Spring ..is slow this year..But definitely starting to show it's very pretty face..
Indoor tulips ..mine are just poking out of the earth, these were a sweet gift..
My garlic always thrills me..The first to show up for the garden party..
I started my over wintered dahlia tubers indoors..not all. but a few..
Below these are in my sunroom..LOL I could move all the furniture out and start all my dahlias..as it is I have many plants in there..so not much room for dahlias..
So that's pretty much what we have been up to..getting the gardens cleaned up yet again.. staring seedlings indoors..going to a CoOp to by Dietomaceous earth for pest control in the gardens..
We are celebrating Easter and two son-in-laws birthdays this coming weekend..
I did bake J a small vanilla cake ..most of the baking will be this weekend..
Sowed Sweet Peas..(Fingers crossed Susan:) )
Do you watch this most delightful show?
I love..loved it so much ..all seasons..but perhaps this latest was my favorite.
Connor..Georgie..
Madison,Tyler..
Pari..
ETC..
Their families.. all the other couples.HEARTWARMING.
I watched this series on my own.I have watched all 3 seasons through the years.
Their lives continue on Tik Tok I just happened to find them as James spoke out against Mr Kennedy and his stance on autism.
We also watched..
This is not for the faint of heart. It is a hard series to watch. The graphic depictions of mercenaries being so very cruel to POWs are extremely hard to watch.
Acting is great, story also. But be warned. It is dark.
Our favorite Call The Midwife is back,as charming and tenderhearted as ever.
Always a disappointment to see some go..But new ones grace our screens in the cast.
I love the friendships..the stand by me..the faithful..Every single episode..For years.
An affair of the heart.
Have a lovely upcoming weekend..
Take care..
Best always,Me.
I have to add this..
Unbroken..Netflix..the story of a family of 7 that survived the holocaust.
Your cake looks gorgeous. Call The Midwife is a favourite of mine,
ReplyDeleteSuch a feel good show..Tears and smiles:)
DeleteI read the book a while ago - The Narrow Road.... - excellent. I think because it shows how absolutely silly war is. On both sides. I love Call the Midwife. So well done. My brother was delivered by a midwife, on her bicycle, at home in the UK. He was five years younger. I remember it well. Have a lovely time with your family this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI have been nosing around the nurseries. Bought a new pair of goat skin gloves. So it starts ... 🌱🌷🩷
So it starts..Well said.. I think 2 of J's siblings were born at home also:). Things were so different.I think watching moves that are hard to watch..only strengthen you hope that one day wars will stop.Once and for all..Have a good weekend:)
DeleteWhat a joy it is to finally welcome spring! This week, I was able to put away my sweats. Yay! It sounds like you have been very busy getting your gardens/yard ready for planting. I'm planning to pick up a few tomato plants today. I'm silly. I might have to keep them in the garage for a week or so, but I fear they'll be "picked over" if I don't buy them quickly. Silly, I know. Those tulips are stunning and the cake you made J looks delicious. Fingers crossed for your dahlias. We celebrated Easter with the littles last weekend and it was chaos on steroids. They really are into celebrating, and we all had fun watching them. May you and your family have a blessed, fun Easter and birthday celebration!
ReplyDeleteChaos on steroids:) LOLOLOL..I remember..Things are still fun with them but the innocence of youth is gone..To everything there is a season..Sigh..even for us.
DeleteI still have my flannels and leggings lol..Warm weather is taking it's time..and so windy..
I am like you and see garden offerings and am holding out..I bet not for long;) I hate the harden off time with seedlings in and out of the garage instead of In and Out of the Garden like Sarah Midda:) Bon weekend!
Monique, I just wanted you to know that "Anonymous" was me, Pam. I've never had my name deleted before, but I remember times when other followers mentioned it. Hope you're having a good weekend!
DeleteI instinctively know when it's you Pam..If only you could read what The wicked witch of the West Anonymous comments on my blog..you would be appalled at the nature of her comments. My husband..cannot believe people troll blogs to be nasty.:(Honestly they roll off my shoulder now..and I do imagine.. a crochety old witch at the end..I know YOU now:)
DeleteYou've had such a long, hard winter. I'm glad to see your earth coming back to life! that garlic looks terrrific and all the blooms! And that cake is simply wonderful. I'm so glad the Midwives are back. That and All Creatures are my favorites!
ReplyDelete2 of our faves also! My taste is so eclectic though..From happy to dark:) Have a great weekend!
