~Home..Sweet Home.

Stay Home..Restez Chez Vous~

The above has all been repaired and ready to frame, grateful I did all those needlepoint Christmas stockings as I had yarn leftover that matched the areas!

In this time of truly nesting at home..
I again implore you to stay home..and not  mingle..

I recently voiced my opinion..to someone from 30 ft away..stating I thought people not going by the rules..were selfish..irresponsible and stupid.
Why should health care workers risk their own lives while idiots disobey?
The person said..:"Oh well..it's human nature..blablabla..."

Sad.
We can't be complacent.
Be aware of all the acts of kindness..but don't stand for ignorance...The ignorance of people not being disciplined.

Being even more at home..than usual..if that's at all possible..I've looked at things more closely..like some stitchery I did in the 70's  and perhaps very early 80's.
They hang in the basement here in the hallway leading to my craft room..which has a lot going on right now..

The first one..I unframed because some stitches were fraying and it was stained..but not many..so I have now restitched the frayed ones on the roof and a few stray ones..it's re~stretched and ready to be stuck in a frame when I can get to one..
They are 16x20.
Caroline wants it..and then Mylène said she would take the others:)
I gave many as gifts..and I gave some to clients.
I regret the gifting of a few;)

Anyway..time to refresh items I have grown to love again.
Linda @  http://linda-keaveney.blogspot.com/  stitched as a young mom too and we follow each other on IG..I told her i would show more details:)
So some are here.

awful pics ..sorry..

I can't tell you how stitching these kept me company as a very young mom in the 70's w/ 2 baby girls sleeping.

I still love stitching~

The pillows are from the same era..but have been in our living rooms..forever..the words..I've always had words pretty much everywhere..

In all of this..  a story that actually made me laugh..

Many of you know that Mylène and Alain wintered Bécassine at their home..not sure when I will have her back..as we are not seeing anyone or going anywhere for feed and such..but she's in great hands. The hands that raised her.

During this quarantine I guess M cleaned out her fridge and found a piece of Boston Cream pie I made for birthdays Feb 14th  ..lol

So Alain fed it to the chickens..it looked fine..lol again..
Anyway the chickens went nuts pecking away like they always do..
but Bécassine pecked twice and walked away.
Alain said to Mylène:"She's just like your mother..2 bites of dessert and that's it"!

SO TRUE.
Anyway made me laugh that Bécassine is like me:)
We all need a smile these days.

If you are still reading..
Take care..Stay Home.

And Thank you M.Legault et Cie for being such a great father to QC.

  2. Dearest Monique,
Haha, you post about fabulous stitching done for therapy (it always is, for any handwork that is!) and you simultaneously posted a riddle.
SOLVED it when I mirrored it and the word Antique showed! Make that horse s tand still next time you take a photo and not flip it again!
We're both home and run out of hours as I'm still working on Pieter's book. A mega task but hopefully when all this is over with, we feel happy and relieved.
    Sending you hugs,
    Mariette

      It's all so extraordinary..

Re ANTIQUES..:)Yes I read 100 yrs ago when you look in a mirror..you are seeing the opposite..It was Matt lLauer on the Today Show..hello? Matt Lauer?:(
To think I liked him once..

      Things are changing so fast.
I hate to think what our US/Canada relations will be after all this:(
      We've been good neighbours.

      Take care..

      It's so sad out there.

    2. Did not need the mirror, just flipped it horizontal on my Mac...
IF only we can leave the politics out of this!
Humans are humans; no borders in my opinion.
      Hugs and stay safe,

  3. Yes, well said! I too get frustrated by selfishness like this. The needlepoint, what a wonderful, lovely, creative calming thing. My old good friend, when she was rasing her 2 children did a lot of needlepoint. She and my Mom used to exchange their creations, and I was the recipient of some as well. Yes, need to laugh, thank you for the good cheer. De chez moi à chez toi (that's probably incorrect French, but I try...) Rita

  5. Your stitching from days past is so beautiful, Monique. So detailed. It must have taken a very long time but what beautiful results! You must miss Beccasine very much. I'm glad she's being well cared for in her absence. That's a funny story but it explains why you can bake so much and make such good food and not look as broad as I!

"It's human nature." BAH! It's our lives. I'm glad you are staying home. So glad. Me, too.

  6. Such beautiful detail in your stitchery, Monique! The rooms in the house are so charming and the greenery growing up the porch is beautiful. I have a lovely little watercolor someone gifted me that needs a frame also but I have to wait until I can shop for one ♥. Some day! Such a cute story about Beccasine. Alain has a great sense of humor :)

  8. I wish I could take two bites of dessert then walk away! I seem to really be struggling with stress eating right now. Goodness.

I am staying home though I have had to do a grocery pick up. I live very rural but I can order groceries, drive in & they will load it into my car without me getting out. My family has been going to work through all of this & I am watching my grandson. People still need to eat so there are many people who still need to work & that's where we are. But we're taking every precaution we can.

    Stay safe

I live very rural too..not farmland by any means but a town of 5000..and we can order online also.
But family lives across the street..family of 5..parents are working from home and have to..but my son-in-law picks up our groceries for us..we are so grateful.
We don't have all the fresh produce we had..but we are more than making do.
All those food chain people♥Pharmacists that deliver to your door..health care workers..agriculture..transport..GOD bless them all.
      I do want them blessed.

Many are doing things out of stress..
what a gift you are to look after your grandson♥
Great Call The Midwife this week about a nana looking after her grandchild...
      Take care..
Here we keep repeating..ca va bien aller!

  14. Monique, each stitchery is a work of art! I'm fascinated with the detail on these. I know you enjoy them still after all those years. My mom did embroidery and counted cross stitch. One of my favorite pillows is one she stitched for me when I was in college. My sister married that year, and my mother stitched a pillow as a gift for her wedding shower. I was envious! Then my next birthday, she gave me my pillow. I think that is one of the reasons it is so special to me. I'm glad your daughters want these evidentually.
I agree, I don't understand those who think it is ok to take this lightly. Selfish!

  18. I watch M. Legault from the other end of the country and I find him warm and calming, reassuring, and human. He speaks with sincerity and gentle humour. Many of our country's leaders are stepping up to the plate during this crisis.

I did a number of large crewel stitchery pieces when my children were very small. They were all given away or discarded when we moved. I wish I could see them again. Yours are beautiful treasures.

I am home, swamped by trying to learn to teach online. My husband is in health care administration and is working every day with a reduced number of people, but still in his office. Long days.

  19. You have to be able to laugh Monique, especially at a time like this that we are all going through. It is hard to believe that the whole world is experiencing this at the same time, some countries worse than others. I think I am still a bit in shock. Like you, when my children were small, needlework and other crafts were my main companions. My husband was often away as he was in the Military so it was just myself and the kiddles. Needlework kept me sane! Yours are stunning! What luck that you have them still. Lots of mine were given away or absconded in the divorce by the soon to be new Mrs. (Don't ask. Even I don't understand that one.)Anyhoo! How wonderful that your girls want them! Our days are running together here. They say we are about to enter the most dangerous phase now. Please people stay home! Please, please, please! It is a small thing to ask, but can make a huge difference to many! Happy Easter Monique. I know this is not the Easter any of us planned. We will make the most of it in our own little space! Love and hugs. xoxo
