled wonderful too and Jacque was a happy camper. Still weeding, transplanting but yesterday was so windy I did not work in the garden, it made it feel much colder. Snow still, ugh! We just have had rain. I think today I will venture out to tackle the garden some more. Hope your snow melted and your spring flowers held up to mother natures tricks.
ReplyDeleteI just came back from one garden place hunt..I will bring things in tonight..still need my baskets..a few..
DeleteThsi yr I bought my Morning Glory and Cobea..well established as my seedlings look awful Terry.
You know..seems like yesterday when we were all on GBs w/ no Littles! Time is indeed flying by..Terry f you like coffee..I have a new recipe:) Delish!
Hope all is well:)
Oh no, snow on your lovely garden…that is not good. What is good are all your delightful photos. I love that I get to share your lovely spring, it is one thing that I really miss about living in Florida. Now the snow on the other hand. :D
ReplyDeleteThank goodness it's gone Karen..I can see that maybe only now and true fall you may miss..but the long winter?
DeleteYou will be rejoicing:)
i love little bouquets so much and yours is so so pretty, and your grandsons look so handsome and so happy. I can't believe you had snow, i hope the flowers survived it. Oh and that flowering almond i've never seen one before wow i think they are my favorite and you captured it beautifully.
ReplyDeletehope its a lovely week for you despite snow :)
I just added a photo..s of the almond and serviceberry..they are such wonderful dainty beautiful bloomers..
DeleteI too love bouqutes..small or large as long as favorite flowers are in them:)
Thanks Jenni:)
I'm thinking "Where did the past two days go?" that I haven't had time to comment! Lunch with a visiting out-of-town dear friend on Monday, a meeting with my jewelry photography lady on Monday afternoon, the annual plant shopping pilgrimage ALL day yesterday with Barbara and her sister. Nothing at all planted yet, our weather has just been too 'iffy'. By this weekend, smooth sailing and I'll be planting everything! Yay! How I despise Creepy Charlie. It has taken three years of work to try and get it out of one garden bed and it still comes back. The stuff is invincible I think.
ReplyDeleteYour pie is the perfect celebration for this time of year. Debutante ball - LOL. Love those adorable crust petals! Your trees are so pretty, Monique! But those boys♥ So handsome and très cool in their blazers, tees and shades and a forehead tattoo :-)
I bought many ..well not many..but a few things at the nursery yesterday and waiting for the weekend also..it was 40 and hour ago..50 now..
Deletethe boys crack me up..Caroline took that pic in the car..
you have been a busy bee..we are so much buser this time of year..but a good busy..I am pinning gardening quotes instead of wishful thinking quotes:)
Enjoy the weekend:)
It's a long one here..
Mon, those boys are soon cool! Gorgeous boys! I love their hair! Your pie is a work of art...love the glass heart! That must have been a find! You are so behind us...it is cold but the trees bloomed long ago. It was an early Spring here, even though it is way below average temps now. I am waiting to plant my annuals on Saturday...hoping for a warm spell. I can never get the Forget-me-nots to come back here...:(
ReplyDeleteBisous xoxoxo
I was ruthless last year w/ my FMNs..I yanked so many that my showing is much more minimalistic this year:( Serves me right..dotted..but not profuse..
DeleteI am planting Sat too:) I think many of us will be..
That was a find..:) It's got an arrow also..100 yrs ago Linda..100 years ago:)
We are twinsies for our little kitchen treasures.x
It's warm now..just cleaned up the round bed for the 10th time this Spring;)
Cute tattoos and love the pie! Snow in May.... :(
ReplyDeleteI am sure you do not miss that:)
DeleteWhat a sweet post Monique. The boys look so handsome. Love those cups, how sweet they are. You are always baking up a storm.
ReplyDeleteBecause I live in Siberia compared to u:)
DeleteOh my, just look at those cool dudes! Lucky nana :-)
ReplyDeleteX will be just like that:)
DeleteToo fun with the tattoos and your little guys! Our young grandson loves them too. The serviceberries are pretty pretty and so are the pie petals. Can't plant anything here until the end of May and this post makes me want to get at it. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou too Pam!
DeleteMonique, Your boys should be in the movies or models, they're so cute!! Our kids have grown up too fast and sharing your grandkids is the best! No grandkids yet, not even married. Can't wait til the day! Back to your post, love the apple pie and petals on it. Wish I could have a piece, I know it is out of this world! Photos of garden flowers are never a disappointment!! Always love stopping by, Jody
ReplyDeleteI love seeing what's happening in your world also:)
DeleteThey are so much fun these boys of ours:)♥You will see!
Haha so funny about Oli - and your daughter is a gem :) Love the blooms and the pie - I need to find a little glass pie plate now! Lovely post and crazy weather.
ReplyDeleteI found out they are vintage GlassBake:)
