One of my favorite molds is that heart silicone mold from Ikea..It is so pretty..turquoise..and works like a charm.
I wanted to make a pound cake to serve with fresh fruits and CF..
I found this recipe online..for A Million Dollar Poundcake..
I used half the recipe and it's it's a perfect size for the mold.
Look at the details..
I did have to cook as long as for the full recipe..it bakes at 300..
it is dense..and very flavorful.I didn't put almond extract..just my Italian vanillin powder and a touch of the same line's baking powder..but a smidge..the recipe does not call for any,but I love what it does..
my daughter made it the next day and she is keeping the recipe in her keeper file also..she bought whipped cream and fruit..it's a great cake too add to..like a pound cake normally is..
I had decided to add Lego frozen yogurt/chia seed treats for Noah..I got the cute idea from Sue..at the View from Great Island..it was plain greek yogurt..I need to add a dash of honey for him next time;)
Noah came for dinner..that's why I made it..he is our shy..reserved
Little as you can see;)
He knocked my socks off doing a Rubik's Cube side:)
Oy my voice... and I was kidding when you hear me say:"but you have to go much faster Noah":) I can't line up any..
Anyway..he's so funny..♥And very good at doing one side..
We watched the last Star War movie..where Harrison Ford..Hans Solo...dies.:(
Not a fan of Star Wars..at all..but he and his mom love it.
Ah, you're going to get spoiler comments for that last bit! I've never been into those movies either for whatever reason.
ReplyDeleteLovely cake, and so nice to hear your voice! And your "Little" is an imp in the best way, it seems. :)
:)
DeleteSuch a sweet comment!
He wasn't excited at all about the cake was he? :) Such an expressive face. You have so much fun with your boys Monique and I know they love being at your house!
ReplyDeleteHe is definitely the foodie of them all:)
DeleteAnd loves his cooking classes!
He is such a gorgeous boy! The pic of him holding the cake looks like the cover of Bon Appetit! That cake looks amazing...fabulous mold! I loved hearing your voice...so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBisous xoxoxoxo
He is such an expressive boy:) Thank you Linda:)♥
DeleteQuel joli gâteau, délicieusement garni !
ReplyDeleteJ'adore les fruits frais comme déco..faut s'entendre,,frais..de l'épicerie en ce moment;)
DeleteThe pound cake looks and sounds wonderful! I never was any good at the Rubics Cube...
ReplyDeleteMe neither Penny..trust me:)
DeleteIt's a great cake! A good foundation:) Sturdy!
That pound cake sure has a great name, it's description matches it perfectly! Of course it must be delicious! What a handsome and smart guest!!
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful day, sweet friend.
Nancy
Our little miracles:)♥
DeleteYou too..
I'm going to have to try one of the silicone cake molds. A few people said they didn't care for them but your heart cake is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteKaren..I have not met a silicone pan I have not liked:)
DeleteTruly!
Your heart shaped cake is so pretty, especially topped with fresh fruit. I never was good at Rubik's Cubes.
ReplyDeleteMe neither.. a better baker than cuber I am:)
DeleteOh my that takes me back to my son & daughter with their Rubik's cubes back in the 80's , and now my grandsons, I never even managed one side, & Star Wars was never my thing either. Love the cake using the heart mold. I haven't yet tried silicone cake molds, except for cup cakes. I don't make cakes that often as it's usually me who eats the most. It happens every year about this time, I start cutting down on sweet things, my biggest failure, so that I can wear /squeeze into my favourite summer clothes. So all I'll be doing is looking at your recipes, The heart cake full of fresh fruit looks very tempting,
ReplyDeleteno wonder Noah is so full of joy & smiling. Like your alphabet boys, each one of my grandsons are so different, which makes each one special. The younger ones can bake cakes & biscuits. The older ones can make a good meal. So different from when I and my husband were young. Enjoy these special times.
All different you are right!!
DeleteLove them all..
I find chips hard to resist:) Sweets..I can taste test and I am done..
