A walk to the post office.. some cuties..
I'm about 4000 steps to my post office.. about a 20 min walk or less.. ap 3 kms.. there and back.Town is just a few blocks further..
We walk by the waterfronts which I have always loved..
Some are McMansions..but very few..most are from way back and they are my faves..no real mansions on our way and I love that.
Having been a realtor for ap 30 yrs..I loved my share of waterfronts and showed many to my husband..he's an inland guy...
Once you pass the village.. the properties become even larger and so do the homes..I am fond of the smaller charming ones..
I was lucky to see so many homes here in my 30 yrs career as a realtor.I picked up ideas.. I also couldn't believe how many people never used heir gorgeous kitchens..or lit their fireplaces..(Gets too dirty..messy)..
Is this not the sweetest again? A card sent..Just because..These Signature Hallmark cards are just works of art. They pop open:)Snail Mail will never go out of style.Thank you so much.I wonder if anyone can guess who sent it?
If you want to make cute Mary Engelbreight style cherry cookies.. just make your fave cookies..cut with a scalopped cutter.. on half.. make cute little dot details and I used my macaron Wilton tip to make the holes.. the pastry chef I was inspired by is..LesAteliersToqués @lesatelierstoques on IG.
She made her own jam filling..I had some already.
I love baking what can I say..? My husband weighs ap 155 lbs.. super fit..eats everything in moderation..So I can't bake a lot..I wait until he finishes things:)
I'll be baking for the weekend.. a festive one..so not just for us.
Anyone else deeply admire and respect doctors who are human?Who care..who take the time with you?
I'm one of those people ..
I have sometimes hit the jackpot.
Many times not.
Sure makes you appreciate the gems even more.
Still painting my people.
I have quite a collection:)
I love looking back on them.
Not because they are Picassos lol but because I remember liking the photos of the people and enjoying painting them.
Have a very good week..It's brisk today..26F.
One of my paintings this week was of Jeannette..
Jeannette is a perfectly bilingual Montrealer.81 years young. She has lived in Vancouver,Paris,Boston, the South of France ,Hudson and Montreal. She loves yoga and walks every day no matter what the weather is like. She volunteers at a well known hospital on the palliative care floor. She reads to them, holds their hand, and listens attentively to their life stories. She never ever misses a day💕
Based on a true person.
@ericbranover a beautiful account I follow gave me permission to paint some of his people.
I apologize for the manner in which my texts of the stories show up but I copy and paste from Instagram..Here my background is black so my text is white..the opposite for IG.
Ted Lasso is back in town..Ill be craving shortbread again;)
I am still enjoying Daisy Jones and The Six..J not so much at all.
A Spy Among Friends..great acting but I have dozed off twice;)
Love your cherry cookies …they make me smile…have a wonderful week….love from me 🍀🐾❤️🍀ReplyDelete
You too Ria:)Delete
How handy that you live very near to your post office. The one we use is about a fifteen-minute drive away, not along a route that is walkable…no sidewalks or shoulder on part of the roadway. We enjoy looking at houses, just for ideas. Your pictures are very appealing, especially with the story you tell with them. Jeannette is almost my age!ReplyDelete
A Spring chicken then:) Can you believe we have 2 post offices? One is right in town..Not much farther:)5000 people and we have 2:)Delete
Still so much snow! Hard to believe… I guess that’s Canada for you LOL PBReplyDelete
Not just Canada..And what a great country.Delete
I am sorry for all the garbage piled up..I think I pick snow LOL..How sad though..in 2018 there was a garbage strike too..piled everywhere but certainly not this bad.I read they powder garbage bags with rat poison:( I hope no one leaves their pets out.Hopefully M Macron will remedy this.Delete
Your town looks so quaint, I like it. My town not so much. However just adjacent we have Sycamore and it is charming with a street lined with old Victorian homes many of which have been restored. They used to hold house walks for charity so I was lucky to get a peek inside of some. The house walks have stopped but now the garden walks seem to be popular and those are great fun. My goodness just think of all the "walks" you could hold. Your charming home with great wafting aromas from the kitchen, your incredible garden, your people painting. How much does a plane ticket to Montreal cost?...I'm there! Make it a good week.ReplyDelete
I have no idea:) But thank you.. Snow really isn't hell lol..It's exercise as my husband would say;) Have a great week!Delete
My almost five year old grandson was looking at my IG photos while I was trying to find an owl photo, and he saw your cherry cookies. He said "awww how cute", and then proceeded to post my living room photo without me knowing. LOLReplyDelete
Isn't that CUTEEEEE?Best story:)Delete
Such nice homes along your walking paths! And water views. My favorite! I don't envy you the snow, though. Today marks the beginning of Spring and we are so ready for her to make a big appearance! Our temps have dipped below freezing during the nights, for the past week. High time for change.ReplyDelete
Monique, I just love your painting of Jeannette--and her story is compelling. People like Jeannette make me want to be a better person. Very admirable. I think you captured her strength in your painting.
