We ate at a snackbar in the Musée..but there is this lovely dining room
too..
to the right..engraved..Street of the Blind~
See all the chairs? The Da Vinci Code..memories.
On the fifth day..we went ..to first visit Le Musée d'Orsay..it had reopened..
Of course we did not visit it all,but we saw the Impressionists..browsed here and there..had a bite to eat quickly at a little lunch area there at a counter.. as we wanted to see more..but there was also a lovely resto area that you see above w/ great views:)
It's a beautiful museum..I could spend days there.
Onto St-Germain Des Prés~
Jacques loves the movie The Da Vinci Code..and wanted to see St-Sulpice Church..so we went there..the organ was playing and it made the church even more magnificent to us.
In that area are two very famous restos/cafés..
Les Deux Magots and Café de Flore~
On St Sulpice..I was hoping we could stop by Le Comptoir de Famille..and we did..there I bought place mats for the girls and I..candies for Noah..and a café au lait bowl for me as well as a small bowl to mix things.
What a dear store~
A quick stop..too quick..aux Jardins Du Luxembourg..
I was hoping to see the boats:)♥
Look at these adorable children, she with her sneakers and cotton dress to match..and her musical instrument case..he with his blazer♥
We had to return back to our arrondissement to visit the Eiffel Tower.
We had bought tickets to the second palier online before going..
it was our 42 nd wedding anniversary and we thought it would be nice..for the views:)
At last she was bathed in sunshine..
Champ de Mars..you can see rooftops..the Trocadero..Sacré Coeur..Les Invalides..sooo much!!Les Tuileries..Place De La Concorde..The Ferris Wheel..look everywhere if you go..walk around..and look..and see..
On the way down I could not help but notice the views too:)
Every day..we did not stop:)
I was grateful to have visited while walking is not an issue..it's funny I am bored walking in same places..except the beach..but put me in a different environment..and I can walk all day and never tire of what I am seeing..
I was always happy to do the above after our full days though..:) It was always nice to just walk back to rue Cler..
2 more parts left..that's it..I promise.
I ate at Two of those restaurants as they were just around the corner from where we were staying. At Cafe Flore, we ordered the most beautiful Baba Rum I'd ever seen. They came out and we took one bite and all made a noise. It was soaked in pure rum which I had never had. I've always had a sort of rum sauce that is sweet, but this was pure alcohol. Needless to say we all just had one bite. My sister ordered raw oysters and they brought mignonette sauce then she asked for cocktail sauce. The waiter said "Madame, we do not eat cocktail sauce in Paris but I will try and find some. He came back with a pink sauce that was nothing like it. I told my sister, when in Rome.... Loved your pictures.
ReplyDeleteForgot to say about your picture of the girl copying a painting, there is a wonderful book titled THE OBSTACLE RACE by Germaine Greer about the women artists who learned by copying their fathers and brothers works. Women just weren't allowed to paint. Many were brilliant artists, like Celia Beaux, Vigee Le Brun, Suzanne Valadon and many more. Very good book if I haven't already told you about it many times. I forget. ;(
DeleteElisabeth Louise Vigée..never knew her name..had of course seen her art..her work is being exhibited in Ottawa..about 2 hrs from here this summer.
DeletePerfect..when in Rome:)
ReplyDeleteThis is an anecdote..that day..at Café de Flore and Les Deux Magots..you could not stand back and get a full on photo..as many sectors/arrondissements..in Paris were experiencing a garbage strike..the garbage in front of those 2 restos..was higher than people..right in front..and yet everyone was there eating...huge piles!
Our area..did not experience that..and garbage was picked up every night..contrary to early AM here.
I like when you suggest things..don't ever worry about ..if you told me:)
How many times have I told you my mom was an artist?:)
Her da..my maternal grandfather..was a window dresser for Morgan's..that was unusual way back then..
Séraphine de Senlis was a great artist too..loved the movie..albeit sad.
Loved the movie Camille Claudel too.
Going to look up the names now:)
Thank you..
I's funny.when you see such sights..you almost want to re -see and dawdle.
It seems like a whirlwind now.
So many familiar sites. I think we ate at Les Deux Magots! I'm loving re-living Paris through your lovely pics!
ReplyDeleteTonight we are watching:"Amélie"♥
DeletePart 6..my next part..is my favorite..I hope it will bring back memories again for you.
After all..you were an inspiration:)
Look so beautiful and confirm something always I think : Paris is the best and absolutely amazing :)
ReplyDeleteThanks by yours words Monique ♡♡♡♡
:( Always hard to lose a parent:(
DeleteAbout my dad loss
ReplyDeleteThanks ♡♡
Oh Monique, I don't want you trip to Paris to end! I am enjoying all of your remarkable and beautiful photos so very much. I feel like I am right there with you! Seeing it through your talented camera lens. I especially love the brass statue of the dancer. And that view going down from the Eifle Tower. Captured magnificently! What a lovely trip you are taking us on. Thank you so much! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI don't want to forget a thing..now that we are home..I am replaying every day in my head..
