~On my mind constantly~

Still doing things..I've loved distractions for years, crafts, gardening baking..painting..so I keep the hobbies up..but always on my mind.

Last night we watched War In Winter on Netflix..So sad.. their courage is beyond amazing.Very insightful to the pride they have for their country.

Trop triste.

My friend T sent me this this morning..

You can listen to Sting here.

  1. Your blog is so charming and uplifting in these difficult times. It's a good thing to get our minds off of what is going on in the world if only for a moment. We have a farm (a second home) with a rocking chair front porch that overlooks a very large field. My husband planted sunflowers in the field a few years ago and I enjoyed them so much when I would go up there for a weekend. Your post has reminded me to ask him to plant them again. Unfortunately, he may tell me that the cost has gone up so much that it isn't worth it. I'll just have to explain to him that it's worth it to me just to be able to soak in the beauty and it fills me with JOY. Your blog is outstanding.

  3. Your sunflowers -- both the painting and the photos -- are exquisite. Yes, I'm still "doing things" but I also have to watch. I hate that I do, but I can't tear myself away. I know this year I will be planting many more sunflowers. Big hugs to you.

  7. Beautiful thoughts, paintings and pictures Monique. Like you I can't get it out of my mind. Have we learned nothing in 80 years? It is heartbreaking and so very sad. My youngest son is in the military. I think he is over there, but I don't know for sure. They keep these things quiet. It is hard to feel helpless in the face of such horror. I know that the fear of things escalating into WW3 is very real so we must proceed with caution. What a mess. :-( xoxo

  8. Oh Monique, they are on my mind and in my heart, too. The tears flow. I keep reminding my husband and children to pray for Ukraine. Sting's song was new to me. Oh yes, I hope that the Russian leaders (esp) love their children enough to do the right thing. Sending you a big hug. xo

  11. Sadness mixes with anger when I think of the ego of a selfish little man who has caused this chaos. Have we learned nothing in the past years? The situation is always on my mind, too. Books, cooking, gardening are mind-savers.

  12. Such a juxtaposition. Sunny sunflowers and the brutal invasion of the Ukraine. I'm sure you'd love to send all the people of Ukraine some happiness and sunflowers. They are just lovely. Each day while I was away we couldn't wait to hear the news and kept hoping the sanctions would make them withdraw. Scary and sad.

  14. I tried to leave you a comment the other day, but it didn't take. Said something about an error. I've started posting again, but not so much sketches. There is a certain intensity & tristesse in your sunflower paintings. The 2nd & 3rd images with strawberries, are they your paintings or photos? A very nice quality. I am so glad you are 'still doing things', your things are lovely...
