~November Snowpeople~Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends♥

A very fuzzy Ipad pic of a kitchen window..100 yrs ago I made these stars my daughter taught me to do for  our office window..it looked so pretty..you need 6 sheets of white paper..scissors..scoth tape and a staple and this video..

Mitten garland from a few years back..snowmen..and lights..some precious Sarah gifts and it's a fave sight.

I love making these snowpeople..I told you about them last year and this year they are multiplying.

Our tree is up..all outdoor lights done.
A little early but glad we did.
Fairy lights are soothing medicine at night.

And I still have visions of my mom staring at ours in the dark w/ the light of her cigarette being the only other light.
Please picture the classiest woman you ever did see..she would be over 100..yrs ago..it was chic.

I started watching  The Crown Season 4..I may backtrack..
J is not into it at all..
He knows everything..
All their names since season 1..but has never wanted to watch it.

Canadians seem to want less and less of the monarchy.QC in particular.

Watching the first 3 episodes made me cringe for Diana.
I truly had no idea Charles was that sad at the prospect of marrying her.
And if the Royal Family was that mean to Diana..well..
Margaret..what a pill.Have you noticed the similarity to Reese Witherspoon? Certain angles..

That poor girl...Diana..
She plays the role very very well.
They all do..
G.Anderson although her voice is a tad too tremulous( I should talk..)  does a great job. She's such a cold actress..Perfect role.
And The Royals were mean to her also.
That's bullying..sorry but it's a form of..  ridicule is never right.
I wonder how the boys feel if they are watching.

Not impressed am I.

But I am enjoying it.And yes I realize it's a show..and a lot of it may be fabricated..

Above is one of my fave special soups .I have been making it since 2005.
You can find the recipe here.
And you can play w/ it.I chose not to add the coconut milk and peanut butter... today.I used 2 % milk and maple syrup instead of brown sugar.
Delicious as always.

The words..the felts..the glass..etc..when you are old..you are old:)

There's no theme..just life. And I think of each one and it's origin when it goes up..

And while decorating it..not only do I think of the ornaments and their provenance..but I think of people I know that have much more than Covid going on.

We are also watching The Undoing.
It has good reviews..I almost can't stand it.
First of all..Nicole Kidman...her face? What's up with it?

I can't bear to look and neither can Jacques.
Why can't women age gracefully and not look like their face is tied at the back w/ many clips?
IMHO.
Just passing the days here...No more gardening..so far less exercise..not a good thing at all.

I hope you are yours are well..  vaccines are around the corner..
Stay safe. Many of you will have before us..It was a surprise to me to learn that we are in line.

We had quite a bit of snow yesterday..enough for the plow to come and for Jacques to have work to do..

I LOVE where I live.

Below aerial views that were on social media..not my photos.A drone took them..imagine that.Did I mention I love it here?

He never complains ..it's exercise for him.
He is a fitness virtuoso.

From London to Paris:)

Stay Safe.

  4. What a beautiful post. I read The Hunting Party a while ago, and enjoyed it. I haven't started series 4 of The Crown yet, only seen trailers, but I did think Gillian's voice was a bit strange, although Thatcher had elocution lessons to lower her voice. In those days the royals had to follow very strict rules of behaviour dictated by government and church, even down to who they could or could not marry, hence Charles' lack of enthusiasm and Margaret's rebellion. She wasn't a nice person. I remember my parents saying what a parasite she was living off the tax payers money. I have always been a royalist though.

I know a lot of this season is fabrication..but they can't be that far off.
The actress that plays Diana..Emma Corrin is very good I find..actually all the actors are excellent IMHO.
I thought I wuld love The Hunting Party more..I am so critical ..re books..lol and obviously othere things:) Started The Glass Hotel..Polly it seems I can't concentrate these days and rely on IG and crafts etc..Take care..

  6. Oh, Monique, how this post delights. I'm here packing up pumpkins and turkeys all the while your home is twinkling with fairy lights. Your snowy day must feel cozy inside your home looking out at the snowy scene. I admire all your felts. You are so talented, creative in all you do. I know your girls appreciate these treasures, I hope the boys do too. Someday they will have families and trees of their own. We never know how sentimental children will be as adults. My nieces - some are, some not.
I was just talking to my best friend from childhood. Her mom was an accomplished seamstress. She made all of my friend's clothes and beautifully tailored clothes for her doll. One year for my birthday, she made my doll some clothes. I can't tell you how special of a gift that was! My doll didn't have much of a wardrobe, so when my friend and I played with our dolls together, it must have been obvious to my friend's mom. I've never wanted to part with them for sentimental reasons, but they sit in a box in the attic. My friend has a little granddaughter who will be 3 this year. I think it is time to bring them out of the attic and give them to a little girl. She won't appreciate what they mean to me, but that's not important. No child could! But they will hopefully be lovingly played with for years to come.
Love the Fa La La ribbon. I need to look for some.

  7. Thank you, we did have a Happy Thanksgiving. We had a bonfire in a clearing in our woods. I lined the path from the house with tea lights in glass jars. Then, my grandson wanted to go to the water in the dark so we each grabbed a tealight & his little lantern, left the fire & everyone else to go down the long dark path to the bench by the water. I was hoping to see a beaver but we were much, much too noisy! He was passed out in their truck before they got the end of our driveway.

I think this is the year to make these snowflakes...I've had the pattern saved forever.