Jacques and my family..are the ones I bake for..thank goodness they like a little sweet..
or what would I bake?:)
Today we had bus duty and I brought stre bought cookies..I said :"I figured you must be tired of my baking.."..No nana.. we like your baking"..so chocolate chip cookies are on their menu for tomorrow.
After school those boys are starving:)
Nice Mon he does seem shy...cute Noah...I can't hear your voice it's blank!
ReplyDeleteI loved the picture of Oli it's beautiful...those freckles..you do have beautiful grandchildren and life💙💙💙💙
So do you:)
DeleteWhat a beautiful and delicious-looking pound cake! So pretty with all of the fruit on top but even pretty without...the details are lovely. The photo of Noah with the surprised look on his face is adorable! I was always frustrated by Rubik's Cube and envied people who could master it. Bravo, Noah! I'm glad he let you video him and loved hearing your voice :) The yogurt and chia Legos are so cute (I bought a mold too after seeing Sue's).
ReplyDeleteAs Nana's we know a good thing when we see it:) Sue's Lego mold:)
DeleteNoah is so comfy in front of a camera:)
Susan..I saw very cute Sprinkle Bakes cookies w/ the Lego mold:),albeit plus one this nana didn't get..

DeleteSmart nana.
DeletePas moi.
Love the look on his face...such excitement for the dessert! The video was so cute. He persevered and got it.... You are so wonderful with your grandsons. What memories you are creating!!
ReplyDeleteHe did persevere:) He is handy with his hands:) Great at drawing too:)Thank you Kate.
DeleteSuch a cute young man.
ReplyDeleteThe cake looks wonderful and I know that it is so good. Wish I had some right now.
Have a great day.
Mary
You too Mary!
DeleteWhat a little charmer and I LOVED hearing your voice. Just as I imagined it! Noah is so adorable. How very blessed you are to spend such moments with your grandchildren. That cake looks amazing! I am not surprised he is so excited about it! I really need to make a trip to Ikea. Perhaps I can tempt Todd to go someday soon. We will see. Have a great week. It is cool here, but the sun is shining, so that cannot be a bad thing! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI kea is one of those stores I seem to go to once every 3 years..I think you can buy it online too..that's where I first saw it..and then, well we were going in that area..so I picked it up..it would be great when you are having ppeople for dinner..makes a lot:)Or not:)
DeleteI count my lucky stars to have the chidren near by..I know that in most cases..well..it's not the case..
I wish yours were closer for you dear Marie.
The video didn't play on my iPhone, so I switched to the computer :-) Mom and I were big fans of Rubik's cube and bravo to Noah to making it look so easy! What a beautiful pound cake! I'm glad your family enjoys the sweets so you can bake. The yogurt Legos are so cute, will I need that mold for Xavier? ha ha
ReplyDeleteYou need it:) And a slew of other things..if you lived next door..LOL..I would walk some over.
DeleteWhat a gorgeous cake Monique. Noah is adorable holding it too. I'm thinking Noah & the cake should be on a magazine cover. You have so much fun with your Littles ...
ReplyDeleteSam
They color my life:)Kids are just so natural..no agendas ..:)
DeleteDeco Relief is Begging you to pop in!!!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.deco-relief.fr
They have a christmas Log I like:) Lovely store indeed!
DeleteThat is a beautiful cake and Noah looks quite happy that he will be getting a taste. I bought the mold after one of your previous posts using it and will have to try this recipe. I'm going to have to look this up on my regular computer so I can hear the video, I'm not getting it on the iPad either. Katherine and Lillian are coming today so I'm going to whip up some of those oatmeal crisp cookies I mentioned to you. I'll let you know how big a cookie they make.
ReplyDeleteOh do let me know!
DeleteI am going to do requested Choco chips.. every time a different recipe:) keeps me on my toes..
Half the recipe is fine !
It is a great mold..100% satisfaction guaranteed..
My daughter's turned out perfectly also..I do spray a light spray.
They taste delish but the first batch got too brown so I only baked the second batch for about 8 min. Mine are very flat, maybe I should have used more dough. They are perfect for tea or coffee, very delicate and not too big (about 2"). One batch might disappear with the kids. You read my mind on spraying the heart mold.
