Still Juli..;)

Nasturtiums and the first zinnia:)

The gardens are flying by..I am seeing Rudbeckias and Black Eyed Susans..That usually means August to me..

I cried for rain..well my dreams came through.

Deluge wise.

I even harvested my garlic a bit early because we had hail warnings and a tornado warning..

So I usually like to harvest after a dry spell but only rain was in the forecast except for the following day.I let it dry a bit outside that day..

Now it is tied in bunches.. curing in the she-shed..with a fan oscillating.

It's just so humid here.

I baked amazing cookies from @bakingbossbabe but her Tik tok recipe not IG.They are good.warm they are tops.

My fave daylies..Maggie..looks so happy with Nikko Blue.

Lots of birthdays in my corner of the world..

Oli will be 14..

Max turned 16

Noh..15

And Lucas will be 18:)

My oldest daughter 48..how did all this happen.

I love this pic Lucas' mom took of him..

He ..after yrs..of being a little camp kid..to becoming a camp counselor..has now become a co-ordinator.

Summer job..perfect for college.

This car he is driving was mine..passed down to his mom.

A Volks Cabriolet 1986.

They love it..

Anyway this is Lucas driving home from work with his mom in the car with him.

Look at his arms:) Love marks ..hearts etc..from the Littles at camp.

I have his mom's permission to post..

He is so loveable :)

They all are.

Lucas now has his permanent on his own driver's license.

How time flies.

  2. Your garden looks lovely. I am fond of blues and yellows together. My Balconville is hanging on. Am learning what plants not to select for next year. Had to replace the New Guinea Impatiens. Not much left in the garden centers so I chose Vinca. Lantana growing like gang busters and attracting humming birds, The other day even a rare Moth Hummingbird. He wasn’t very cute. Dahlia is full of lush green leave an not a single bloom. Your grandson is a very handsome young man. My two will be coming to play with me (yes, they still are young enough to play!!) this weekend. Collin will be 13 and I can’t stand it! Have a good week.🌞

  3. Your flowers seem to glow! Yes, Maggie and Nikko are a perfect pair. What a great garlic harvest. It's hot and humid here, too. My Rudbeckias started blooming over a week ago. I wonder what's going on? Your boys are growing up so fast--young men, really. I'm impressed that Lucas wanted to work with children. Not easy. I bet they adore him. I can almost taste those cookies...Beautiful post, Monique. Have a wonderful weekend!

  5. Oh, the bountiful harvest of garlic!! What lovely dishes you'll create all next Winter. And then that handsome palate-cleansing pile of cookies---I've never seen such tempting perfection.

But my heart belongs to that one little bright zinnia, holding his own in that delicate covey of beautiful girls in their formal gowns-----Big Ole Bubba-Flowers, zinnias, in their stiff, Raleigh-ruffed gaudy colours and a hardiness to the petals and wiry stems that will outlive many a graceful foxglove and tissue-curled snapdragon. . They have an almost-cardboard or crisp plastic feel to them, with a suede side to the petals that takes them into almost artificial territory, straight out of the dirt. One packet of seeds can provide a drab yard with every colour there is, and they're always the centerpiece in my dreams of Southern childhood.

We haven't had the fierce heat of most folks this year, but this reminiscence takes me right back to a sweltery Delta day. You do beat all for kindling memories.

  6. Your garlic harvest has come! You love garlic and it loves you back :) Maggie and blue are perfect together and it looks like Lucas is perfect behind the wheel and at camp. Lindsay turns 40 in September and Mack 14! I know, how did this happen - LOL. Tempus fugit too fast! Mack has become an "Explorer" at camp. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't become a camp counselor too. Something about the first born, I think! It's wonderful on a resume for universities too! Hot temps headed our way next week. Ick!

  7. We live so far apart and yet we share the same worlds, gardens, baking and grands. Ours are 15yrs and almost 18yrs. He graduated this year. I was so proud I almost burst. I always say the sun rises and sets on the grandkids. Our boy is not only handsome- he’s a ginger!! I know, how lucky are we. Happy gardening , we’re in severe drought in BC with unbearable heat. My dad was a real ginger:) Also..
We had drought beginning of summer where grass was jute. Now it looks lush and thick..truth be told mostly clover that's what we sow..It tolerates drought and doesn't need constant cutting. We can't and don't use pesticides..so it works for us:)I love this life:) Provence would be the icing on the cake..fluffy beautiful icing;)Have a great weekend.

  9. It is a wonderful thing to see your grandchildren growing up and becoming responsible young adults. Lucas seems such a one, and so handsome also. The hearts tell a tale. His campers love him. Your nasturtiums are beautiful. Maybe next year I will plant some of those. I have petunias and geraniums in my window boxes, such a disappointment. My window boxes never seen to do well for some reason. That's me! Black thumb! xoxo
