Lemon~Lemon Verbena~Zucchini~and...

Saw a bundt/heritage cake that struck my fancy here..and well ..so I made it..I added a smidgen of chopped Lemon Verbena because I grow it..
I brought in my last summer's LV..and I kid you not..w/ numerous clips..that plant was 6 ft tall and had a 3 ft girth..it got so big..it lost it's form..stamina etc..so bye bye..
I will bring in this years' and try and contain it to stay bushy and shorter..
the scent when it brushes your hand is amazing.Great indoor plant .
Lucas said the cake was great..which is suprising because it's not chocolate..or a pinata..but it is great and it is pretty.
We were able to go onto our son-in-laws boat..and the skies turned very bad..so we couldn't sail away with me..  but tried again the next day../night..this is after work for them..
even the time we spent NOT going out was pretty amazing.
I have always loved the water..no one was there..  it was a Monday..stormy skies..  perhaps one gentleman came to do some maintenance..but apart from that..personne.
I walked to the beach..the kids have a pool there..a park..and look at those views..
the names of the various boats are so quirky and fun too;)
So we took a raincheck and aimed for Tuesday..same time..  guess what? The skies opened up and it poured..

only F would call..I answered the phone..and he was singing :"Tomorrow..tomorrow..is only a day awayy"..anyways he said..:"don't give up yet"..what an optimist I thought:)....at 6 the sun showed it's pretty little face..partially..and we headed back out to the yacht club.
There was a small race about to happen..

F took us..to the middle of the lake away from the race..and we just moored there..eating dinner on the boat..
my point and shoot comes in very handy on a boat..tnks again A~

I always said I don't have a bucket list..people have often said..:"this is my bucket list..I want to do this" etc..etc..
I never had one...I have always just felt satisfied that I have lived what I should be living..
...but if I had one..I tell ya..that (those) night(s) would be on it.
Back to the dock at dusk..candle..  blanket..3 of my Littles..

Je trouve cela tellement ZEN..sur l'eau..un monde à part.
Notre capitaine..vous le voyez..:) the 10th photo.

Bon weekend...~

  5. I'm with you. When I travel, I find myself waiting to go back home. It is the place I want to be. I am also a water baby and really just love the outdoors, though not sure I'd enjoy the desert much. Guess you grow where you are planted. I would also love that bundt cake - love everything lemon.

  7. Monique, your words and images take me to happy thoughts of our days spent on our Hyacinths for the Soul. Beautiful times, indeed! We often went out after work to get in a few hours on the lake, ending with a sunset dinner on the boat. I miss those times, though the memories bring such joy. Thanks for sharing!
I need to get a lemon verbena!

  8. What a wonderful sweet sentiment - no bucket list, no wishing for things that might have been, you are a blessing! Love the cake, the handsome young men and the dream of dinner on a sailboat. If I had a list, that would be on it too.

    1. It's funny I don't think they realize their luck..it is natural and normal..they are young to realize what being lucky is:)But when we sat by the candlelight..snuggled..I aksed each one to say what they loved most about their summer(Busy) and they all found their fave things and said them. They have gratitude in their hearts I know it;)
Things have changed so much..I have been Pinning Barbies of my youth..the ones I did have..one/wher outfits..and the onses I didn't..

You didn't have collections of barbies back then..if you were lucky and I was..you had a Barbie a Ken.. really lucky add Midge..Skipper and Scooter:)

  12. It sounds like Bliss Monique. Nirvana. Serendipity. I love your little Captain! He looks ready for an adventure! I really admire how you make the most out of all of your days and moments with your family. You are so very blessed. The cake is beautiful. I love, LOVE that pan. It is on my wish list. One day . . . it is nice to have a list of things you want to do/achieve before your life ends, but also I think people can dwell too much on that and lose the preciousness of the present. I try to be present in each of my days because they are a "present!" I feel you do the same. Love and hugs! xoxo

Marie that's my knockoff pan.it might be a smidge..smidge less volume..but it's silicone and both J and I are amazed how it comes out like a charm..this cake is baked at a lower temp and the pan loves that..also look at the ings..icing sugar instead of reg.sugar..different..good.
Believe me I am very guilty of thinking f the past and wondering about the future..xx

  15. Your cake looks lovely, Monique, especially made in that pretty pan. I am always looking for a new recipe that uses zucchini. Weather is starting to turn here too, and a shower can come up at a moments notice. How wonderful to have special time with family, especially on the water. Wonderful photos too.

One with the water and wind :) Not fun in a storm though! I'm glad the weather broke and you were able to hit the high seas. Always cool out on a boat and so nice to cuddle with your Littles ♥

  19. Oh, that beautiful cake! And I think you told me where to get the mold - on Amazon? I think it would be wonderful to be tucked up in a harbor on a boat for a night or two, but rough seas don't agree with me:) I'm so glad you finally, finally had sunny skies and no rain! I envy you your verbena - will definitely try your suggestion . Have a wonderful weekend!

The boat outing looks like fun, especially with the Littles. Those clouds so look angry. I am sure dining on the boat with family is precious!

  23. What fun! And what gorgeous water shots. I gave up on a bucket list. It made me feel very unaccomplished. I still feel though that life is a journey and one never knows where you might end up! I have a lot of lemon verbena and always forget to use it. Thanks for reminding me!