I watched season 1 of the crown but never got back into it. I rarely watch tv by myself & my husband didn't want to watch. Not sure if I could watch Diana..I agree...her story is so sad. How hard it must be for her parents, her family & the boys.

My decorating theme is Christmas! I've never had a theme except for a small tree I cover in cardinals in memory of my mother.

  10. Love your tree, it’s a memory tree like mine. No snow here on the west coast but lashings of rain and high winds, very November! My husband spent the day pruning and doing dump runs with the branches. The garden looks sad but come spring it will bring joy again. Covid is going nuts on our island. We haven’t seen the grandkids for 10 months Their island up north has never come out of lockdown. No planes have landed or left since March. HappyAdvent, r

I miss celebratory dinners all squaished at dinner tables..with our family the most..the hugs..a call from my daughters saying want to go for a coffee and shopping?Last yr visiting a Christmas village with artisans and lunch people all so close together..One of my families lives kittie corner across the street and we have not disrespect orders at all.
I see families on IG HUDDLED together.

  11. Lovely post and your Christmas decoration are so sweet! I'm ready to buy a tree. I can leave it in a bucket of water in the garage until I'm ready to haul it in to the living room, let the branches fall, then string my 1000 yards of lights~~~~ the more the merrier!

We had a sprinkling of snow that turned to rain. Nothing to brag about...

I'm starting to watch more series. Regular old TV is not so interesting. I watched the series about the Royals, the non-fictional version. I will watch The Crown and The Undoing. Currently I'm steaming The Queens Gambit on Netflix...it has nothing to do with England. High thumbs up in reviews and from moi!

Sending love and good wishes, Monique!😘

  15. Always a joy to see you sharing your love of Christmas and all the accoutrements. The snow, not so much but I'm glad you enjoy how pristine it looks.

The Undoing, not my cup of tea. Plus I am increasingly less fond of series. I much prefer a movie. Once and done. Have you seen Hillbilly Elegy on NF? I enjoyed it a few days ago and have reserved the book from the library. I read The Flight Attendant this past week. Good read. It was made into a series on HBO Max. It leaves a lot to be desired. I think if I hadn't read the book I would be lost.

  17. You certainly live in a little patch of heaven on earth Monique! Love those aerial views! My father remembers taking the ferry across once and he says it was a beautiful area. I love all of your Christmas decos! So pretty and your snowmen are adorable. You do such a beautiful job with everything. Will you all still be under lockdown come Christmas? My cousin in the North has tested positive and they were all just at my Aunts funeral. So far nobody else. Fingers crossed. I love the Crown. I feel bad for both Charles and Diana! That marriage should never have taken place. Gillian Anderson’s voice drives me crazy also. But she plays a good part. I will have to look for the Nicole Kidman show. Your food always looks so good! Looking at your photos makes me want that soup for sure! Bonne weekend! ❤️❤️❤️

    1. As it stands for Christmas..and it is subject to change.. our PM is saying one week prior..no one can have contact with anyone outside the Christmas get together..no more than 10 people.. from 3 families.
2 days..trying to help parents that have divorced and have 2 families.
So in our case..we are 12:( 2 are from 2 different families.. and my Lieutenant son-in-law definitely has to work..not sure re Fred and Caro..
and all this is subject to change..Has to be in a large spae where people can be more than 6 feet away and masks.
Not sure how food will work.
      It is very complicated.
I was disappointed to hear JTrudeau say that by SEPTEMBER most CDns will have recieved the vaccine.
Oh my gosh the funeral..Fingers crossed.

Yes your dad would have taken a ferry from Oka to here I guess..it's the only direct ferry.
The ferry stops ..and eventually an ice bridge works..I would never..lol.

Hope you enjoy every minute of your new life.

  18. You Snow people are so adorable! What a cute fun village of them you've created. I love seeing your decorations each year ♥ We're not putting up the big tree again this year so I miss having a place to hang the larger ornaments but I'll be creative :) I want a smaller big tree if that makes sense - LOL. One that fits without having to move the furniture. I know I've said that before - LOL. I wish we had Netflix but we have so much to watch we are not at a loss so it's okay. I love that aerial view! I think I see the golf course so thinking this must be very close to Chez Toi!

  20. Your snow people are the cutest things ever. Is there a tutorial anywhere for these? They're just precious. I love them on the windowsill but also tucked in as you did. My online time is limited for a bit but when I saw you had a post I had to come here because I knew it would make me feel better. Seeing your ornaments and beautiful tree -- a tree of life. It reminds me of my main tree, all things that I love and like you, I remember where those ornaments came from. I loved the overhead photos of where you live, too. Yes, I can see why you love it. The Crown -- I enjoy it tremendously but find this season harder to watch. I can't decide if it's because I "know the story," having read so many books and articles about Diana and Charles or if it's because it is so sad, or because we know the ending yet to come. We watched quite a lot on Thanksgiving and finished over the weekend. I'm amazed at the likenesses. Happy decorating -- I hope I will join you on that task soon!

    1. I am amazed at the likenesses also and at the sheer fabulous talent of all these actors..Charles..spot on..Diana..the Queen..I am finished also..Jacques wouldn't watch it and am sorry it ended..Me too..knowing the tragic ending..Princess Kate is very much Di..in real life..the fashion..the litheness..
      I would hate that life.

I am so surprised I did not link to.. here..https://www.instagram.com/sweetroseandwren/?hl=en

      Vey fun to make:)
Every time I posted on IG I linked to her..she's a doll.Talented..creative..and brave.and beautiful. Her stories..about hair loss etc are touching.
