A different kind of soul food~How nice was this?
My husband saw a program with someone making poached eggs..the right way w/ vinegar etc..
One Tuesday.. he said why don't I make us some for lunch..
And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.
Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Funnily enough..I find this quote suits this soul food:)
He made them perfectly..he picked the plates..did the plating.. All I did was take a few photos and enjoy.
What a lovely little pretty delicious treat.See why I say they are the best?

The perfect breakfast. Jacques did good.
ReplyDeleteI always add a little vinegar to the water when I make Moe his poached eggs.

I have done them with vinegar forever but have no idea where it came from or why it works... must check Harold McGee for that one. How sweet your fella makes you eggs... lovely idea. Poached eggs on well-buttered toast are the best.
ReplyDeleteYes, he is a Keeper ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think I see a touch of Nana on that plate...a beautifully presented plate full of Love. I don't like poached eggs, but I think I'd find a way to eat them if they were given to me this way!
It's the best because J's the best and a keeper also :) I love poached eggs on toast! What a beautiful presentation ♥.
ReplyDeleteI am sure to share your comments with him:)
ReplyDeleteMy dad made french fries.. in grease..and a BBQ chicken on the BBQ which was pitch black when we ate..I loved him.. with all my heart..but a chef ..he was not..It is so nice Jacques enjoys the kitchen. He'll love your words.
Have a great day~
Don't you just love husbands that cook? Somehow food always tastes better when someone else makes it.
ReplyDeleteStunning presentation.

Belle photo d'oeufs pochés... Dans une salade de mâche ou de pissenlit avec des petits lardons fumés c'est extra!

Poached eggs on buttery slices of toast all cooked to perfection and presented on a pretty plate with the daily newspaper. What a lovely treat!
ReplyDeleteI do mine with vinegar also. Your plate is gorgeous. What a nice meal!
ReplyDeleteWe are fortunate to have husbands who are comfortable in the kitchen and enjoy being there! What a lovely meal. I have never used vinegar when making poached eggs...I have learned something new!
ReplyDeleteJacques is a keeper, a gem. :) And he sure has what it takes to be a top food blogger! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh Monique, how lucky you are, a man who cooks and can ake it look good on a plate! My dad never cooked. All he could make was fried eggs. My Todd cannot cook either, although he can make some pretty good scrambled eggs on toast. What is it about men and eggs??? XXOO

I know J can cook more than eggs, but eggs seem to be a man's dish. My Dad is definitely an expert at it :-)
