Dulce De Leche Bundt..and this and that~and this and that..

I finally..purchased a Wannabe Heritage Bundt pan..in silicone..and took this Dulce De Leche bundt cake for a test drive in it..
The pan workes great!I am fond of all my silicone..  a charm to use!
However I overbaked my cake as you can see by some of the ends..
Could it be the caramel in it?
Not sure..but the middle wasn't firming up..I kept putting it back in..and out and in..
Anyway flavor is good..But I would have liked it a bit less baked.
Next time convection all the way~:)
I want to make 2 small cakes and some mini fairy cakes apart from cookies for Easter..Painted..and not..
One in my mini heritage..and the other in a new mold..
Not sure which cake to bake..  I have my thinking cap on..
I loved the lamb..from Susan Branch..
The Hen Pie..that one was hens pie:)

I think I will do the mini Heritage in a lemon type..and the new molds..in a coconut type..
Tap tap tap..

We found figs .. from Turkey I think ..in our local grocery store..so I made a few salads that we like with them.. and blueberries ...and that dressing of Chris's we love so much..
Delish!

I have been reading a lot..It has been an unusually cold winter..
Warming up though!
So I have been reading..

I think I am getting difficult w/ time..
I have read books that have gotten rave reviews..and I am looking inside me to actually be able to give a review..I don't dislike it..but I don't love it..and I don't even like it~
So I say nothing..
My mom always told me if you have nothing nice to say..say nothing.

I have loads of books I have loved..
But lately?
Not so sure..
Anyways..
We Were Liars worked for me..it did not work for  some..when I read the Goodreads reviews..but I kept turning the pages late into the night.
I like that.
I crave books that keep me reading..So many do not.
I have started testing new wafer papers..as Fancy Flours ..the shipping to Canada is not even thinkable..
Shipping from the UK ..is doable..
Check EBAY  ..

You can even Waterlogue♥

I ♥ those Cath Kidson lookalike wafer papers for cookies.
Lots of links I know..
But I learn from links:)
If not for something one of you have said..or showed..or shared..
I would have never known.Even Waterlogue!
Merci beaucoup pour tout!

  3. I've had the Heritage on my wish list, but haven't added it. It's so elegant! The salad with the figs and strawberries is beautiful and refreshing. I like a salad with berries and figs and citrus.
Yes, amazing what we learn from each other. I'm hooked on Waterlogue App. I've not tried the wafer papers for cookies. Your cookies are adorable!

  8. I have been coveting that beautiful cake pan for the longest time, it makes the prettiest cakes! I love having stuff like blueberries and figs in the middle of winter, not all the time but just for something special. You've got me ready to make a jar of that dressing, I'd kind of forgotten about it, thanks for the reminder - and for the link :)

  9. Ooh, I'll start with that beautiful fig and blue cheese salad and then a slice of your gorgeous cake. My mother taught me the same thing and I often find some novels not as good as others do. A friend loaned us a book he said was about Provence. And the part about Provence was great, but the rest of the book, ugh to the point of almost being revolting. Now we have to return the book to him and pray he doesn't ask me how I liked it. Sometimes I'm too honest for my own good. Think I'll channel my mother on this one. Hope you have a great week Monique.

My fave Provence books..are still Peter Mayles..they were my first:)
I'll never forget Jacques wanting to find the town where he lived when we were there..We have the old cassette tapes of him..
Now I am curious about that book Sam;)

  10. Oh, to enjoy that beautiful salad followed by a slice of your cake! I've only tried a Longhorn silicone baking pan... Once for a groom's cake and once for my oldest grandson's first birthday. They do work very well. I think I might need one like yours... that design is most attractive. Monique, I've been pondering why I can't seem to find a "good book" as I've gotten older. I read VORACIOUSLY for most of my life (as a child I would check out the maximum from the library each week and would be ready to swap them out our next visit). I may need to try We Are Liars. blessings to you, sweet lady ~ tanna

  11. Both the salad and the bundt cake look so tasty. Will have to give Chris's dressing a try. I have only one silicone pan. It is a financier pan and although I love it, my tin molds are so much prettier. I know what you mean about books. I just took an armful load of books back to the library because I could not finish even one. Good books are a treasure.

  13. Whichever cake you choose, I'm sure it will be a beautiful Easter for your family! I remember your beautiful lamb cake and the hen pie :) I think my boys would love a lamb cake! I have to see if I can find an inexpensive mold - I wonder if it comes in silicone? I'm not sure if it was last year I made the chocolate Rice Krispies treat hen :) They loved it. Easter is coming soon - I'd better put my thinking cap on too! Beautiful salad, beautiful everything :) Would you believe I just read The Secret Garden? I had never read it before and needed a book for our travel time last month. Got it on the Kindle app for my iPad and I loved it!

  23. I have had that problem too with cake pans. I bought many from Martha Stewart's catalog years ago and always the same happened. Burnt thinner parts and not done in the middle. I am like you. Books are hard to recommend as like perfumes. What one loves another does not. Looks like you're figuring out how to use the new pad and waterlogue.

I am reading "The Boys in the Boat" by Daniel James Brown and it is excellent. History with a flourish. I say I am going to read a chapter before bed and up reading 2 or 3. P.S. 28. So pretty Monique! I'll have to check the market for figs. The cake looks divine as well. I'm with you on the books.
