Ups and downs weather wise..and Follow it

We had a great weekend last weekend..  breezy but sunny and fine fine fine..My yearly cross border sleepover with my fave girls.

Silly fun.

I never feel almost 70 with them.

NEVER.

They shine a light a light in me.

We walk our feet off..we have lunch at Panera..I like it there..Dinner never the same because things change..But I loved this dinner out.

The company..the host/waiter/bartender..

I mean..reception is everything..along with interesting and kind.

I loved my getaway.

Then things spoiled and I was wrapping plants in blankets:(

But then things got a bit better again..

And then..

Enchantment happens.

And more madeleines..:)

Marbrés..marbled..oh lala que c'est bon avec un café.

That lovely bump on all of them..

And the cutest gardeners ice cubes..Roses:)

A gift.

I've been working myself to raw nails  gardening..we have flagstone paths..and every couple of yrs I attack areas..and uncover the hidden ones that are murder to uncover..Ripping out grass and dirt and weeds..but I feel good taking care of this home that is a love of ours..

They are lent to us our homes..until someone else takes over.

I will be sad.

All my gardens need new dirt..manure.. to be rid of goutweed..but it is home.

I have a couple of hearts amidst the stones.. I cleared around and added pea gravel..Those bags weigh a ton:( I scoop sitting in the dirt.I'm a fine mess at the end of the day.I am fine with that.I just don't wear pretty linen and things..

Lots of sunscreen under my blush and  etc..

I still get up and primp every day..It's a habit.

I still have lots of annuals to plant..the bicycle..around the fairy pond.. etc..but my seeds are sprouting here and there..and that thrills me.

Doesn't take much.

Have a lovely weekend..It is a long one here.

PS. Got an email from mailchimp saying it would not send out my new posts anymore?

Really?

Mail chimp has been problematic for me..so complicated and now..

I am reverting to Follow it.

You can see the first Subscribe top right side bar..

THE VERY FIRST THING ON SIDEBAR:)

If we are lucky;)We will continue to see each other:)

I'll be sad to see people go..As you can see mail chimp is no longer sending out my new posts.

The interaction I have had with Follow It has been wonderful.

So there you have it.

    1. Ooooops….I’m not Val….I’m V. — a nickname—short for Virginia. Sorry to be confusing. I so enjoy your posts, I can’t always comment but I try, wanting to say thank you …I’m not very techy…no blog of my own, just a fan. Wishing you a happy day of family and that garden, both wonderful. xo, V.

  3. First, every photo is exquisite and I'm so glad you had a wonderful time. Yes, working to the bone on that garden but I know you love it and reap the rewards of beauty all the time.

Linda helped me out with the mailchimp issue. Basic mailchimp lets you send out 1000 mails -- so if you have 100 subscribers, you can send 10 post alerts, 200, 5, etc. I'm dealing with that, too -- I gave about 200 on mailchimp and I usually write more than five. You can upgrade to a pay mailchimp -- $13/month -- and send up to 5,000 (I think). I'm giving it serious thought. If you go to your photo (upper right) and click on accounts/billing, you'll see when your month turns over (mine does on the 20th) and then your posts will be mailed again. They mail the one that you had started and posted but didn't mail, so right off the bat, you're down X-number of sends. I hope that makes sense! I am so grateful for Linda!

  4. Spring has truly arrived to your home, Monique. Your flowers and trees are gorgeous. And I love seeing your little treasures, tucked into the greenery (love that little bunny and the angel wings heart). Is there a more perfect blue than robin eggs?? I can imagine how you feel working on the flagstones. It really is hard labor some days. I've made peace with my old brick patio. After lots of hard work, I'm listening to my knees (they pitched a fit every time I worked out there). I am done...for awhile. Hope you get the chance to sit in your adirondack chair, with a cold drink, and just rest and soak in the fruits of your labor.

    1. I try and sit on my derrière..or stoop when I do the flagstones:) Knees are so fragile! Many things can pitch a fit on us right? It just feels so good to be in the garden) Lots of sunscreen on face and neck,,the rest has not been showing lol:) Yet..No hat..Have a good rest of weeks:)

I only have an I phone but my 12 year old grandson is helping me learn some photo techniques I did not know were possible. My balcony is coming along & as soon as it is perfection in my eyes I will send a photo. All the best!

  6. I absolutely love this time of year! So many wee wonders have come and gone already but new ones arriving almost every day and week. I have to much planting to do but I've been patiently waiting for the night time temps to stay close to 50F. After two chilly days today and tomorrow, the time will finally arrive!! I love all of your gorgeous photos but the Jack in the Pulpet together is so charming. If they had arms I'm sure they'd be hugging. Our girls are just the best and we are both so lucky! I'm happy you had that special outing with them again after these long, heartbreaking two years of Covid. Finally!! I did get this new post emailed from Mail Chimp. I don't understand if you have less than 500 emails they should still be sending them out! I'd love to know what the reason was that they gave you for stopping. I'm going to look into Follow It too!

  9. Yes, Ma'am, we have it! And you are so gracious to ferret out a way to keep the supply-line going into our waiting hands. And you FROZE A ROSE! What guest would not feel the sweetest welcome with such a thoughtful preparation on their behalf---my Southern Mammaw would call that largess "too much sugar for a dime," and praise your hostessing to the skies.

You really are delving to the deeps---unearthing that wing-plaque is such a treasure, and I'd be pretending it was left there by some gifted sculptor of the past, intended to be resurrected in a time when the whole world has been curled into hibernation and reserve. It looks a shield or a breastplate for girding and strapping and stepping back into the melee, or for simply stepping ON, on the way to getting things back in order.

I'm especially smiling at those baby-fist pitchers---just the most ethereally fragile things, like silk stretched too tight to bear, and those freckly goldy places like sun through the sheers. So many memories of strolling the bayou, with ranks of those amongst the ferns, the blazing-green trumpets with their honky-tonk lipsticked mouths and speckles of gold on their frilly bonnets. They've just been standing there, bright as day, like a choir just singing their hearts out, for all the ages and eons of time. They make me particularly glad and grateful for all your work to have them, to show them, and to send them right on over here to me. Amazing, every step.

    2. What a sweet thing to say---you're very dear to think so. I have, sort of---nine bound up in just a book-each-year of my blog LAWN TEA that I had printed from one of those online ads. In the times of uncertainty and things changing so fast, I just wanted to have something to hold in my hands. They're just for whoever in the family wants to have the remembrances.

  11. Oh stop complaining about the garden work and getting dirty. I know you love it. :)
I love this time of year. I make rounds every morning to see what's new and sometimes at the end of the day.
I saw a video somewhere that said to save toilet paper cylinders to make seed starters out of them. I did. I cut them in 1/2, filled with soil and used those plastic shoe boxes from the dollar store to put them in. I started calendula, zinnias, nasturtiums and straw flowers about 2 weeks ago. Many are growing nicely and soon I will plant them.

Sometimes I get lucky! Here today I have found two new posts from you! Bonus! I always enjoy your posts so much. Your photographs are beautiful and I love all that you cook and share, your art, etc. Its all very good. I call you my Susan Branch of the Great White North. I get as much joy from reading you, maybe even more. Your gardens are coming right along! You have really green fingers! xoxo
