This sign..tugged at my heartstrings..my mom did not get to know Jacques for very long..maybe 6 months..if that...
Jacques took my mom and I out for dinner..at La Crepe Bretonne in Montréal..the one on Mountain St..in 1973~
I was 19..I was filled w/ pride that Jacques knew of this restaurant and I could see my mom..was so grateful ..
she was smitten..he took her back to his apt w/ me..I could tell my mom..liked him a lot..and I am glad that stayed with me..as she passed away shortly after..I knew I had her stamp of approval..
She has my trolley..kidding the trolley I wish I had bought in Provence~8 years ago..
I love olive trees..small..medium and large..young..or old..
If not for Carol G..I wonder if I would have noticed..
Love the corner buildings~
Charming..I think I am into charm.
La Sorbonne
Les Invalides
The views from those apartments ..!
Ball games strictly prohibited~
?:)
The banks of La Seine were receding..the bateaux-mouches were back in business..mud was under foot and couragoeus restaurateurs were working hard to restore what was there before....I was happy to see that on the eve of our departure, things were getting back to normal.
Inspiring.
We were able to walk on the banks of La Seine the day before we left..the clouds rolled in..on that last day..
A ship had docked
The car in back was just as close.. they BUMP..forward and backward to get out..couldn't believe it..
I would cry if I found my car squeezed in like that as I would never get out.
Heading towards our place for the last time~
And then home~
♥That face :) And his poster..and flowers..
The best photo.
I took 1000 photos in Paris..
You never set up and shoot..you walk and click..w/ out stopping almost.
Grateful to Arlene to have sold me her Point And Shoot Sony that I brought along..small battery charger..and it fit in my purse.
Paris is a photographer's dream.
An adventure we will never forget~
I found out..upon our return..a couple of weeks into it..that a blogger/artist I enjoy and follow..has a little gem for rent in Montmartre,should I go back..I would be very tempted..no..I would..I just would:)
You can see her views form her rental apt..here..
I have seen the apt..so cute and clean and new..I saw it on photos..you can contact her directly through her blog.
I find the look..location...look very very good!
The end~
A few of my souvenirs..we did not shop much..the surprise of the first days and wondering what was to come..but everywhere we went..I loved gathering.:)
The card upper left w/ La Tour Eiffel..from one of our daughters ..before we left to tuck into my purse..♥
Our infamous Metro pass..photo turned over;)
And that's it...
Except..thanks to all my favorite bloggers that instilled the desire in me to GO:)
sigh.....I love Paris. It is such a beautiful city. Thank you for sharing your pictures with us!
ReplyDeleteMaybe once you settle in to the new place:) you will go again:)
DeleteThe first thing on my bucket list is FRANCE. Even if I have crawl. Everything is so beautiful and I loved everyone of your posts. How sweet of your grandson to greet you with a sign and flowers. He is so cute.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the wonderful tours.
Mary
I hope you go:) You made me smile:)
DeleteMaybe with your grandaughter?:)
Your photos have me dreaming of a return. Rue Cler, my street! Merci, Monique! Your photos make my heart sing. They are the next best thing to being there. Our neighbors are there now with their four daughters. Tonight they attended a concert in St. Chapelle. So much beauty in one city!
ReplyDeleteI love that area..I know you do too..what fun your neighbours must be having Sarah:)
DeleteAh...
Even though you had a bad start to your Paris visit you have so many wonderful photos to look back on and relive those 7 days in in Paris.
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing your grandson waiting to welcome you home.
It's funny Barbara..the more time goes on..the more I only remember vividly on a continuous basis..the great parts♥
DeleteOnce something is over.. really over..in a bad experience ..you seem to only remember the good.
I loved his little face too:)And still do..he just looked so happy..proud.
Encore un billet de toute beauté. Bon, tu as donc apprécié ton voyage. C'est le principal ... La prochaine fois que vous venez, je serai votre guide. Enfin, si tu me préviens un peu tôt ! ;-)
Such a full itinerary Monique. Love how Jacques planned your visit so well. Your photos are gorgeous! It was nice to see Paris through your eyes. I can hardly wait to return. Think we will stay in Montmartre next time.
ReplyDeleteDo look into Martine's home there..:)I have nothing to gain at all..it just looks quite nice and clean..I prefer Cler and Montmartre to Mouffetard to stay..I think for what little we really did do..it seems like a lot..but it's a whirlwind..I am sorry I cannot see certain things again today:)
DeleteThank you:) I have enjoyed your trips too!
I love your story about your dare with Mom, you and Jacques. And to see that sign, I bet you were teary eyed. You did so much and your memories will be priceless. I don't think we got to this part of Paris (it was a long weekend trip). This is a beautiful part of Paris. Noah greeting you home with a peony and sign, too sweet for words. I bet your photos will give you much inspiration next winter as you pick up your paint brushes on a snowy day. Thank you, thank you for sharing your trip!
ReplyDeleteThank you for coming along Terry:)
DeleteIt's funny Jacques just just read my post and he said;"It's cute the story about your mother"..I said:" well you know it's all true" ..he said "I know but it's making me teary eyed"..
She was so wonderful Terry..even in that short time..he knew it.