Deletethanks Marie..for enjoying the travel with us;)
These photos bring back such good memories. Even though I live in France, I don't get to Paris very often at all anymore--it's far and life is busy.
ReplyDeleteI remember meeting a Parisian friend for late-night drinks at Café Flore. I wanted to people-watch on the terrace, but my friend assured me that was only for tourists, and the locals, including celebrities, preferred to hide out as far inside as possible, on the red leather banquettes.
I can well imagine..locals would enjoy the more private area..far from the madding crowd..so popular..but then again..many many cafés were full to the brim..there was only one on rued de Rivoli around 10.30 AM ..we were alone..w/ my friend..and the nicest server.
DeleteI am so enjoying revisiting Paris through your eyes Monique. Especially seeing the photo of the café with the clock in the musée d'Orsay where we had a wonderful lunch. And of course who could forget the tea at Marriage Frères. Thanks for sharing these.
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure:)
DeleteMon beautiful visiting Paris again it brings me back! We had lunch at Cafe de Flore too, it was our way of getting out of the rain....Di☔️
ReplyDelete:) it must have been nice! We had eaten at that point..
DeleteDont stop!! So much fun to see Paris thru your eyes.
ReplyDelete:)
2 more..then we came home..the next is my favorite day.
DeleteI have loved seeing Paris through your eyes..for years.
I'm so glad the sun came out on your anniversary and for the views from La Tour Eiffel! Spectacular! I could spend all day at that museum too and how wonderful that they allow artists to duplicate the paintings there. The bronze ballerina ♥. I am in awe of the amazing architecture...the beautiful wrought iron balconies, the towers, the curves and details, all so wonderful to see. Love to high views from indoors :) That gorgeous clock! One of my favorite cafe photos of yours is the one with of Cafe de Flore with that gentleman in the middle with the huge, white handlebar moustache, big sunglasses and his trousers :-) Don't you wonder who he is? I will miss visiting Paris with you when it's over!
ReplyDeleteForgot to spell check - LOL.
DeleteNow I am wondering about him:) I want to go see him again:)Moustache is mustache in French:)♥
DeleteYou would love that Museum. And the sights..the artist in you..
I am enjoying this so much. It brings back wonderful memories of when I was in Paris.
ReplyDeleteWill you return? It's not too late:) It's still there:)
DeleteIf it were up to me I'd want you to keep going, and going, and going. Truly stupendous photographs, Nana!
ReplyDeleteAww..not that great..no one likes to lug a DSLR..I must admit the phones were looking good:) So easy!!
DeleteActually I am very grateful the camera reacted..did what it was supposed to do..and we have memories..
Now that I am back..it seems almost like a dream..that turned out well..the next day out is the best:)
Oh, but I don't want this to end. I love getting to visit Paris through your lens and your memories. Wonderful idea to spend your anniversary up above the city looking down. How magical! Yes, like you, I can walk and walk and walk when in Paris. I love the adventure, the beauty at every turn, the history. Thank you sweet friend for taking me along today. Perfection!
ReplyDeleteI just read an entry in a blog and the girl is leaving France to go back home to the US..and someone commented..that she will be homesick of France..and I have to say..I have not even lived there..but it gets into all of yourself and you can't forget:)It's quite amazing.
DeleteHi Monique..

DeleteWE had out aftrenoon out w/ Noah for his July 4th bday ..lunch and shopping..the child lucked out:)
Have a great day!
I'm enjoying the photos too. How I wish the trip was not ending but I like the way you spaced it out with garden and family photos in between. It was like waiting fit the next episode of a favorite show.
ReplyDeleteI took so many phots..this way it's condensed..and I can peek when I feel like it..it goes by so fast when you are away for just 1 week.
DeleteHappy 42nd Anniversary Monique. We just celebrated our 50th in Michigan. Your photos are lovely as usual. We too loved to return to rue Cler after a day of sightseeing in Paris. I am so anxious to go back.

Je t'embrasse,
Thanks for sharing your trip...so lovely. I am itching to go to Paris... :)
ReplyDeleteYou will be there..in ..no time..it will seem like that:)
DeleteHow I enjoyed your Paris...Musée d'Orsay, I could LIVE there!! I remember overhearing an American family once there who was checking all the floors off on a list: they had to see it all! I don't see great quantities but am moved by what I do see...Van Gogh halls were for me the most memorable. And that clock!! This area of Paris is my favorite..Your photos are so vividly colorful...I visited the church of St. Etienne as you all visited St. Sulpice: because it was in Midnight in Paris...the steps anyway...I sat where Gil Pender sat...You all are brave to go up that Eiffel!! What a great way to mark your anniversary. And walking, yes, same for me...Miles!
ReplyDeleteAs Hélène said so well..Paris gives us wings..
DeleteI am sorry we missed soo much!