DeleteHERE YOU ARE!!! Fresh as all those rootlings and cuttings and bulblings in pots and bags. How well I remember Cold Frames and Hot Frames, and all the tiny seedlings and sprouts in my Mammaw's garden preparations. She "lived by the clock and the calendar," and even in those hot Mississippi Springs, when we could wear shorts and go barefoot some Februaries, nary a Big Boy or Early Girl tomato plant went into the ground until the Saturday after Good Friday. I tried to reason the disparity of the years, when sometimes March, sometimes April, but it was an inflexible rule, written in the Farmer's Almanac (remember the year they predicted snow in July for a joke, and it DID?). Just by happenstance, I spent a few minutes this morning on Amazon, sending a requested National Geographic Almanac to our teen birthday Grandson, along with a regular Farmer's, just for a joke, and perhaps a little history.
ReplyDeleteI simply marvel at all your dedication to your garden---I hoped I'd someday get my Grandmother's Thumb, but my Kitchen gene is the stronger, and I now fear/rejoice that my long days of hoeing and picking peas and beans and squash and okra, then canning or blanch-and-freezing way into the night are of the past.
And Tuesday afternoon, long predicted as sunny, was our "picture day," with the little family next door stepping over to our lawn at five, when the light was so lovely and the shadows on the grass. My little companion arrived with four dresses, to be sure she got the right effect, (she settled on two, one over the other) and her little braids over the shoulder were so true to the re-creation, I was almost taken away by a tear or two, right then. As soon as Leah crops a few of these pictures to see if they're worthy, I'll send for you to choose. I'm still feeling the anticipation of a child's Christmas, with your offer and the thought of the honor.
So glad to see your GREEN---Have a wonderful weekend with your Birthday folk---we're having our Easter Lunch Sunday, postponed from last week. Joyeux Printemps!! (finally)
Rachel..I am excited to paint you both! Thank you for taking the time to set it all up..in such a natural way.RE gardening.I am certain i Have harmed..joints..muscles etc..with my yrs of hard gardening and helping build things..But had I not..what would my passions be now?:) Painting is my Dolce Vita.Happy to try what you sent me..It is perfect!
DeleteWelcome spring, so nice to see some blooms after a cold winter. The cake looks delicious. How wonderful to recommend some shows to watch. We are having a few rainy days this weekend, so it’s a perfect time to get cozy and watch tv.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy some:) I cannot wait to pick flowers to honor your thoughtfulness towards me:)
DeleteComing back for a moment to thank you for the veritable BLAST of pink tulips which have brighted me for two days, now. The color is absolutely drinkable, like the most delectable punch there could be. And those flowers are simply giving their all to the day, spreading and stretching through the light---I love the soft swell of tulips, the swelly-belly ones especially, for they are so endearing, like sweet cuddly animals on stems.
ReplyDeleteA field of tulips stretching toward the horizon is a majestic, powerful thing, but these pink ones now, presumably tamed, but riotously reaching their prime, are a feast in a vase. They know who they are; they may sway a little in a breeze or nod merrily in a fluster of air. Maybe they'll take a ladylike curtsy from their perch in the Waterford, but tulips bow to nobody. Thank you for this indelible, accessible gift for anytime I need it.
Thank you for your gift of writing! What a delicate talent you have..Thank you Rachel:)
DeleteSpringtime is here! Lilacs and appleblossom! May is the best month I think...
ReplyDeleteI must take a look at that Unbroken on Netflix.
Have a happy Sunday now...
Titti
I hope May is great because April has been a bust:( Chilly..rainy..snowy..:(Have a happy Sunday Titti:)
DeleteCongratulations on your election, looks like y'all made a good choice.
ReplyDeleteThank you.I am happy as he had my vote.:)
DeleteLOVE spring but LOVE autumn too this IS lovely
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Gloria:)
DeleteFingers crossed for your sweet pea seeds! I started mine indoors and just planted them out next to the pool fence last week. Covered with Dollar Store wire mesh waste baskets - just in case, LOL. I warmed my dahlias up in baggies and when they starting to show a sprout I put them in trays on their sides. I have lots of sprouts coming up and am going to try cuttings this year, just a couple that I wouldn't mind having two of in the garden. ♥ We still don't have Netflix but excited to see the new Call the Midwife!! I didn't see it in our new episodes so must have missed it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all of your viewing suggestions. I will look them all up. I LOVE LOVE Love on the Spectrum. I have watched every season as well. I hold a special interest in it because of my daughter and her husband. Her father would not let them get married for years and years. When they finally did it was a beautiful thing. 14 years later and they are still doing very well. Such a cute couple. Everyone deserves love in their lives. As always all that you have shared is beautifully presented. I love it all. xoxo
