Here, things happen quickly:)

And this year it seems quicker than ever..but is that my age?Galopping at the speed of light time is..

Like these garlic scapes..I know I'm not a looooong time grower..maybe 6 yrs now?Maybe more..But this is the first time some scapes have curled and come about so early..some..but still. Now all harvested..the scapes This June 13th.

The peonies..June 10th ..starting..The singles have come and gone!...I need to fertilize 4 doubles..they have stopped blooming:(

I am not a red person in my gardens..But I can't part w/ a clump of red/orange poppies..they don't last long so I can live with them..:)

The peach ones will pop soon..those I love. Can you spot the first little clem bloom emanating from the obelisk?

I am sure I will be back soon as this is my garden journal too.

I love pickled onions on burgers etc..
These are different and delish from Hailee..CafeHailee ..
You can find the recipe here..I love Tik Tok what can I say:)
At night before bed:)

Then I have trouble sleeping thinking about what I want to make..plant..cook..bake..lol.

That lemon loaf is a keeper.
It's from Tricia who..most of us are very familiar with as she has shared her recipes for years..

You can find the recipe here..Lemon Ricotta pound cake..I added lemon verbena and limoncello to the glaze. That' s it:)

Busy times for all the boys..fun to see them all become nice young men.
We had Noah today..he was excited to show us an award he won..ART..look at sidebar :) And history.A double.
I was so happy for him.

Again I just want them happy but to me..recognition is encouragement...and everyone needs it.
I love teachers that encouraged my daughters and now my grandchildren.

Victoire is my girl this week..another also ..but it's a surprise for someone..so keeping it under wraps.Again a painting from geeparee22 on IG..Geni..an amazing photog:)
Encourage someone this week:)

  2. I don't why once again I am anonymous and don't see how to fix. Whatever! It's Arlene again. Lovely pics and look how your garden has caught up to mine on LI. What will you use to encourage more blooms on your peony? I have an under performing one too.

I love all your sweet drawings.

    1. Hello Arlene, use a different browser. I have found some browsers show the comments as anonymous even if you are signed it. Firefox does that. Also make sure third party cookies are enabled. Blogger uses it for their commenting system. I would try Chrome.

  5. Hats off and a congratulations to Noah! Hmmm, I wonder where his artistic ability came from. It's definitely in his genes. Doesn't it feel triumphant when our young ones are achievers? Well I searched and searched for the clematis, and by George, I think I found it. Pretty well hidden among the other lavender blooms. Your photos managed to take me away this morning, and I needed it. Just came inside from trying to replant things that a garden intruder has dug up. Speaking of intruders, has your groundhog given you trouble this season? Victoire is wonderful--so realistic. Thanks for the lovely post, Monique!

    1. Pam! Just this morning a small obelisk in my herb etc garden(raised bed) was turned over so I went out..most of the dill all the tall fronds eaten and all nasturtiums in there dug up ..I did replant but heck..I spray garlic etc..I did notice one thing..this yr I have nestled nursery pots in the earth next to my tomatoes ..I water IN there so the roots will be well watered but not the leaves..this yr knock on wood he did not dig them up..could the deeply buried pots be an obstacle course?Just a thought..I think Ill be adding near dill too.Re the littles..I just want them to be encouraged..not discouraged..and a bit of applause never hurt anyone right?I mean I am a huge fan of them and tell them all the time..they see it I light up..when I see them..but some are not so lucky right? I want people to say nice things to others:) LOL.Have a nice day Pam..good eye!:)

  6. Such a beautiful time in the garden. Our peonies are just beginning to open, too. They are very late this year with our oh, so cold spring. Congratulations to Noah! It's always a joy to see our grandchildren growing and developing their talents.

  7. Things are happening so quickly now! My peonies...just opening a few days ago and then battered by the storm. Still some yet to bloom though so all is not lost! I have clematis starting to bloom too! So hot here the past 2 days. Sweltering heat. Can't do much to tidy up the garden. Your border is so pretty, even with the red poppy - LOL. The pound cake does look wonderful! I'm not sure I found Noah's artwork. Is it the watercolor of carrots, tomatoes, etc? Kudos to him for his awards!! It's wonderful when our Not So Littles find their passions and strengths. ♥♥♥

    1. It's the caricature of me:) When he was a Littler:)Not sure what his passions are..This is the first yr at 14 that he is not asking for lego for his bday. They have been his passion..Building lego..in a flash though lol you see $$$ built in an hour.It would take me forever.:) Yes every little and big can use some applause:)Some don't believe in it.I do.:)

    2. I love that caricature. ♥ It is getting harder - giftwise. Lindsay has started gifting concerts to the bigger boys. They've been to two so far (accompanied by Mom or both Mom and Dad).

  8. Three cheers for Noah. And I hear you on how fast things are. Your garlic looks gorgeous. My peonies are pretty much gone, and my neighbor's poppies. I can hardly believe it's nearly July. Everything seems to have stopped for Rick and me, but the rest of the world goes on! Three cheers on your garlic. I'm so made I forgot (or just didn't get around) to planting any in the fall. It looks gorgeous. And so does the lemon loaf! Happy week!

  11. I never have a problem sleeping and thinking about what I will bake. I am a slacker :-) The lemon cakes I would definitely love. The garlic scapes are being served in pretty much every meal I make. I had only peony bloom this year. What do we need to feed them?
