Awakenings..and earth day..and let's have tea:)

Here and there things..because I have my favorites..

It seems I don't often tire of things..we have been in this home 21 yrs..no decor has changed..just little items though the yrs that I have out because of memories and such..

But no huge decorating changes or trends..

Or gifts that mean a lot.

The gardens are just starting..but I am again thrilled with my garlic..and who knew sorrel..was a perennial.. red veined is my fave..It just adds a splash of color to dishes..

Like the bang bang shrimp and rice..baked bang bang..we're not fryers;)

Every Friday J makes la pizza..I love that.

See creature f habit again..EVERY FRIDAY.

Wish I could ditch the pizza face though:) Salt puffs my eyes up:(

I can live with it:)

Alain our son-in law has a Gozney oven..his pizzas are out of this world. We had Easter with a pizza theme. It was too much fun..

Never a thing right..Just remember they are my fun.

:)

Sometimes a set a scene just for me.J had an appointment ..it was cold outside so I decided to paint in the sunroom..I set up a pot of blooming tea..and listened to an audio book..and painted away.

That's my other fun;)

I still enjoy growing micro herbs..A shower cap speeds up the process and germination is almost 100%

I like that too.

It's the little things.

Did you watch Tiny Beautiful Things?

Heart tugging.

Everyone who has lost a mom.A dear great mom..

Will certainly shed a tear.

..Have a great weekend..  and a good week:)

Still painting..

My last one is here..

Take care...

  2. Oh Monique, I say it all the time, but your photos are a wonder! And the painting of Renaud and Colette and their story--precious. I loved reading that you and J are creatures of habit--probably because we are, too, and it's always comforting to know we're not the only ones. Often, one week ends and another begins and they look nearly identical, but it works for us. There's something almost sacred in the cherished rituals of life. Hope you're enjoying the season and not working too hard. You won't believe this, but I have a new bed of rhubarb (this is its second season to bear), and I have been covering and uncovering it as though it were a newborn babe! Normally we do not get freezing night temps, but this year is different. (You see, I have high hopes for strawberry-rhubarb pie and jam...lol). I think I'll probably have to reseed all the marigolds I planted, too, but that's okay.

    1. Oh so much so creatures of habit. They say it is good for us:)Let us hope..As time marches on and I see people around me getting older it means I am also lol.Our mirrors are different..At times we see our youthfulness..:)Not sure what that is called.
I can't believe rhubarb hates me.I'll try and take my son in laws patch..He shared a lot last yr so I should use up what I have left in the freezer.Strawb Rhubarb is the best. And I totally get the nurturing lol..I am excited for sowing marigolds..My love for them came later in life.Oh I hope I hope I can keep this plot and Home for a while. Is it normal to love a house?:)Have a great week:)!

  5. Your photos say it all, Monique. That garden is coming on -- and early, isn't it? So beautiful. I think we're a lot alike. No redecorating here (and my house badly needs an interior coat of paint). It's moving all those books and china shelves! And defiitely creatures of habit. But there's something comforting, homely, safe and enriching about that. And so not-trendy, in home style or dress. But oh, so content and happy and you sound exactly that way. I am painting today -- a house portrait for a friend we are visiting soon. I'm not sure how well it will turn out but every stroke on anything I do is good practice for the next one! Enjoy your lovely Sunday!

  6. What a contentment was waiting in this sunny morning! All the greens that I passed and admitted whooshing in the back door as I headed down to the Keurig---I think Indiana was given a SPEED Angel when gifts were being given out in Heaven---all that racing and running and the amazement that things just JUMP out of the ground, knowing that their time is shorter than their Southern cousins. The great wall of trees with their gaunt limbs that were last week grey-hazed on Monday, then green-shimmer on Wednesday, and today after the rain, and even in this 45 weather---they're a solid fence reaching above the house, in all the greens that there are.

That cold, dim yesterday set me dozing during our Jesse Stone movie, and as I lay up there in the "Girls' Room," with its own greens painted round the walls in the tendrils of a long-ago Rapunzel theme, I fell gently in and out of sleep with the strains of faraway music, then a booming bass to set your feet dancing. That went on for hours, with my waking after dark to a street filled with cars, and a two-doors-down new neighbor's yard filled with happy people and a huge white tent filled with music and light. They've been there only a couple of months, so I don't know if it was birthday, wedding or Quince, but the whole street seemed to shine with all the fun.