Those cookies--another work of art. Hope you have a great week!
My friend.. without trying or knowing..always makes me feel..like I could be more..:) More kind..more helpful.. walk more..She is amazing..This year's accumulation is huge..But as soon as it warms up..I catch up..Jacques calls winter exercise. That's a great attitude.I call it having time to do the indoor things I like doing.I paint far less when my gardens come calling:)Have a great week!Delete
You live is such a beautiful area! How wonderful you can walk to the village. Love your people!ReplyDelete
Thank you..Yes I think it's such a benefit!Have a great week!Delete
I have world's most compassionate, caring, skilled family doc. He's only a few years younger than I and I fear the day he decides to retire. The others on my team are capable, nice, good. But Dr. P. has such a soul and depth of understanding. If you have one like this, you are blessed.ReplyDelete
The cookies are adorable and I, like you, most appreciate the smaller, older homes. I love that you are near your town and also the water. A little bit of heaven. And you know how much I love your "people" and their stories. Are you doing Sketchbook Revival? Roisin Cure is doing a class. Happy spring!
I have not looked into it..Thank you..I should:) Mine is heaven sent too and not all have been.. hellsent more like it;)Im glad you have Dr P:)Have a great week:)Delete
I love your walk and those charming, waterfront homes. It would be lovely to sit in the back yard and look at the water every day, but then your back yard wouldn't be as private as it would be inland. I can understand J's point of view. I don't see any guesses on the lovely card and have no idea. Please tell :) Jeannette is a wonderful human being and I love your painting of her. She's just like the doctors we all wish we had. My internla medicine/general practice doctor is that kind of person. I'm lucky!ReplyDelete
Forgot to mention your adorable cookies!! They look like upside down smily faces ♥Delete
You are very lucky..we need these kind wise people in our health care:)Marie sent the card:) She's the Queen of Hallmark Signature cards..every Christmas..one arrives:) Welcome back!!Delete
What a lovely walk and the houses are just amazing! The painting of Jeannette is just fantastic, the story too...ReplyDelete
Have a great week & take care.
Titti ..Thank you! Yes I love homes with character:) Not McMansions..at all..:) I am not surprised that you do too..Have a great week!Delete
Such a lovely town you live in…charming homes, the Post Office so close! Thanks for the tour. Jeanette is an inspiration, you’ve captured her spirit in your painting…walking through snow with her bags. ♥️ Happy day to you. V. (Darling cookies!)Delete
Thank you!! Oh I know I am lucky to live here..I am always grateful..was even better when my daughter lived across the way:)Delete
ha, ha, I doze off too, thank goodness for catch up! Beautiful photos, your cheery cherry cookies look delicious.ReplyDelete
During A Spy Among Friends:) We are done so no more dozing lol..The Mayor of Kingstown I am wide awake..other end of the spectrum....All the feel good shows too.I never fall asleep:) I cry lol.Delete
I know what you mean Monique. I love our little town and we are only a block away from the river. Lots of beautiful homes small and large. We have had the same doc for 30 years and he is awesome. Always ready to listen and not just prescribe meds. Even tho my girls are adults with their own families he took on their kids and husband. My oldest was away for 5 years and when she moved back he just engulfed her and her kiddos back into the fold.ReplyDelete
Now that's a doctor:) I get that feeling that your town is so cute too!Lucky we are:)Delete
Lets see if my comment goes through this time! I seem to be having so many problems these days commenting! Your post reminds me of this song by Bette Midler, I know this town. I have always loved her and as soon as I read about your town I thought of that song! I had always wanted to come back and live in the town I am living in now. Dreams can come true. Your cookies, as always, adorable. I have always loved anything which reminds me of Mary Englebreit, and your sweet cookies are very ME. Beautifully presented as always. I am happy you liked the card. I might never get one sent to you on your actual birthday, but a just because card is special too I think! I love, love your people, but you already know that. I think you need to make a book of them. I would buy it! xoReplyDelete
