Oh lala a GREENish CHRISTMAS.

I really don't adore green Christmases..and we are having one:(Well we got a touch..hoping some of it stays..here in the country our chances are better than in the city.

Grateful to have more additions here..every yr..I am lucky enough to receive ornaments from afar and they grace our tree..

A whole family of mice live here now..when I put them away..I will take a photo:) A newer Frida lives here also.

A new book arrived..that taught me how to make latkes and a delicious cabbage..

Two beautiful aprons..

Such thoughtfulness.

I love looking at past Christmas creations:)This year..just an assortment of cookies as my daughter has made sooo many desserts..a big one would be a waste.

Ran out of pre-printed cards I had made with a snowman I painted..but the quality was not good..so I started painting some and some will be for next yr..God willing.

One treat that always must be featured..are Auntie Bernice's Shortbreads..Made in an 8 x8 pan.

I wanted to make them in half batches for one pan.. and ended up making 5 pans lol..

I have revised the recipe..here is the final one I think.

An 8x8 pan.

I put parchment on bottom.

Preheat oven to 300 F.

2 sticks softened butter( no such thing as unsalted here)

1/2 cup icing sugar

1  1/2 cup flour

 1/4 cup rice flour

1/4 cup cornstarch.

Place all in your KA..it will all blend and pull away from bowl.

Spread in pan..push it in uniformily.

Prick with tines of fork all around and prick all over.

Bake ap 55 mins.. keep an eye..every oven is different.

You don't want to see a dough line once baked which could appear in middle..they must be cooked through:)

I thought I was making a cute gingerbread man wreath gleaned on IG..but as soon as I raised it..the men wanted no part in staying stiff..I had to glue some together..so it defeated the purpose and became a flatlay lol:)

Can you believe those copper color vessels are La  Fermière yogurt pots? I lugged blue ones back from Provence and every time Sarah..discovers new colors she sends me some:) I have beautiful colors..A real collection. These were perfect for this..My green pines are so this holiday also.

I loved this card from last yr.. this yr was a snowman but the printing was sad compared to Costco..
One of my favorite Paris People..
Santa..
I leave you with him..

with my wishes for a safe  and happy holiday season..
I know it's not easy for many.

  1. What a good idea to paint a card and have it printed! We usually have used a family photo but it's been hard to get everyone in one place this last year with far flung jobs and so on.

Thank you for sharing your lovely photos too!

  2. No snow here for Christmas, but that's not as unusual as it is for you. Still, there will be merriment and feasting no matter the weather.
    Lovely images of the season.

  3. We always hope for a White Christmas and like you have only a dusting of snow. I'm glad our ski resorts make their own snow now because Mother Nature must have gotten tired :-) Love the Santa you did this year, and all your felts. Wishing you and safe and happy holiday season. xx

  4. Such lovely photos of your Christmas ornaments and fantastic baking. Green and wet Christmas here. There is no lack of Christmas spirit here…it’s filled with sharing, kindness, and too many treats left at my door step. I will be spending the day at my daughter’s decorating sugar cookies with my two wonderful grandsons.
Monique, I wish you and your family a joyful Christmas and a healthy and happy 2004!🎄

  6. Ah Monique, I keep looking at every detail on your beautiful pictures and scrolling back and forth so as not to miss a single thing. Your baked goods are absolutely perfect and your painting charms! Your posts are always such a lift to my spirit. It looks like we will be having a green Christmas, too, but just seeing all your ornaments and baked creations helps to welcome the holiday. Today our kids are coming to our home to celebrate. It's a special day because it's hubby's and my anniversary (so thankful he is home and recuperating!), plus, we celebrate our son coming to our family 43 years ago. He was 9 years old and in foster care with nowhere to go just two days before Christmas 1980. I still remember the phone call from social services asking if we had room for one more child. Little did we know what a gift he would be as we fell in love with him and adopted him as soon after. Life is hard, but it's so very precious, too. Our faith carries us from moment to moment, day to day, and throughout life.

Monique, thank you for sharing yourself and the wonderful work of your hands and heart, with all of us. I wish you and your family a very blessed Christmas. (Hoping for snow!!)

    1. Pam you made me cry..not dripping tears but puddling in the eyes one..:)What a lucky family:)All of you. What a turnaround from a couple of weeks ago.You do have so much to be thankful for and celebrate ..in more ways than one..I lay in bed last night and thought about what I was grateful for in life..a car never entered my mind.. fancy shoes.. diamonds..lol none of that. You know what I am grateful for.I was watching The Crown last night on my own..epi 9 maybe of the last season..I have my opinions on everyone and everything but when William showed up on the balcony for the Queen's Jubilee and she looked up at him..that look.I know it:) That touched me.
Happy Anniversary ..to you both..to your son coming into your family..and seeing family.Meilleurs Voeux!

And of course your ornaments are exquisite. I especially love the felts and the mice. And then there is the art, which always fills me with joy. No matter what your day was like outside, inside I am sure it was as beautiful as these photos! I've been off blog for a few days but send all good wishes for the rest of the Christmas season and the new year. Onward, my friend!