And your photos---I've marveled for years at whatever that magic process is that sends your photos into another realm from most---the pure light that they convey, and the colors so engaging---another reason that you've been on my favorites list for years. I love that you are so caring of the little things---a small branch, the translucent wave of a teapot of flowers, the shimmer of one sugar-crystal on a scone---all down to the very essence of the things and the sheer elements that make them beautiful. (Interruption THIS MINUTE of a knock at the door, and our 97-year-old-neighbor's daughter presenting a box of scones just brought from the bakery in Lafayette, Indianannnna.

That small view of those wee bicots in the infancy of their growth---a sermon and a song in that tee-ninecy view of a meadow great as any Herriot map. Perhaps my view is skewed to your world, for your sidebar with small vignettes and watercolors and snaps that are valued in your life set the measure, but sometimes I think of you on that small scale, with miniature dishes and fruit and your wee dustpan hanging bright---too many fairy stories midnight-written as I wait for sleep, I think.

That small view of those wee bicots in the infancy of their growth---a sermon and a song in that tee-ninecy meadowful. I shall always agree with dear Erma Bombeck---the greatest things are sometimes found when you BEND LOW

  7. There is nothing wrong with everyday habits and no change. I don't go for changing decor due toistyles.. I bought Paul a pizza oven and he has never used it. Today he suggested we go out for pizza. Homemade pizza can be so yummy. Spring is wonderful when everything wakes up. I recently saw a movie with the a woman who was named Sorrel.

    1. I am now curious re your movie:) Oh ..so this oven is a Rock Bottom? You heat it up ap 1 hr and a pizza takes but maybe 4 mins:) Delish..I am surprised he has not used it:):)I hope you went out and enjoyed:)

    2. The movie is about a serial killer, probably something you won’t like. There was twins, one named Sorrel. Yes Pizza out was great. Bummer about Paul not using his pizza oven. It is a Ooni Koda

  10. All the awakenings are so delightful, aren't they? Great photos!! I have planted my basil, parsley, and oregano indoors and they've all sprouted. I normally use a Baggie plastic bag with a twist tie over them because I don't own a shower cap :) I found another thing that works great...a plastic restaurant 'take home' container that has a clear plastic lid. Worked great for my basil! The rest I sow in store containers from sour cream, etc :-) I love little rituals and habits too. We don't have pizza night but John usually makes scrambled eggs for us on Sunday mornings. ♥ Are you kneading the pizza dough in that photo? I want some bang bang shrimp now! It looks so good and so pretty with the sorrel garnish. We just finished season one of Mayor of Kingstown with Jeremy Renner. Pretty rough but very good. Probably R rated, I would guess. Certainly keeps your attention. Written and created by Taylor Sheridan. Remember him...1883! ♥

    1. The Mayor of Kingstown:) I hope he wants to do season three after his incredible journey of healing after the accident..What a warrior. These are just micro greens for indoor food garnish.I am starting nothing except basil in water.A slack yr lol..and the yr my fave nursery closed.:( Yes those lettuce containers are great also..I wonder if my grow lights are sad lol.I made my first purchase yesterday two large ferns.. for front porch..every yr..creature of habit.Costco had lots of flowering baskets too..but it's too soon for me.J is kneading the dough..you can see his pinkie engineer ring.I do remember T Sheridan..he's a TV God.Apparently a bit too much so for K Costner..who knows..the tabloids are always so sensationalistic.I really Like JR:)

    2. I start very little indoors, usually just parsley and basil. Rooting in water is how I keep my stock replenished in summer :) I should have look further up the arm in the photo! The hairy arm is certainly not yours, nor the manicure - LOL. It will be interesting to see what happens with both series. I hope there is another season of both! I read that there may be a Yellowstone spinoff with Matthew McConaughy.

    3. That would be interesting:) All I am reading is that maybe he is related to Woody Harrelson lol...I used to find him very affected.. Dating someone.. I forget who..he once stated how they were both so beautiful..OK then..