DeleteI am going to scan and send you the bus cookies from today..winners..I sampled them at an Open House to agents many yrs ago..Friday..I will scan:)
DeleteI bet they were good your cookies:)
I have made thin oatmeal cookies and we loved them..choco..coating..somewhere here..Bernard's cookies..will look:)
Can you send by post a part of this wonderful cake ??? Merci et belle journée
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteWhat a beautiful cake! The cake mold produced a perfect cake. It looks wonderful with the fruits. Noah is a cutie and so talented with the rubik cube.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda:)
DeleteLoved that video! What a cutie pie!
ReplyDeleteSave me a piece of that cake....♥️
I didn't enjoy that movie either...have you watched The Martian? I really enjoyed that one!
Call The Midwife is pretty sad lately...i guess they will soon catch on to the Thalidomide...:o(
Rainy and grey and cool here...
Gotta go to the grocery store...if we want to eat! hahaha!
Enjoy your day Monique...
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Very sad..I thought the same thing ..effects of drugs..Thalidomide..but no limbs at all?:( Oh so targic..I love the cast so much..all of them to bits.
DeleteIt's so chilly..35 F this AM..Really? Come on..it's April!!
You too enjoy the day;)
Never met a poundcake I didn't love Monique. What a clever thing to do with the figure. Noah looks so cute. You know I'm crazy about that little one.
ReplyDeleteI do know:) And I love that:)

Gracias Rosa!
DeleteHi Monique, going to have to pick up that silicone mold, looks like it does a great job.
ReplyDeleteWatched the video, Noah is adorable, quite quick with his hands, I could never move mine that fast. Looks like a good time. Take care!
It does a super job:) You would think I had shares..
DeleteHe is quick..and fun..I was happy to see a post of yours in my Inbox.
Good for Noah! He's a cutie! Our younger son mastered the cube quickly, but I never got the hang of it. Your cake looks like a million dollars and I want to try it. It's so chilly and windy and rainy here, it would be a good excuse to turning on the oven. Have a great rest of the week!
ReplyDeleteHope you lke it Pam:)
DeleteHello, Monique,
ReplyDeleteI left you a reply about drawing process, under your comment on my blog! Merci, thank you! PS In the video you and Jacques seem to change between French and English quite freely? I'm so curious which one is your primary language and if your family used one language or the other. The boys are bilingual too, I'm guessing...
French ..is both Jacques' mother tongue and mine..but my parents were bilingual..his were not.But he is fluent fluent ..we often go back and forth..
DeleteWe both did schooling in French..except I did college in English.
The Littles are bilingual..but because all the friends were English..they hardly spoke a word of French before going to school..funny!
Going to see:)
Absolutely delicious Monique !! And I love Noah face, . He is sooo cute :))
ReplyDeletexoxox
He has a lot of personality:) Thank you Gloria!
DeleteThe cake does look like a million dollars. I'm giving it a try.
ReplyDeleteAmalia
xo
I hope you do..and half is fne:)
DeleteTake care Amalia!
Love the look of the mold and the poundcake. I make them often as they freeze like a dream and are a great dessert when taking a meal to someone in crisis or just plain busy. I still make my mother's old 7up pound cake...will have to try yours.
ReplyDeleteNoah is a cutie!
TY Barbara..so nice you still make your mom's:)
DeleteHow gorgeous! And your header is stunning; you have a lovely blog. :)
ReplyDeleteLinda..thank you..!
DeleteOh, I love this! Clearly Noah is thrilled - and I love hearing your sweet voice! Must get that cake mold at Ikea - it's around here somewhere. Love the design baked in!
ReplyDeleteIt really is awinner of a mold Katrina:)
DeletePaul est très habile, lui aussi, avec le Rubik's cube ! ;-) Combien de fois l'ai-je chronométré moi aussi !
ReplyDeleteQuel gâteau, aussi ! Et quel moule ravissant !!!
:)
DeleteIls grandissent mes petits-fils:)
