I discovered that the recent glass art table I bought on a whim w/ Jacques..(he found it..he brought me to it..it's his fault..)..I discovered ..it makes an amazing light table..better than my small light box and better than my computer..
I rarely use a box..rarely..I prefer looking at a photo and drawing it out..but I tried w/ that photo I took..
I placed it on the table..the watercolor card on top and a light under..traced the outlines and the sign..then set myself up and painted..
I liked doing it..cheating in a way..but it works:)
The seedlings are popping up..those are calendulas..the tomatoes are getting really big..this was Aril 5th!
Tried these braids..so cute and fun..but I may have erred..found them here.. a blog I like..and she had linked to here.. At BHG they divided the recipe..she didn't..I got confused and divided..froze the other half..and made 4 braids..not sure if they shoud have been smaller?
Oh well..cute and good.
I did use semolina..I get it atan Italian grcer.I use it in pizza doughs sometimes.
I signed up for a weekly delivery of a farm basket..not a regular farm..a conglomeration of farms.. rooftops.. dairy..etc..
once a week they will deliver to a local spot.
I think I am smitten..
No..I don't think...
I am smitten..♥♥
the greens..were so crunchy and fresh..the eggs so pastel and free range..the microgreens beautiful.
Friday night w/ the micro greens atop..I made baked Bang Bang shrimp.. ***** sautéed chopped baby bok choy w/ sesame oil..and garlic chips.. and sweet rice w/ red peppers and spring green onions..love that sauce:)
Baked..so the only really bad thing is the Bang Bang sauce..
C'est la vie:)
***
I don't even turn the shrimp over anymore..I have made this a few times..
I now brown my Panko first..makes a prettier coating..
I add this to the sauce..
Linda told me about it..she sent me some years ago..I have never looked back:)
It adds zing and color..w/ the sesame seeds..
really good.
It was a thrill for me to add all the farm basket ingredients..
I'll pause till after Easter..and then share some of the fun stuff:)
I am sorry the first pic..the watercolor one..is greyish..not sure why..
I am so happy to have been able to grow things under lights here..
I was able to go to one or two..MTL flower markets this week..and I cannot say I am enamoured..at all..:(
that's one thing in Paris..that took my breath away..HUGE bunches,
healthy..etc..presentation..♥♥
I am not ready to say that of MTL.. in April..in a flower market stall.
Actually très disappointed.
Maybe more later..
until then..
♥
PS..I added my watercolor..a second time..brighter.. thanks to a really nice person who actually took the time to take mine..brighten it and send it back to me..
you know..these little acts of impromptu kindnesses..are just tops in my books.
Thank you Bryonna:)
I love the idea of using a glass coffee table as a lightbox ~ and it's not cheating at all ~ you took the gorgeous photo, too!!
ReplyDeleteIt works so well..much brighter than a lightbox:)
DeleteThose micro greens, eggs and greens are all gorgeous - I can see why you are smitten. What a great treat. I love your painting, as they are always sweet, and light and colorful. Those braids look amazing! I must give those a try - I adore baking :) Have a very happy Easter with family!
ReplyDeleteIt's quite nice to pick these gorgeous products up so close to home:) I know you love baking..:)Happy Easter!
DeleteThe water color is lovely! Such talent.
ReplyDeleteThe braids look great, too......I see nothing wrong with them.
Have a wonderful Easter mon amie.

I wish you photo outings galore..we have some nice photo op months ahead of us..let's enjoy it:)
DeleteI can see why you're smitten with that basket, it's gorgeous. And how fun to create a delicious meal around it!
ReplyDeleteI bet your gardens are cracking right now..I was quite excited to get this..but then again..I really do get excited over things like this more than big things:)
DeleteSuch a lovely watercolor, Monique! I love how the table has a double purpose as a lightbox! How fun is that... like the old Doublemint Gum! I would be smitten with that basket suscription, too!! How wonderful! Your Bang Bang shrimp look so delicious! And, those braids... {sigh...} Happy Easter, sweet lady! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteEaster Blessings to you and your family Tanna:)
DeleteEaster was so different when I was little..it is probably just the way it was back then for you..
Palm Sunday..little white gloves..shiny shoes and an Easter Bonnet..church..and mostly sunny:)
I used our glass coffee table with the light underneath when I did all the boys 1-year-old pastel portraits :) First time I tried it was for Lindsay's wedding invites to trace the calligraphy that I had printed out. It does work beautifully! Pretty vase of flowers! I'm sure the flower markets don't have much to offer this early. Try again later in the season - I'll bet it will be better. After I finish typing this I am going straight to the Bang Bang recipe :) I know you've made it before. Our shrimp truck is returning soon! Oh my gosh, Togarashi is in my Amazon cart! Had a salad recently at a resto that was seasoned with it and loved the flavor! Was told it was Togarashi seasoning. Beautiful braided bread! Happy Easter, to you and your wonderful family, Monique ♥ I think there will be some very happy boys there :)
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention your beautiful co-op basket! Everything looks so fresh and clean and those eggs! Gorg!