Maybe you will go back..Mouffetard area feels older than the Rue Cler area..is..well the streets are wider and brighter..feels younger..I'm not a historian;)
Just my perception..
Noah is so funny.. he is a real BOY..but he's got such cute tender moments:)♥
S'wonderful.
ReplyDeleteS'marvelous!!
Love all your Paris trash too.
Bravo
Every time you have shown napkins etc..I have thought..that is what I would do:)
DeleteFirst resto we went to..the lovely waiter brought me a new napkin to take home..
Jacques knew..I always do it..part of the trip.
I still regret throwing out a large red leather purse the year I married with ticket stubs..matches..programs..letters.
What a beautiful post...i loooooove it thanks for sharing love Ria x
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading it Ria:)
DeleteBeautiful post with more breath taking photos. love your story about your Mom, Jacques and you. That is quite touching! There is so much beauty in Paris, not to mention, the lovely shops and views. Quite historical and charming. I do love charming myself. A trip not soon forgotten. You should go back one day. How could you resist that sweet face? thank you for taking me along on this fabulous journey. You managed to capture the essence of Paris.
ReplyDeleteDid I know you when you went Linda?
DeleteI must look through posts of before..and see what I missed all those years.
Thank you!
You have such an eye! Love every single one, but especially those red chairs and yellow cafe tables and the cobbled streets - and the architecture! Heavenly virtual visit, merci. It made me sad when you mentioned your Mom - how very sad to lose her when you were so young. My mother died when she was in her 90's, but even that was too soon for her children and grand and great-grand children.
ReplyDeleteKatrina..I am certain I remember ..
DeleteLet's face it..it is never easy if you have been close..50,60,70 etc..
It's that unconditional love.
There is something for everyone in Paris..I think it is exhilarating..:)
And so out of the ordinary to be on an adventure every day...
Have a great week.
So beautiful. Keep sharing your pics as they show Paris so well. We stood with our mouths open when these small cars would pull in along the sidewalk and bump the car in front and in back till they were parked bumper to bumper. Couldn't believe it either. Lawsuits would abound if that went on in the US. Just such a beautiful trip.
ReplyDeleteIt was....Jacques also says the good is far more prominent in his mind than our unfortunate thefts.
DeleteThe shock has worn off..
They seem used to it:)
Happy go lucky drivers?
Not me:)
Charm can be seen on every corner! I adore your photos and your lovely memory. I've mentioned before ... you have a wonderful eye! Have a great week Monique.
ReplyDeleteYou too Tricia..your lemon flower cookies are everywhere being Pinned:)
DeleteSo many beautiful vignettes. I know you will be recreating them in watercolor🎨 I love all of the signs, especially the artistic spectacles. I would definitely never be able to park s car there! Such a sweet welcome home💕
ReplyDeleteI tried Moulin Rouge..a new way..above..I love nstagram for following artists like you:)
DeleteLove the story about your Mom♥️
ReplyDeleteYou sure crammed a lot into one week...
And that face waiting for you....precious!
Enjoy your evening...
No rain here!
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Have a FUN Birthday day:)
DeleteLove your comments along with the photos, you really are an artist with your pics. Wonderful memory of your husband taking your mom and yourself to La Crepe Bretonne in Montréal..
ReplyDeleteI think Paris gives everyone an eye:) I do!! But thank you..it's nice after all this time having no problems with Instagram and what you are up to:)
DeleteYour images of Paris are some of the loveliest I have seen...thank you for sharing all of your trip with all of us...
ReplyDeleteBisous xoxoxoxo
I think you are biased:)x
DeleteI love that basket on wheels!!! I want to print a journal of this wonderful trip through your eyes. In case we ever go :-)
ReplyDeleteI bet you will go..Debbie..you know we are novices..but ask me anything..I will be happy to share what we know:)
DeleteSounds good, I appreciate that :-)
DeleteBeautiful Monique, thank you for sharing your trip! XO
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your pics♥xx
DeleteOn, I have enjoyed your Paris trip so very much Monique! What did you eat while you were there? Would love to know more about that! But that is the glutton in me speaking, lol. I have loved every photograph and thought. Your words, but what a beautiful little face to come home to. How utterly, utterly sweet. You are so blessed. xoxo
ReplyDeleteWe ate very little can you believe it?
DeleteIn the mornings..for about 3..Jacques would buy croissants at the boulangerie downstairs..so jam and one croissant and juice..lunch ..once an onion soup/glass of wine.. once a croque-monsieur/glass of wine..and another time Jacques had moules et frites I had a sandwich..no dinners out..and picnics we orchestrated..
it was all I wanted really..and he too.
So I guess that's why I didn't talk about food too much:)
Even here..we eat in:)
I let my daughters tell me about where they eat out;)
You are so blessed too!
Thank you for sharing your Paris trip with the blogging world. I have enjoyed every place, bite of food and adventure you went on. I can't wait to go back to Paris again ♥
ReplyDeleteHugs, Jody
Oooooooo! I have to go to sleep, but I will return to read and look carefully. Many familiar sights...Love your assortment. Love how you were greeted with the sign, too cute!!
ReplyDeleteYou may well have saved the best for last. A beautiful post.