DeleteIsn't that funny that that's in your Amazon cart..I love it..I gave some to caro..I think she forgot about it..will remind her.
DeleteI do remember for the portrait! Works so well!!
Happy Easter to you whole adorable beautiful family..and you:)
Like always all look beautiful Monique!!
ReplyDeletehappy Easter to you and your family!!
Happy Easter dear Gloria~!
DeleteI finally made it over here...to see this beautiful post 💕
ReplyDeleteYour painting is just as beautiful as your painting...if not more so!
That braid is divine...I can only imagine how delicious it was.
That Shrimp looks so tasty...and easy...I looked up the recipe!!
Have a great week Monique...sunny this am, but the clouds have rolled in...AGAIN ☔️
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Here too..cloudy and damp damp damp..Jacques is outside with Dominique our wonderful tree man:) He cuts down all the tops of the trees on one side..it's overrun w/ grapevine and branches etc..w e like light:)The other side Jacques does the hedge..but this side is not manageable. He's so nice..he does our evergreens in front too..going to have him look at my crabapple..J tried last fall..it looks like a poplar:(
DeleteHave a great day:)
I love your watercolor painting. I love the idea of using that table as a light box for tracing, nothing wrong with that at all. Those shrimp look divine!
ReplyDeleteThank you:)
DeleteLOVE THE ART! The braids are incredible. And this is what you call a "nothing new" week? Ha! You should see one of mine! Well, there would be nothing to see! The bang bang shrimp is now on my list, too. I am so thrilled to have time to be out and about again. Such inspiration, Monique!
ReplyDeleteHugs

Enjoy your time:) My daughter succumbed and bought a Vita Mix at Costco..she loves it..guess who I thought of?:)
DeleteWild to pieces about the watercolor, Monique. It's really beautiful. The light table is a great strategy -- and prettier than an official light table! You captured the mood and feel perfectly!
ReplyDeleteI love your basket of eggs and veggies -- it's so inviting! What a feast I think you will enjoy!
Well..I would not need a light table if my kittens didn't look like Ewoks..
DeleteYou are amazing at those cats!
Thanks Jeanie!
It all looks so fresh and beautiful! Never thought of using a light table - I am inspired by you to try watercolor. Drawing is not my strong suite, but I might try a light table. The bread, fresh greens, blue eggs - Bang Bang Shrimp.....lovely💕
ReplyDeleteYou're so artistic..I would be surprised if you would not have a special style and flair:) I hope you do..I bet I would even love your paints;)
DeleteHappy Easter Ry:)
I love that you found a new way to make your paintings~~and I love this one. I used to dabble in watercolors and could only sketch and paint from objects I arranged so this would have been great at the time.
ReplyDeleteI have a glass coffee table and it was always so cool to prop pieces on it for photos...very surreal. Sadly, I've had to send it off to the House of Furniture Horrors...the basement. The corner are sharp, and the fact that it's glass makes it so unsafe for the little kiddies. Perhaps someday I'll have a spot for it.
Your photos are so beautiful, Monique, and your love of fresh food and playing with recipes makes me smile. I find that same joy when I discover a new herb, spice, or recipe.
If this is what it's like to have nothing exciting going on, please invite me over to enjoy it with you!! :)
Jane x
You know what Jane..having caught up w/ you and read about you..I think we would get on just fine:)
DeleteI bet we could even just sit and paint quietly:)
Yes..our glass table upstairs shattered..think I ttold you that..
I had never even thought to use it when we had it..I have another in the kitchen and sunroom..but tall eating areas..this recent one..is just right..like Goldilocks:)
Yes we used to worry about the toddlers too..even the higher glass ones..they would crawl under..stand up and bang:(
Have a Happy Easter..!
How could anything which helps you to create something so beautiful be a cheat! Never! I had never thought of doing that myself, so thanks for the inspiration! Your garden basket is lovely. I love getting surprises each month. Its like a gift I give myself! Those pastel eggs, so adorable, but the box they came in, even more so! (I love egg boxes with pictures of hens on them!) Your bread sticks look perfect as does the shrimp. Beautifully presented as always. I do so enjoy my visits to your page Monique. You are like a calm oasis. Love and hugs, xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love my visits at your places too..so sorry for today:(
DeleteYour painting is sweet. I love bang bang shrimp and this recipe sounds great!
ReplyDeleteNew kitchen recipe!
DeleteLove your painting. Beautiful braids too. A farm basket sounds wonderful and also makes for a beautiful photo.
ReplyDeleteI know..I like the farm basket for pics too...:)
DeleteHappy Easter dear Linda!
Dearest Nana, I love your pictures, a work of art, really.
ReplyDeleteThat green basket is irresistible, mainly the biological eggs.
Your posts are so nice to read! I do love to come here.
Lots of hugs
Nina
And I so enjoy seeing your very different life:) And getting fashion tips♥
DeletePerhaps your painting above is my favorite so far!!!! And that basket of greens and eggs, so natural, healthy, real, so far from the commercial junk that is being sold here in US as Easter Baskets.
ReplyDeleteI am honored that you said that:) But you are always so kind:)
DeleteHappy Easter dear Rita.
Thank you for everything you share with us..with me.
Grateful.
You clever girl turning your glass table into a light box. I LOVE how the watercolor turned out! Very nice xo The farm basket looks amazing. I've thought of trying that, but schedule is crazy and I'm afraid I would let a bunch go bad.... though, it would be so fresh it would take awhile, I'm sure. Wishing you and your family a lovely Easter. Love, G
ReplyDeleteI am really hoping nothing goes bad..:( My gardens are poking..the garlic..oh lala so much..the tomato plants in the basement..I'll stick to what I think we can handle..and I'll share before something won't make it..I am not a waster..
DeleteHappy Easter..to you and your lovely family dear Gail.
I know how smitten you must be to be receiving a weekly farm basket :-) I have been doing that for 8 years now, and it is the highlight of my foodie year. LOL
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to you and your lovely family. I'm trying to sit down and compose an Easter post. xx
I know you have loved that..I thoght of you picking up my first!
DeleteBeautiful photos and paintings, Monique, as always. Happy Easter!

Everything is just stunningly beautiful ...just like you!
ReplyDeleteBisous xoxoxo
I want some of those rose colored glasses you wear..:)♥
DeleteI do so love your art work, Monique!
ReplyDeleteSeeing the eggs in the lettuce made me think of an Instagram photo...there was a huge head of lettuce with eggs etc. around...so cute. Think it may have been Martha Stewart.
Yummy looking braided loaves...I adore bread. All kinds. So difficult to diet and see all the things I want to eat! But I'be been on this diet (with a brief break in Dominican Republic) since January. Lost 17 lbs! Just three more to go. But I'm now at an age when I have to watch my calories constantly. :(
Happy Easter to you and your lovely family!
I am at that age too all of a sudden:)
DeleteI don'teat more than I did..everything just looks so different.I am certain I will never like a bathing suit..or mirrors.
I live in leggings in winter..liars..they are liars:) LOL..
Nothing feels different in leggings till you put your jeans on..even spandex.
Oh well..thinkgs could be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much worse..
Weight loss..is a story of courage..determination..and desire..
HARD..
Metabolisms are all different..and no one had better tell me differently.
I hate how heavy people are judged, sure some could watch their caloric intake more carefully..but where's the justice in 2 people eating the same thing..moving the same amout..and yet ..two totally different pysiques?
Genetics..metabolisms..
LOL can you tell I was bullied?
Let me at them now:)
Good for you! Such a great feeling once it slides off..healthier..feeling:)
Happy Easter to you too..
by the way..you are a knock out!
I can only hope to to look that good in a few yrs.
ooh i love new seedlings and new plant growth. I love all of this and you are such an artist the pretty painting, pastel eggs and that delicious looking bread, all of it perfect for spring...hope your weekend is a lovely one :)
ReplyDeleteI wish you a happy EAster..and a fabulous, creative, peaceful, healthy and happy Spring and summer.
DeleteThose greens in the basket look delicious. I love that spice. I have my own jar. The egg basket looks so Canadian with the rooster. But roosters don't lay eggs, he should be a she. Oh well. It looks healthy to have a chicken on the cover. Have a Happy Easter.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to you too..I may be a chicken mom..soon..maybe:)
DeleteOh dear!! You are so sweet.. I love your comment.. that's a real problem... i can't just sit and relax. I always feel restless until I finish my all jobs... but I need to learn to relax . . My husband always says that.. love you.. big hug..😚😚
ReplyDeleteI am your replica.
DeleteBut older..much older.
The garden relaxes me and painting and baking..sitting and watching tv in the day is just not part of me..
but I am older and wiser..:) I say this humbly..
:" Learn NOW while you are young..to just live in this moment..quietly and calmly w/out thinking about what you have to do.."
I am so grateful I did not overstep a boundary:)Thank you for letting me know:)
